Title: Dink, the Little Dinosaur
Post by: NewOrder on July 22, 2007, 04:50:17 PM
Have you guys seen it? I kind of liked it when I was a kid, it rarely showed on CN though, but when it did I always tried to tape it =P

It's a complete rip off of lbt, but it had its own merits.

I've never heard of it. What was it like? I read a Wikipedia article, but you know how that goes.... It wasn't very informative, anyway, but from what I heard, it was indeed a spoof-off. "Dinosaur Valley" indeed.  <_<

I've seen it, used to love it. It was a lot like Land Before Time, basically. It had some differences though, such as, though rarely, the meat-eaters did speak.

It also, like LBT, taught different morals, like don't judge someone by their appearance, and how lying can get you into trouble.

My personal favorite episode was the one with Scratcher. He was a raptor who was raised as a plant-eater. He befriends Scat (the "Petrie" of the series, though he was a compsognathus) but soon runs away to become a real predator.  The carnivore who is teaching him tells him to eat Scat, but Scratcher refuses and lets Scat go. Furious the dinosaur shouts "YOU'RE NO HUNTER!" and attacks Scratcher.

In the end I think Dink and the others save them, and the predator falls into quicksand. But instead of just leaving him, Dink decides to help him and, together, they free the predator.

I got very few episode of Dink the Little Dinosaur. They scattered on half dozen or so video tapes that when it was out on TV Dad recorded it and funny enough it was airing on CBBC right till just after 2003 repeats of course. that changed when they brought out all those new rubbish new children programs that really I dislike. The old cartoons they kept reairing on CBBC I use to love to watch no matter how old I was. they was just amazing shows that could even be watched by adults. but these new ones... they bring me shivers down my spine, they just crap, these new CBBC and CITV cartoons that they have no real rating since only little kids watch it.

They should reair all the old cartoons, todays kids would love them just as much as we did.

I've never seen it and I don't plan to.  LBT is the only kid show I actually like.  Other stuff is just...well...let's just say that I've grown out of the other stuff.  Nothing holds any appeal to me anymore except for LBT.

Dink The Little Dinosaur was actually a good show. Too bad it didn't air for too long. You should give it a chance.

I wish I could watch Dink :(
VHS wouldn't work on the video recorders over here though. I hope that somebody will some day put in on youtube or else a DvD will be released.

Actually I think it is the other way round. Unless I'm very mistaken the Dink movies were created in 1989, after the original land before time movie but before the LBT sequels, the first of which was released in 1994. From what I hear about the content it appears that Dink inspired some of the sequels. It would be really interesting to see this source material for the creators of LBT.

Try cleaning the heads of your VCR, with one of those tapes used to clean them, don't know how they're called.

Well, there are many similarities between the sequels and Dink, that's highly possible. I think I have a couple of tapes of him, I'll have to check, the problem is most of my tapes have mold and don't work anymore \:

It was a great show, I only hope it comes out on DVD.

I've seen some episodes long ago, but don't remember much of the show.  I do remember it came on pretty early here.  I do remember they had Amber, a flyer, Dink, a little sharptooth or he looked like a small sharptooth, can't recall if he was or not, I assume not, forgot his and the flyer's names.

Hello:
I think that with me it was all the opposite way than most of you, I began watching Dink, the Little Dinosaur and some years later I got to see TLBT. Dink was a great show, not the best animation but much better than most of the actual cartoons, they teached morals and was very fun to see.
Now that I got to see a chapter of TLBT serie about the river goes dry, it was just like a Dink's episode, but Dink solved it in half the time :p (10 minutes).
I'd really to see Dink again.

Hello:
When I first saw TLBT's cover at first I thought it was a Dink's movie :D . Then some time after that I saw a part of it and I couldn't take it out of my head because I had to leave (the scene when that Pteranodon gives that cherrie to Littlefoot). Whn I could finally see it I really enjoyed the movie, and it is still one of my big favourites.
I still remember Dink and I have recorded some of the episodes, and I hope someone could post DInk's chapters somewhere, and I don't have any problem to watch it in english B) .

Dink the Little Dinosaur has started to air on Boomerang. It airs every day at 9:00 AM. I have currently recorded Dink Come Home, The Hollow Tree, Uncle Longbeak, Surprise, Phantom of the Cave, Old Timers, Badge of Courage, Search, White Beauty, Tricera-Scat, Amber's Crusade, and Dry River. Due to problems with cable, Uncle Longbeak and Surprise are both in bad quality. The sound is fine, for the most part, but the visual is bad. I'll try to record as many episodes as I can.

I kept my eyes peeled for any Dink episodes for a long time. I never saw a single episode but I often read about it and I am very curious about it. Anndi McAffee (Cera) spoke in Dink before she came to the land before time. I never found any Dink episodes on youtube so far or anywhere else either. Of which size are your recordings Kacie?

I once had the same problem when I recorded "1984" and it had the German and the English audio track playing at the same time. Sometimes TV programs allow the viewer to pick from different language versions. I must admit I don't know how to pick one of the two tracks when recording, but I'm quite sure there is some way. Does anyone else know about this?

I know some channels do a simulcast in both analog and Digital, at least pbs does, I assume if pbs does both do.  Especially since next February 17, 2009, they have to stop transmitting analog signals, unless the big corporations and special interest groups order congress to change  it like they did last time they changed it.

Hello:
Well, before this may turn into some kind of a fight, two things I may say:
1) We are all free to give our opinions, but
2) It is not what we say but how we say things, I hope this will not turn into a real problem in here but I may tell you mcr mad, it would be best for you to choose your words before using them, because it is very different to say "I didn't like this show" than to say "it was crap", because it sure will offend people like DH, me and other people that really like the show.
Please do note, I am not nagging, it is just an advice that could really help you to avoid problems in the future.

Yeah, I agree. People have different opinions. But if you want to express them, you have to be careful on how you word it, otherwise you'll end up insulting someone who thinks differently than you.

I suggest you to be very careful in the way you express. I love cartoons and different shows; some are good, others are not but this is not right to say “they’re crap”, that way you can easily offend others and you already did it. I like Dink the Little Dinosaur. For me it was a nice cartoon and I would like to see the show again. DH loves the show a lot and I’m sure she feels offended and I don’t like that.
Title: Dink, the Little Dinosaur

After all not everyone can like the same shows.

It's easy to say "It is ..."  If I dislike something I try to always say, I don't didn't like it.  It's easy to forgot and a thing I learned to do over time and thinking/contemplating.

I wonder if Dink will be out on dvd sooner or later.  Some other shows have done so, He-man, Bravestar, Denver the Last Dinosaur is on dvd, or was.

I don't recall much about it at all.  I think I may enjoy watching it, but watching a segment in a language I do not understand isn't a good way to tell.  Though from just watching the images and guessing at what was said, and what was happening I think I'd enjoy watching it.

True, though I can't understand the dialog, apart from a word here and there, one can still guess at some of the dialog from the actions going on on screen.  Still sorta interesting to have the phrase 'oh boy', at the beginning, and later on, 'ok scat', which all sound like English.

It's like watching Felidae in german, only understanding their names and the word "no"

That's sad about the lack of eps online thou...luckily there was at least one...

Now they have the episode " White Beauty" on youtube. I like this show. This episode is pretty cool, especially the fact that a female Parasaurolophus was actaully fighting. That right there has yet to be seen in TLBT movies and the television series.

Well I don't know if it's still listed do to the fact I have Bright House cable, but I'll check anyway. Even though like I said the fight in White Beauty was intresting and I think we might see something like that in future LBT movies and t.v. episodes.

If someone has the ability and whatever hardware it takes to put dink on home dvd's one could get the vhs tapes of dink and transfer them.  I've no idea how easy or hard that is or how to do it.  That is one possibility.

Hello:
That's good indeed, I wish I have Boomerang here and I wish Boomerang shows Dink in latin America.
It would also be awesome if more chapters of Dink begin been uploaded into Youtube, because it is too hard to find anything of Dink anywhere and I (and I bet many people) will have the chance to see the chapters.

Dink likely has more fans then some would think.  It would be nice if more could see it, and if more were uploaded.  One or both may occur at some point.

Hello:
Yes it is, it is a fun chapter, poor Amber :lol .
Did you notice the details I mentioned? of the Archeopteryx and the panoramic view of that section of Green Meadow?
About the chapters and that youtube user: wow two chapters in two days, the only way I could feel happier is if that the user can post more episodes soon :wow .

I saw the episode.  It could be an Archeoptryx (or however you spell that) indeed.  It was an interesting segment.  More of Amber and Shyler, with her other friends just doing an extended cameo at the beginning.

An interesting episode and fun to watch.  Another one that seemed to focus on Amber and Shyler.  I wonder if they did that often, or if different characters had episodes that focused on them just as much.   It seems the uploader is skipping around a bit as it is 1x10b.  It may be however they are being shown on their tv or however they are getting them.

Hello:
Our wishes are getting fulfilled, because I haven't seen this many chapter in ages (since it was first shown I belive) I truly hope more chapters will get uploaded :yes .
You are right Kor, the last 2 uploaded chapters are more focused on Amber and Shyler, but I have seen episodes and names (since I don't remember all episodes) focused on other characters of the Green Meadow Gang, for example, in season 2 there are many chapters focused on Scat, other example may be "Dink, come home"  which is focused on Dink and Flapper.
Title: Dink, the Little Dinosaur
Post by: Kor on December 21, 2008, 05:24:50 PM
Some of the others focused on Amber also, White Beauty also did, though Shell Game seems to be more focused on Scat & a bit on Crusty, though all of the characters are in it.

Hello:
That is nice, because it allows you to get to know the characters better, but still not letting the other characters to a side, still everybody interacting.
There is a chapter when Dink is forced to fight a threehorn-like dinosaur (cannot remember why)... it was the first time I saw a sauropod to stand only in the rear legs... Dink is a far better fighter than Littlefoot :DD .

That does sound interesting.  Maybe Dink can teach Littlefoot.
