Some movies aren't even announced, and they still get cancelled

Well, if it wasn’t announced, then it’s pretty obvious it was cancelled.  But I don’t know how somebody would know a movie’s existence if it wasn’t announced but then gets cancelled.
Yeah, it's a pretty weird juxtaposition to have here. XP

General Land Before Time / Re: Most underrated sequels?
« on: March 24, 2022, 12:16:00 AM »
I've noticed 14 seems to get forgotten about a fair bit as well. I think because it's such an odd one in that it came out 9 years after The Wisdom of Friends and nothing has come out since. It just sort of came and went again. There are some things in there that annoy me, but not nearly as much as some of the other later sequels.

It seems a lot of people think Secret of Saurus Rock is underrated and I'm inclined to agree, probably because I watched it so much when I was younger.  :p
Yeah, I think 14 should be talked a little bit more. Some of the creative choices may not have been great, but the production team seemed to know their stuff and did the best they could.

That site doesn't even look legit like IMDb. It looks like it had a popular phase in the 2000s but then crashed and burned yet they're in denial.

I know the TV series is over already, and there’s no chance for a second season (unless Universal decides to put a 2nd season on Peacock.), but I’ve always wanted to see Ozzy and Strut’s reaction when they see Chomper again… :idea

Ozzy and Strut: Sharptooth?! Aaah!
*They jump off cliff*
I didn't see this post before, but that would be CLASSIC. XD

The announcement that we are getting.. drum roll.. a new box set of the movies and series bundled. :p
That sounds like a realistic outcome. :P

General Land Before Time / Re: How Did Chomper Learn Leaf-Eater?
« on: January 24, 2022, 01:07:10 AM »
Even though I've adopted the outlook that he learned leaf-eater from Ruby or some other omnivore, this is the official explanation for why he can speak leaf-eater, from the official website:

He and the other Sharpteeth have their own language and talk to each other in squeaks and roars (Chomper's sound more like squeaks and pops). But he can talk to his leaf-eating friends because they hatched him. (He's bilingual!)
Well, that's what I call handwaving.

Off-topic, but looking through that website in its 2005 form makes me feel warm with nostalgia. :)

Well, firstly, it was the fact that I had already seen LBT II and LBT III before watching this movie, so I knew that this movie would feature characters I was already familiar with. There was also the fact that I knew it would be the origin story of their friendship, so that was definitely a lure for me.

I'd like to see Chomper's parents again, a family reunion like that would be cool. Maybe another epic fight scene between them and Red Claw, Screech and Thud to protect the gang? I enjoyed the fight between them and the plated sharptooth so I think it would be cool to see a callback to that.
Did we ever see Chomper's parents in the TV series? I don't remember.
Unfortunately, no. LBT II and V were the only ones they appeared in.
Oh, that's sad.

General Land Before Time / Re: Sierras A Psychopath

The flyers are an interesting set of villains for sure. Sierra especially is a dark character for a LBT sequel. He doesn't care who gets hurt or dies on the way, as long as he gets the power he wants. Rinkus held him back a bit but then the only reason he did that was for his own personal gain as well. It was pretty cool to see characters scheming and manipulating others to get what they want being a danger to the gang as opposed to a natural disaster or hungry predator and it's something I'd like to see again sometime.
Non-Sharptooth villains are quite a novelty for the LBT franchise, and even if I like the Sharpteeth, that angle is also something I wish we saw more.

General Land Before Time / Re: Littlefoot and his grandparents' bond...
« on: November 10, 2021, 06:47:21 PM »
I think it may have been different for each grandparent.

Obviously with their limited screen time in the first film, probably because they wanted to focus on Littlefoot's close relationship with his mother before ripping our hearts to shreds with her untimely demise, the relationship between him and his grandparents at this time is open to a lot of speculation.

Grandparents do typically spoil their grandkids whilst the parents are in charge of caregiving as well as discipline. But most of the time the grandkids don't live with the grandparents. Littlefoot has always had Grandma and Grandpa Longneck in his presence full time, so I'd say they were always close, and they probably did step in with helping Mama out if she needed them to. It's heavily implied that he's the last of their legacy, after all, so I'd say they were always pretty protective of him, too.  But I'd also say the bond was different with each grandparent.

Grandpa was always Littlefoot's father figure. Bron may be in the picture now, but I'd say if Littlefoot had to get some advice about something, his grandpa would be the first port of call. I'd imagine that, while he left most of the actual caregiving to Mama, he would tell Littlefoot bedtime stories and give him helpful advice, much like he does in the sequels. I don't think much would have changed between the two, save for Grandpa doing more of the caregiving, after Mama Longneck's death.

The biggest shift in dynamic would be between Littlefoot and Grandma, since she didn't start off being his mother figure but had to become it later on. I can imagine Grandma being more laid back originally, perhaps stealing Littlefoot for grandma cuddles, singing him lullabies, and, if the environment of the first film allowed it, sneaking him extra special food behind her daughter's back. But when Mama passed away, she had to step into her daughter's shoes and probably took over most of what Mama was doing. If you look at the sequels, she's the one setting the bedtime routine, sorting out his baths, etc. I wonder if Grandma and Littlefoot struggled with this shift, both having to deal with their grief of losing Mama Longneck whilst Grandma had to step in to do most of what Mama had done before.

Both grandparents would have had to adjust since Mama Longneck was probably doing most of the parenting work, but I'd say Grandma faced the bigger change with her relationship with Littlefoot. Their love never changed, but how they expressed it had to when they became Littlefoot's primary caretakers. That's my take on it anyway.  :p

Honestly, I feel like the first film should've delved a little more into Littlefoot's grandparents. It would've been very interesting to see how they were like during that time, and what their interactions with their daughter were like.

Agreed. I think it would have made the ending more rewarding too, if we had seen Littlefoot interacting with his grandparents and it showed just how strong their bond was.
That's a very insightful response. Your insights on Grandma in particular make me wish we focused on her relationship with Littlefoot more. It would've been something really emotional and complex to see.

33
Wow, I never thought about this before. Yeah, her only shining moments throughout the franchise were her song in IV and her role in XIII. You'd think we'd get more out of her now that she's the only maternal figure Littlefoot has in his life.

General Land Before Time / Re: LBT: What do you use it for?
« on: November 08, 2021, 05:37:15 PM »
LBT has always been a source of nostalgia for me. It was one of the tenets of my childhood, and it's something I always love to look back on whenever I reminisce about my childhood. And yes, it can also be a source of comfort for me, whenever I feel like adulthood is being too harsh on me and I want to think about simpler times.

35
I don't have any specific favorites in the franchise, but I always liked it whenever the Sharpteeth showed up. (I'm a big theropod fan.)

Character Discussion / Re: Top 10 favourite Characters
« on: November 08, 2021, 05:32:01 PM »
6. Guido - Who could've seen this coming? I know for sure that I didn't, but after watching the movie again, I grew to appreciate his character more. Here is a person who likely lost everything before winding up in the valley. Though, I wish they'd actually included backstory for this character. That could have changed everything.

Man, if Guido had gotten a backstory, that would've been so cool! I've thought about exploring that in fanfiction before...lots of potential!
I've always presumed that since he sleep-flies, he may have hit his head hard while crash-landing in the Great Valley and that's why he can't remember his past. Indeed, it's a very interesting scenario to write about.

Okay, I don't want to offend anyone with this list, this is just my opinion.
Nah, you're good. The worst you'll ever get here is probably confusion on some of the choices.

General Land Before Time / Re: Journey of the Brave five years later

I think, yeah, that was part of the issue I originally had as well. Returning to the tone of the first movie seems like a bit of a pipe dream at this point, but I do wish they had at least styled it closer to the earlier sequels.
Yeah, a style like that would be pretty fine to see. A compromise between the original's dark tone and the more lighthearted one that we've come to expect from the later sequels.

Its creepily ironic that Sierra tries to murder Ducky, when the original voice for Ducky, Judith Barsi, was murdered. :o

Not very tactful and sensitive Universal.
The crews for LBT I and VII were different, so I'm doubtful that the crew for VII was aware of what happened to Ducky's original VA.

I honestly never noticed anything weird with the colors. Not even during the underground scenes. It must've been your video and/or TV.

The thing is, 10 played with colors a lot during certain scenes. So perhaps they tried to do that in Tinysaurs but with the color purple.
Really? I never noticed any playing around with the colors. Would you mind providing examples?
