It's at http://www.landbeforetime.com/main.html

They finally updated the website! Can you believe it? It's been years since they did that.

I'm in shock.

They actually...

Completely redid...
the official site!

And they redid it well, too! They actually care about the website! I never would have guessed.

That's much nicer than the ugly purple one they had for so long.  I don't really like the over-reliance on flash, but its certainly an improvement. :)

Agreed - I didn't like the purple version, either. And the Flash gets irritating after a while.

I was wondering WHEN such an update would come. I checked out the page just a few days ago. The update must have been made very recently. I agree that altogether it is an imporvement, though I prefered the way the page was at the very beginning, before the design that has now been changed. Back then they had a kind of trail of footprints between icons leading to pages with short descriptions of the individual movies. I think they kept up that design until LBT 8 and then abandoned it for the design which has now been replaced. It can hardly be denied that the new design focuses very much on LBT 12 and the upcomming series. In the plans of universals the LBT movies of the past seem to be not more than a footnote; but then again, I suppose this was the case for a very long time already, so there is no visible change of concept.

I don't find flash that annoying. Makes everything feel more interactive :p

I gotta say, I love the character bios they wrote out, and the little sub text after each one's name. It's so true about Cera, she has a sensitive side, but tries so hard to hide it.

But anyway...

The 12th movie looks really good! Can't wait til it comes out! :^.^:

I don't really like the gang's titles - "Lovable", "Devoted", etc. Did anyone else notice that they colored Petrie wrong?

But...hmm. I would have never pegged Guido as a Microraptor. O_o And...Petrie is a Pteranodon, not a Pteradactyl. And, um, Triceratops doesn't have the largest head - that's Torosaurus - or the hardest - that's Pachycephalosaurus. XD But oh well. Guess I'm reading too much into things.

Yea, "Lovable" was really corny :p I mean come on, he's the leader of the gang, they could've picked a better one!

Yeah we knew Petrie was a pteranodon for a while. :)  For a while me and Malte had a discussion on what Ducky was because the official site was entirely incorrect on the old descriptions...seems that they now agree with us on her species as a parasaurolophus.  :DD

...I always thought Ducky was a Saurolophus. Parasaurolophus have those huge backwards-sweeping crests. Ducky's mom, an adult, has this stub of a thing exactly like Saurolophus.

I thought Ducky was a saurolophus, not a parasaurolophus. The crest isn't long enough. I think they had parasaurolophuses show up in the sequels and they look different than Ducky's kind.

The website gets many biological facts wrong (such as the Triceratops head mentioned above.) Anyway, Ducky's crest is much too short for her to be a parasaurolophus, she is indeed a saurolophus as you said. I also think that Littlefoot may have been modeled after an ultrasaurus, but they call him an apatosaurus anyway (maybe.)

I thought Littlefoot was modeled after Brontosaurus back when it was considered a real dinosaur.

Hi Petrie; cut the "Para" ;)
As the others already said Ducky is not a "Para"saurolophus and back then you and I also agreed that she was probably a Saurolophus.
The most distinct example for Ducky not being a Parasaurolophus is a scene during LBT 4 song "Grandma's lullaby" in which we see some young parasaurolophus. Their crests are larger and form a line with the bridge of their noses. Ducky's crest grows almost from the center of her occiput. Scientifically there is no species with a crest so misplaced, but looking at Ducky's parents (where the crest seems to have undergone a kind of upwards shift) Saurolophus seems to most plausible.
Official sources have claimed Ducky to be a Parasaurolophus or even an Anatosaurus (Anatosaurus had no crest whatsoever!), but I suppose by now we should have grown accustomed to the fact that there is a shortage of dinosaur experts in Universal's office for public information
In Petrie's case the problem is similar (I don't quite agree that his species has been identified beyond any doubts). He, his mother, and his sibilings look more like a crested kind of Pterodactylus, while Pterano is clearly supposed to be a Pteranodon. Again the crests are the causer of confusion.

As for the titles given to the characters, there was clearly somebody fond of alliterations (subsequent words starting out with the same letter or syllable). Generally I have a certain favor for alliterations myself, but I wholeheartedly agree that they sound really enforced here.
They added the "gentle giant" in Spike's case just to have an alliteration where they found none to his s.
At least they spared us a "chomping Chomper" or a "cranky Cera" :lol
Guido too seems to have given them a problem.

As for Littlefoot DarkHououmon, Apatosaurus and Brontosaurus describe the same species. An Apatosaurus sceleton (described previously) was discovered and mistaken for an entirely new species which was named "Brontosaurus". When it turned out that there was no such new species the name "Brontosaurus" was abandoned by the scientists, but had already entered public conscience. At least in this case there is some sense of Paleontology in the offices of Universal's as they are using the scientifically correct name ;)

The older site already described Ducky as a Saurolophus and so did the DVD's. This new improved version is a lot better than the previous website. Haven't had time to explore it but I think they took out the Frieds area with all the other characters.
Another thing, that song "I want to go back to the Land Before Time" it'a not the first time I've heard it, why?
This question is a bit odd, but the thing is I don't relate it to any of the sequels or to the series.

The older site described Ducky as a parasaurolophus. Here's a screenshot from the old page: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/292601...h+age_scale%3A5

Heh heh, what a goof I am.  I even said Ducky was a saurolophus in the character thread I put in the projects section.  I didn't even check my own notes.    :slap
