I am sorry Noname. I like you very much, but what you are doing here is just childish. I am sorry but it¥s true. You can read my statetement to this in the awards thread Kacie opened, I am not going to write this again here..

I think those who have "runner ups" next to their award lines need to remove them.  If you were the winner or runner up in a category, you won the award for the year.  That's the way the rules worked.  About the only thing you need to do is make sure you're not using the same picture as the other person.

noname...you can't vote yourself for the award no matter how much you think you deserve it.  This is a community activity, not an individual one.  If the community voted for you, you would receive the award.  If they didn't, well, tough luck....that's life.  I haven't won anything in three years and you don't hear me whining about it.  You need to remove that award within the next day or the admins will.

Noname, I know exactly how you feel, believe me. Read my post in the other topic for yourself. However, although I understand your feelings, it does not mean I agree with them. You are entitled to your own opinion, I'm not going to try and change it. I will try to help you realize the truth about the matter though, and I want this to sound as nice as possible.

It really doesn't matter if you get an award. Awards, recognitions, honors, etc... are not what make people who they are. People don't remember soldiers in the army for the medals they are given or the honors named after them. People remember them for what they did in order to be recognized for the award. People remember soldiers for running back into the heat of a gunfight to save their comrade. To shy away from war, people remembered Rosa Parks even though she didn't receive an award (at least not to my knowledge, correct me if I'm wrong), because she stood up for her beliefs and would not let society tell her otherwise.

I'm trying not to make this sound like a lecture, which is probably failing miserably  , but the whole point is you can't let an award tell you you are a good person, and you can't let not having an award tell you that you are not a bad person. I had to realize this the hard way, but I understand it. I was hoping to get an award, and I didn't. I used to be frustrated, but now I'm completely fine with it. Heck, now I'm just happy I was even nominated for an award this year, and I know sooner or later if I try harder I will get one, but that's not the point.

If you really want something, you have to work hard at it, and ONLY that. But honestly, you shouldn't do something for an award. You should do it because you want to and that you enjoy it.

I added the 2006 award instead.

My participation is not "shallow in a sense" because I was not here all of the time; I have real-life responsibilities to take care of as well, as I was busy recently. One should look at the whole of the participation of a member, and not just a snippet going back a month or so before the voting.

If you had an issue with the "honorable mention" award, which has been replaced with a real one... you could have brought it up with the one who had granted me one... Nick22. Although, I must ask you, what IS it that you had against him granting it to me... I mean REALLY! It makes no real difference to the forum...

We cannot allow people to be awarded for complaining about not receiving an award.

I agree with this. Giving an award for complaining about not having one will only nurture the bad behavior, in my opinion. If someone has to complain about not recieving an award so they would get it, I feel they don't deserve that award. No offense intended or anything. I just don't believe it's fair or morally sound to be granted an award by complaining.

I don't want that to happen either; really, I don't. It is not a complaint which EVER merits an award, but the reasons one gives, especially if they are valid.

If nothing else, I will probably win the "proactive" award next time... if you have any way of observing my participation... it will be going way, way, WAY up.

None of us even realized that was the case.  We've changed rules in recent times to prevent that from happening so one admin can't make sweeping changes without others to approve of it as well.  As it stands, we didn't allow this "honorable mention" so nobody gets that.

Thank you for your understanding.

I understand and will not seek to get that "honorable mention" back on my sig... although I'd hardly call that a "sweeping change."

Noname. as Fox of these forums, I'll go ahead and grant you an award.

How's this sound for a tap: The Most Persistent Member Award!

I'll try to find a picture of Cera trying too hard. xD

on the bright side, you've been here long enough for several people to know you. So what if you didn't win an award this year. Niether did I!

The award thing in my opinion is just for fun. Take Nick's advise and just pick something and try harder. Dont be such a nag! Your still a welcome member here.

so smile =)

life is good

I've not trying to be a "nag", I'm just rather... indignant... but thanks anyway.

And my efforts payed off! Look, I got a "Member of 2006" award, which, had I not been the "squeaky wheel", I would not have gotten.

As it is, getting mad is no good' I'll just get even. A whole year is a long blasted time to wait... so I will increase my posting level over that time from moderate to much, much higher.

If anyone has anything which can measure posts by the day, look for my number of posts to be much higher after May 30th relative to my previous time...

If I have 150 posts a day for a year... that is far more than anyone else... and I will improve the quality as well as quantity...

But my talking about what I will do won't really win me anything, so I will just post until everyone knows my name... publicity really helps here.

150 is probably an exaggeration... I won't really have that sort of time for long. As it is, many of those are just one-word posts on the party room activities.

Not to burst your bubble noname, but if I'm correct every active member who joined GOF in 2006 would get that award, so you probably didn't need to be the "squeeky wheel" to get, because you most likely would have gotten it anyway.

It wasn't really given to me until Malte showed it to me a short while ago... and I was never really made aware of it... and few people from 2006 have it. The very fact that I have stayed her constantly since that time is merit for that, I guess, and it belongs in the same category as the other awards, so it is still good. Besides, someone who joined later doesn't get it, so... at least it is... well... "irreplaceable."

Actually, there was a topic, months ago I believe, that had that award plus the people who have earned it. If memory serves right, both my and your username was listed, Noname. I can't remember who made the topic, but I do recall finding it and that's how I got my Member 2006 award in my signature.

I was not made aware of it until very recently; I did not say that it wasn't posted, but that I was not immediately aware of it.

Quality not quantity, noname. ;)  If you're going on a posting spree, it better be a worthwhile one.

Which was nobody else's fault. There was a post with the award and a list of all who were entitled to have it in their signature. You can lead a horse to the water, you can't make it drink.

Holy mackerel!
I honestly belive that a posting rate of that quantity would do nothing else than tick other people off. That's an awful lot of activity...
If one is looking for popularity, there are better ways to achieve that...
