Alfred climbed down from the catwalk.

"We done?" Dr. Bailey asked.

Alfred nodded. "Let's get moving."

Alfred then left the hanger and entered the hallways, which were strangely empty.

"Alfred, come here." Zachary called to him from a lab.

Alfred entered the lab at Zachary's request.

"So any news?" Zachary asked.

"We got ambushed by snipers in the main hanger." Dr. Bailey responded.

"Also, we learned that there are 100 soldiers or so still present. We're horribly outnumbered." Alfred added.

"Actually, we may have to evacuate soon." Dr. Zanasiu said.

"Why?"

"Crimson Base is sending air support. They'll arrive in 5 or so minutes. Cobalt Leader is asking if evacuation is advised."

"Will probably be. They're probably going to bomb Pelvanida to hell." Hans replied, holding a paper towel to a cut on his forehead.

"Where to now?" PFC Reynolds asked.

"The AWTR is probably a good idea. For all we know, those traitorous bastards could be swiping all of our prototypes." Zachary replied.

"Cobalt Squad, meet up with us at the AWTR." Dr. Zanasiu said.

He and the rest of the group headed down the deserted hallways to the AWTR.

When they arrived, they noticed that the doors to the outside testing range were still open, letting in ample light.

There were also several bodies on the ground near the entrance.

Dr. Zanasiu carefully examined the dead bodies. They were all the same rogue special forces soldiers that attacked them. Each had been killed with a single shot to the head.

Hans examined one of the dead soldiers. "Looks like the work of a sniper."

Werner looked at the catwalks above the AWTR. "A group should search the catwalks for the sniper. Another group should sweep the AWTR."

"I'll go on the catwalks." Zachary said.

"I'll follow." Dr. Zanasiu replied.

"I'll go with James and Zach." Hans replied.

Werner looked around. "I guess that leaves Aisha, Dr. Landon, Dr. Bailey, Alfred and myself to sweep the ground floor."

Dr. Bailey hobbled behind an armored gun locker that was set near the entrance. "I'll stay behind some cover thank you very much."

Dr. Zanasiu shrugged. "Whatever, get moving we don't have much time."

Dr. Zanasiu, Hans and Zachary slung their weapons across their backs and climbed up the ladders leading to the catwalks.

Werner looked around and spotted a partially closed door.

"We'll need to check in there." he said.

" Acknowledged. Cobalt Leader out." Cobalt Leader said. He then radioed everyone else. "Everyone, this is Cobalt Leader. I was just informed that Crimson Base is preparing to bomb Pelvanida. We should start preparing to leave."

He then ran to the AWTR.

Werner pushed the door open and spotted Sgt. Clyco and an unknown Chameleon soldier.

"You! Step away from Clyco!" Werner demanded, aiming his weapon at the soldier.

The Chameleon did so. "Werner Donitz I see."

"How do you know my name?"

"General Moby has told me about you and your allies. I was told I may encounter you. In any case, I am Specialist Leon Jackson of Carson City Camp."

Dr. Zanasiu, Hans and Zachary climbed down from the catwalks.

"Nothing up there." Hans said. His radio then beeped. He picked it up and listened. he then turned to everyone else. "Guys, Crimson Base is preparing an airstrike on Pelvanida. We should quickly sweep for friendlies and get out."

"Not sure if we have time." Zachary said. "I heard the transmission; we've got 20 minutes until they get here. Since we need to be away from the base when the bombing starts, we've got 10 minutes tops."

"Aisha! Alfred! Dr. Landon! I hope you heard what was said over the radio!" Dr. Zanasiu shouted.

"Who the hell is this?" demanded Clyco as he raised his shotgun even with the newcomer's, resulting in a standoff of sorts.

"Is this Werner Donitz one of your friends Camo-man?"

Spc. Jackson nodded. "He came with Dr. Zanasiu and his group to try and destroy the project known as Dragonstorm. I was sent over guard the AWTR."

Alfred nodded. "Heard ya, James!"

Dr. Zanasiu then heard voices coming from one of the testing chambers. He entered and spotted Sgt. Clyco in a standoff with Werner. An unknown Chameleon soldier was also present.

"Sgt. Clyco!" Dr. Zanasiu said, "We have to leave this base in 10 minutes or so. We've received Crimson Base is planning an air strike on Pelvanida."

Cobalt Squad also entered the room. They looked around and noticed the dead soldiers.

"Did we miss anything?" a Couger Cobalt soldier asked.

Another Cobalt soldier, a tall Human shook his head. "Doesn't look like it."

"Crimson Base to Cobalt Leader. Air strike has launched. We only have 5 minutes to call off the strike if needed. Radar-jamming systems will initiate before attack. Do you wish to abort?"

"Negative. Cobalt Leader out." Cobalt Leader then cut the transmission. He then turned to everyone else. "Let's go. We've got 10 minutes tops before they bomb the place."

"Sgt. Clyco, we are preparing to leave the base." Werner said.

Dr. Zanasiu, Zachary, Alfred, Hans, Spc. Jackson and the Cobalt Squad then left the AWTR and headed to the main parking lot at the front of the complex.

lets head out' Aishas said, as she followed Alfred towards the parking lot. "I'll admit, I'll be glad to be back on the road after those wackoes' she said refering to Dragonstorm.
- It will be awhile before we catch up to them" Dr Landon said. " They have a big head start.. " 'We're going to catch them, Dr Landon, we have to' Aisha said in reply.

Alfred saw the tanks in the distance. "We've got to move quick. We can't damage the tanks at all."

He then found a large pickup truck with dual rear wheels and a heavy brushguard on it. It bore the words "Irvine Construction" on its side.

He got in and grinned as he discovered that the keys were in the ignition. "Aisha! Dr. Landon! Get in!"

Cobalt Squad broke into a large van apparently was used to for delivering food. The keys were still inside.

"This should hold the rest of us." Cobalt Leader said.

Dr. Zanasiu, Hans, Werner and Zachary got into the van.

Aisha and Dr Landon clambered into the back seat. "Floor it Alfred" Aisha said buckling herself in. Dr Landon soon did the same " we need to make a run for it!"he said.

Alfred started the engine and pushed the accelerator as far as it would go. The truck roared to life as it slowly, but surely got moving. It soon drove out of the parking lot and headed down the road.

The van followed.

Soon, both vehicles were headed out of Pelvanida and back to Carson City Camp.

(OOC - Caustizer, can I assume Sgt. Clyco entered the delivery van? And what about the disabled Dragonstorm vehicle on the road?)

(OOC: Yes Sergeant Clyco did enter the van, and lets assume that the single Dragonstorm Jeep got away. I had originally planned to have them gun down the tank commander and escape, but thanks to University commitments I haven't had the time to machine the post)

(OOC - Yeah. They could have killed the tank commander and escaped "behind the scenes".)

Alfred turned the radio on and to his chagrin, Danger Zone began playing. He quickly turned it off.

"I guess now's not an appropriate time for that music?" he joked.

"So now what do I do?" Dr. Bailey asked.

"Well since, we're going to be on the run. We'll have to either rely on the money Dr. Zanasiu is getting from Admiral Tennes or we'll need to get jobs." Zachary replied.

"What types of jobs?"

"Menial labor. We can't risk doing anything that could draw attention to ourselves, especially any work in the scientific, military or law enforcement fields." Dr. Zanasiu said.

Hans said nothing, as he was watching the road. Not surprisingly, all he could see in the rear view mirror was Alfred's truck.

Werner was taking a nap in the front seat.

Dr. Bradley was looking out the windshield.

The air squadron neared the base in formation.

"Crimson Hawk 1 to Crimson Base. Air strike ready to initiate..."

"Crimson Base to Crimson Hawk 1. All is clear and air strike initiation is green..."

"Crimson Hawk 1 confirmed. Strike initiating... All units, prepare to strike on my command... Enemy jamming engaged..."

Although hidden by the night sky and from radar, the squadron is soon heard by the roar of their engines as they flew by the heroes...

Alfred yawned and pulled into the a truck stop. "We really should nap for a bit before we continue. And refuel as well." He looked at the clock. "Even though it's only 6:00 at night."

He then reclined his seat and fell asleep.

The sound of the stealth bombers was heard overhead as the group headed down the road.

"If we keep this up we'll get to Carson City by morning," Hans said, yawning. He almost involuntarily closed his eyes and drifted into the opposite lane.

He then woke and and corrected his mistake, waking everyone up.

"Hans! I think we should be taking a break for now!." Dr. Zanasiu said.

"You're right," Hans replied. He then pulled into the same truck stop as Alfred and turned the engine off.

The bomb bay on all planes have opened, then whatever guided bombs they were carrying dropped from the jets and begin to steer their way towards specific targets.

"Munnitions away..."
