Well, I finally decided to do a real dual boot test with windows vista.  Here are the specs on the computer I tested with:

Overall, the computer is sluggish despite having 2gb of ram, a 2.4ghz processor and a 200gb hard drive.  I have the hard drive split into 2 separate partitions with 100gb for each operating system (xp and vista).  Overall, the system I'm testing gets a 4-5 (the best it can get) score on most things besides graphics.

Just for giggles, I put in a very expensive video card to see if that would improve matters.  It did.....a little.  I can't see how Microsoft could've called this OS ready.  Even with an excellent computer, it's as slow as a slug! :bang The next OS after xp should have required around:

600mhz

256mb ram

5gb hard drive

But instead, they've got this massive bulk of visual crap.  Yeah, it's very pretty, but quite frankly, no one really gives a S***.  I LOVE vista's visual style and it's really cool transitions, but enough is enough! Why in the world do you need a freaking $2000 computer just to be able to run the OS decently?! :mad

Agree, Vista is a bit too far out. A friend of mine bought it, and he quickly dicided to change back to xp, becouse of poor gaming perfermance. Personally, I'd rather stick to xp for the next few years, untill they get that system under control.

I have vista on pc2, and it seems not to great.  Once I get a new sata hdd I'll likely be going to xp for pc2.  It seems many are having problems with Vista.    I still recall the comment made by a regular on either the Pc Gamer or Maximum Pc Podcast though I think I've already said here what he said, that he took vista off of his computer because he likes being able to use his computer.  I've not had problems like that, just annoyances here and there.

Vista needs updates, and soon. However, don't ever do this, even if you're mad on Vista, don't do this. At least not without a camara :D

Made me laugh first time I saw it. I think most have seen this, but if you haven't, then take a look.

Enjoy

Littlefoot loves windows vista and his computer is around the exact specs as the one I'm testing here.  I can't imagine why he likes the slow downs and hassles.

I have Vista on my new laptop (not my choice, it came with it). I don't use my laptop for heavy-duty gaming though, so many of Vista's problems don't apply to me. Although... I have noticed that settings in my control panel keep changing themselves (just today I had to adjust the resoloution back to its former self).

It'll probably be mandatory and will increase vista's requirements by tenfold. -_-

HAHAHA really you made me laugh this time pal. Look pal. I will show you the specs of my pc. My pc never slow down like you said. I love Vista because I have more advantages with it than XP and I have a pc to run it. I use my pc to do more complicated things than work with ms paint. So don't speak about something that you dont know.

Well, of course you're running Home Premium while I'm running Ultimate, which is a large difference.  I still don't see how vista runs so well on your computer.  It's like a slug on mine.  The stupid sidebar takes forever to come up during boot.  This is not just my computer either.  I've installed vista on a lot of computers, some my own and other's clients.

Wait a minute.....is your copy of vista legit or did you download some tweaked cracked copy?

I really don't see any advantages that vista has over xp except for it's cool theme and better multimedia features.  I know there's advantages in the gaming aspect, but what does it do for you if you're not a gamer?

Vista is no good for digital audio work, either.  It eats up too much valuable memory.  I'm not sure about actual *performance* but I need all the useable RAM I can get my hands on, so Vista is out until I have no other choice. :p

Compare the specs of the computer you're running it on, LBTlover, to what Littlefoot is running though.  Littlefoot's 6000+ dual core cominates your 3400+.  Of course he'll get better performance.  :wow

I'm curious as to how well my system would handle Vista, though I really don't suspect it would be an issue.  If I wasn't so concerned about saving RAM, I'd consider it more seriously.

Call me strange but I actually prefer the windows classic look to the XP look. :P:
I can't really explain it, I guess I find it less cluttered and I prefer the lower contrast in the colours, etc.

C'mon, ya know you waaaaant it. :lol

Do you like the vista look over windows classic?

Here's the specs of my main master computer in my office.  For some reason, I've never upgraded my master even though I have much better computers lying around.

This computer has a P4 2.66ghz processor, 2gb of ram, and 2 1,000gb hard drives.  It could probably handle vista reasonably well.
