I've just done some calculations... and if LB&T finishes, he will still be leading, with 14pts (4 points added on for finishing 5th). Thus, there will then be a three-way tie for 2nd.

Yes, it does! Competitors are allowed to post "finish" until the next event starts. If they did not post "finish" for a certain event, they are considered a DNF (Did Not Finish) for that particular race, and thus they do not score any points. But, you're still in, because you are considered to have finished...
