LBT Projects / Fandub of The Land Before Time (1988)

Several years ago we prepared for a land before time audio play project which in the end fizzled out for which I think I deserve a portion of the blame.
Everyone can see though that there is still an own section for the LBT audio play project here in the project section. What I would recommend is for a list of different quotes from different LBT characters to be created. Then everyone who would like to participate in such a project could create an audio play of him or herself impersonating these characters. Either by popular vote or by the decision of the one starting the project the different speakers could be assigned to roled (whereby of course one should keep in mind which characters a voice actor really WANTS to play, but on the other hand it would not work out of course in case five people applied for Littlefoot).
I would be interested in participating, but I don't suppose I would be suited for any role that comes without a slight but notable accent :lol
I was thinking about that. I was thinking that if one person applied for a certain role then all applicants would do a line that requires a lot out of them and see who performs the sequence the best. For instance, if this were to happen then everyone would vote on who performed the best and it would be fair.
@ malte Hmm? I wonder if maybe you could make spike noises? Or maybe you could gruff up your voice and be cera's dad maybe?
edit: more than one person

I saw there was a voices project here a few years ago. Several members voiced characters, as they sang a bunch of the songs in the series. I don't know about dubbing a whole movie though. That voices project is pretty dead right now, as far as I can tell. I've only been here a few months, so I was never a part of it.

If I had a voice that fit, I think it'd be fun.
This is at vonboy and belmont2500, tell me which character you'd like to voice.

Well see now I feel silly for being so nervous. You are all clearly more welcoming than most people. I'm glad to be a part of such a huge LBT fan base :smile

We're gonna need 2 more girls. We need Ducky and Littlefoot's mom. If ya'll know anybody willing to fill those 2 parts then we got a movie.
EDIT: Can't exactly give a green light to this yet, in case anybody else wants to play the same part. Then auditions will have to be held for the characters.

Welcome to the GoF! Hope you enjoy your stay!

Is there other animation you love?
Yes there is. I loved the Secret of NIMH. Second wasn't the best but I found it ok. American Tail was a classic. I also like all the Disney Classics. Not the sequels. I'd have to say in my list of favorite cartoons, The Lion King takes second place, behind TLBT of course.

Let me be the hundredth or so person to say you're pictures are amazing! I love your teenage characters. They actually look like something you would see if the LBT characters were to grow up in the show or movies. I'd give your pictures 4 thumbs up but sadly I only have two  :smile . Keep up the good work. I'd love to see more.

Thanks guys for the warm welcome.
@ trulyfantasticme The original is my best movie of all time. It is the first movie I put on when I feel like watching the classics.
I'm a bit new to this so I don't know how much I'll be posting at first. But once I get used to most of you guys I'm sure I'll lose the hesitancy. I may come off a bit
:crazy but I'm the good  :crazy . Looking forward to meeting more people.

I don't know how I overlooked this forum. I just wanted to introduce myself as I haven't given proper introduction. I'm Justin, from Texas. I live in the States, Louisiana (sad little town I live in). Um, my favorite LBT movies are 1-9, 1 being the top of that list. I found this site while trying to find those uncut scenes. No luck there. Um, I enjoy doing vigorous physical activities, such as rope and rock climbing, running, swimming. I am a very talkative, outspoken person, if I can get comfortable enough. If you want to know anything else, just ask. I'll answer if you're willing to ask.  :wave

Yeah, they did this a few years ago I think. Like did all the songs and stuff. But, I think that if I had a voice that fit any character I'd like to do it.
I really liked the songs. I have em on my computer. They did a good job with those. I would love to have my younger voice as I was told back then that I sounded like a Littlefoot. But no more.

Yea I saw those posts. The songs were good. I was just wondering if anybody would be interested in fandubbing the entire movie. I for one am all for it. Although I do not have the voice for any of the characters, maybe Cera's dad. I think this would be a really fun project to try. Fingers crossed

I didn't know if I should post this here or in some other area but I deduced that this was an LBT project. So I was recently watching The Land Before Time and I, knowing the film oh so well, was speaking every line in the movie. And then I started thinking of this site. Then, I started thinking, "Hey, what if members of the GoF did a fan dub of the film?" And so I am posting the idea here. I will give details if many people are interested. If not... it was worth a shot.

LBT Projects / The Land Before Time Mountains That Burn Scene
« on: June 23, 2011, 09:02:27 PM »
I was a little nervous about posting this, but I feel like I can get over my shyness and just post this anyway. I was working with the Mountains that Burn scene from the first LBT. Basically, I muted the entire clip and added an edited version of The Rescue/Discover of the Great Valley track from the soundtrack. It is a bit off, due to the fact that I have no prior editing skills. I, in my opinion, found the scene more disturbing and action-packed without the background voices and sounds. Oh, and I flipped the video in order to avoid copyright issues. And thankfully it worked.

Listening to the score of this movie makes me sad. It was so wonderfully composed, a masterpiece.
Heh, that's James Horner for ya. Just like with Titanic, he always knows how to get to us. One thing I find funny about the score, is the entire sounctrack is basically based around about 6 diferent melodies, all played together in different ways.

AS for me, things have changed. When I first watched this again (a few months ago), I would have said the Death scene. But since then, I find it less and less saddening..at least, I don't burst into tears as I watch it. Now, that honour is reserved for the ending. Just the combination of the visuals, the flashback, the score. It's all brilliant. It's a classic case of earning your happy ending, after having watched Littlefoot going through so much crap in such a bleak landscape.
The ending always does get me. More then any scenes of the rest of the film. That feeling that wells up inside me at seeing the darkness fade away and then the music plays and Littlefoot says "The Great Valley." I just lose it. It's just such an overwhelmingly happy ending. :')

Land Before Time TV Series (2007) / who would you like to meet?
« on: June 23, 2011, 02:29:22 AM »
I would like to meet Littlefoot's mother, Mo, Ozzy and Strut, and the Sharptooth from the 1st film. Littlefoot's mother and Sharptooth because both were my favorite characters in the first film. Mo because he is such a fun little Icthyosaur. And Ozzy and Strut because they are a hilarious couple of dinosaurs. "Eggs."

I have to disagree with the Littlefoot and Ali idea. Grandma Longneck stated in the movie that the herd of longneck were cousins to them. So, I'd have to vote against that one.
The way you are thinking of may not be 100% true.  The fact is that the relationship between the two differs from language to language.  In fact, they could mean it in a completely different manner.

I know in one language, it is actually translated to "kinfolk", which would mean that they share a common ancestor, but may be far apart enough in terms of family for it to deemed more acceptable in the modern world.

In fact, if you think about it, they live in a time before us and their terms differ from what we have.  Perhaps the term "cousin" could mean something we're not familiar with all together.

So really, it may not be as wrong as you may think.

Anyways, to answer, I go with Littlefoot & Ali, followed by Ducky & Petrie. :)
Thanks for taking me out of the box. I never thought of it that way.

I have to disagree with the Littlefoot and Ali idea. Grandma Longneck stated in the movie that the herd of longneck were cousins to them. So, I'd have to vote against that one. I like Sue and the Ultrasaurus she met in X. I wonder how their relationship is going, if it is still going.
