"Mountain of Dinosaurs" was released in 1967 in USSR.
There is only 1 episode of 9 minutes.
This cartoon would seem hard and/or brutal to somebody.
English subtitles are included.

...
Severe cartoon indeed...
Never have seen it before.

wait... there was a Soviet LBT move nearly 20 years before the original?
-
lol, I think there were a lot of cartoons about dinosaurs before 1988. :P

I don't think so. I've tried to find other Soviet cartoons about dinosaurs, and I found only two:
- "Vasya and Dinosaur" - a stop-motion cartoon from 1971, as for me it is quite boring. Made in Ukraine.
- "Dinosaurik" - a hand-drawn cartoon from 1982, the dinosaur is just a single character among a bunch of not dinosaurs and he doesn't look as dinosaur at all. Also quite boring. Made in Belarus.

So, "Mountain of Dinosaurs" is the only good Soviet cartoon about dinosaurs. I don't know what about other countries. I've read a couple of "Top 10 cartoons about dinosaurs", but the most of titles were released in 21th century. LBT was also presented in these top-lists and it was the oldest.

Wowers, that was dark.

What was the cartoon's moral?
-
It is said that author of this cartoon was saying that it is about over-excessive guardianship, that there's some point where it starts to harm than help. Like egg shell didn't let new generation of dinosaurs to be born to take a chance and try to acclimatize to survive inside the new climate.

Did this have any relation to the Cold War?
