What's that last picture from?    Is Littlefoot on a tree or something?

No, that's from LBT 6. During your "favorite" song "On your own" Littlefoot is using a liana in kind of Tarzan stile. I thought it might be a symbol for proactive acting.

:bang  I didn't mean what I said that first time.  I really meant to say that I can't attach a file, not upload it.

Same thing.  On this place, uploads = attachments.  So no, no more attachments.  Send me the files and I'll put them on my image host for you.

Because we are running out of space here. There was a thread on this asking people to allow some of their uploaded pictures to be taken out to give some more free space to the board. As too few members decided to give up pictures in older threads it has become necessary for new pictures to be hosted elsewhere.

There will be no creativity award. However, when the idea was still pending I made two different designs for such an award. The awards could possibly be used with a different script in case any more practicable suggestions are made which might fit to the images.
One of them was pretty much a music award design:

The other one was more aimed at sculpturing:

I have a thought for your top banner there, Malte, regarding singing.

All members who took part in the If We Hold On Together Karaoke project could receive an award for their efforts.  The image in the top banner would be perfect for such recognition.

These members would include:
Malte
RogerRabbit
Littlefoot Fan, Duckyfan
(providing these two members send me a recording at some point :p )
Action9000

Perhaps a participation award isn't desired by everyone, but it is just my first thought on how to use such a banner.

I think this is an idea that could work out. It would be an award not to vote about as it is obvious who took part in the project and who didn't. Then again I'm not really certain if there could uneasy feelings about such a kind of award which is not a voting issue. I reckon it is up to the community to deceide whether or not there ought to be such an award for the project or not.

I made two drafts for an award for the newbies.

As you can see I did not yet add any inscription to the awards. The reason is that I'm not quite sure about the actual title of the award. I think at an earlier time we already settled for "Shooting star award", but I'm not quite sure anymore that this would be a good idea. Of course I checked out for pictures with a shooting star but one pretty good I had had the major drawback of Littlefoot in that picture having closed eyes. The only one I found that befitted the name of the award is this one:

I'm not quite happy with it. I don't really like the "surrealistic" content.
I do see why most people would not really want to get a "Hatchling award" or a "Newby award". But could we make it "New member award"? The inscription would be "New member of 2006" in that case. Would that be alright with you?
While I don't see anything negative about this inscription I think it would be more to the point than the shooting star. Moreover it would fit to the first two drafts as well.
Another thing I'm wondering about is who "qualifies" for the newby award. Not to limit the number of candidates too much I suggest that only those who are here for less than one year can be given the award. Another suggestion (only a suggestion, it is entirely up to you to decide) I have is that perhaps this award should be only for those who didn't receive any other award already.

I agree, that one of the candidates such as F-14, Action 9000, myself or Littelfoot Fan should get this award.  You didn't do so bad with the shooting star award.  I like it.  :)

The people who I think could qualify for this award are (in alphabetical order):
action9000
Cyberlizard
F-14 Ace
Littlefoot Fan
pokeplayer984
Raptor
Stitch

However, my most important questions about this award have not yet been responded to. Could people (and I'm asking in particular those who are listed above) live with the inscription "New member of 2006" rather than "Shooting star 2006"? And should only those who got no other award qualify for this one or should people who already got an award be able to get this one in addition?

What is the Shooting star award about anyway?
Just what I expected. The name "Shooting star award" may be confusing to anyone who has not read all the messages about it. My suggestion is to have it with the inscription: "New member of 2006", but I need to know if this is alright with those who might receive this award.
The award is to be given to a member who is with the GOF for less than one year. I don't have the candidates opinion yet on the suggestion that it should be given only to somebody who got no other award (that decision is entirely up to the candidates). The idea behind this is that most of the awards are probably going to those of us who have been with the GOF for a very long time already. The award is meant to give credit to those whose posts and activities on this board have already made a very positive impression even though they are not around for a long time yet.

Any responses from those who are directly concerned by this?

I could live with either "shooting star" or "new member"....then again, why should it matter since I'm not entitled to that award?  :P:  Either one gets the point across.

I too could accept either title.  I still think this is a good idea for an award; it gives the new guys a chance to earn something.
