Title: Bad News For Windows Users
Post by: landbeforetimelover on June 01, 2008, 03:44:24 AM
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I really think Vienna is gonna suck.  Now, this is by no means really windows Vienna, but it gives a pretty good representation of the crap we're gonna have to be dealing with:

I've heard from reliable sources that windows Vienna is gonna have touch screen technology just like this.  This isn't really Vienna.  It's some dude trying to fool everyone with touch technology that's on the Vienna pre-release for Microsoft workers.  Vienna is gonna take up a billion times more than Vista did most likely.  This is sad news for us all.  I can just see this being the minimum system requirements on the back of the windows Vienna box:

quad-core 3ghz 64 bit processor

4gb ram

500gb HD with 100gb free space

graphics card with at least 512mb of video memory

Blu-Ray disk player

GOD!  Doesn't Microsoft get it?  Sure, driver incompatibility was a big issue, but the worst part of Vista was it's horrendous system requirements!  Bill Gates is such a dumb a**.

Pff.. That's sure a lot.. My computer will never make that haha.

I don't know about Vienna, but I do not like touch screen technology, I know many people are going to have problems with that.

I think windows 98 is good enough for me =P .

Wow.  Windows 98.  Have fun with those 10 billion security holes.  The upgrade to XP was needed, but the upgrade to Vista was NOT.  For those of you who think XP will just keep getting older and more outdated, you're all wrong.  There's already a free community that is going to start to take over the job of updates for windows xp when microsoft stops support in 2014.  Vista=XP with a cooler look, annoying and stupid unneeded features, and a huge hardware requirement.  Vienna=Vista with touch.

I love xp.. But 98 also was ok to me. It worked, and didn't annoy me. And that's most important.. Now all my computers have xp except my mothers laptop which has vista.

LOL, if that's the case, I'm definitely not switching to Vienna in this computer's lifetime.

Bill Gates isn't CEO of Microsoft anymore, so you can't blame him. :P:

If you hate Microsoft so much, why not switch to Mac?

I might not be a Mac user, but I love their commercials.

Computers living with Vista:

"I've been error free for over a week."

"I've been error free for over a week."

"I've been error free for over a week."

ROTFLMAO

I wonder if this will make many go over to linux or mac. I'm thinking of going over to linux, except for using xp to play some pc video games I currently already own and have.

I'll drop dead before I switch to mac.  Looks like it's linux for me and xp for some apps I can't give up.  I know software developers will support xp for at least another 6 years.  By then, I will have gotten so used to linux that I won't wanna go back.  I'm gonna try a dual boot.  It's really hard when windows is installed first though.......

This "touch technologies" looks quite uncomfortable to me. The screen gets dirty all the time, and controling process with two hands(To rotate and resize window) looks difficult... Anyway, i haven't switched to Vista, and i'm definitely won't switch XP to this "Vienna" crap.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.  I likely won't switch either.
