Hi everyone!

I wanted to give you guys updates on how I'm doing with my upcoming LBT site.

Now, I ran into a problem very, very, VERY early into it's development.  I was trying to create one at webs.com, but the big problem came when I found that NO LBT videos could be posted.  Yep, none whatsoever.  They were completely blocked by the site provider.

Weebly quickly held another problem.  I couldn't make the site, period.  They only allow up to two sites for free.  I have to pay for up to 8 other sites I may want.  So forget that, especially with the fact that I'll be short on cash soon. (Crappy work hours.  I'll talk about it in the Walmart topic in After Midnight.)

And after a nice long search showing no one would help me here, I quickly found that I was on my own.

So now, I have found that I need to do it from scratch.  No website provider.  No nothing.

Luckily, I know how to search for what I need.

I have now created the basic design for the site with Photoshop, (It was actually quite easy.) and now I'll be using videos on how to put it into HTML, CSS and all the other stuff that's needed.

I'm sure there's something out there that can help me.

If things go well, I should have it all done sometime next week.

So, I'll see ya later! :)

Well, well!  I found the product that's needed.  Well, two actually. :)

They are both at Download.com, both are said to be very easy to use and they are both highly recommended in the User Reviews for beginners such as myself.  Also, they both have a very nice trial time and are at the lowest prices I've ever seen for a website designer. (Under $50.00 each!?  Man, Dreamweaver is SUCH a rip-off!)

Here are the two I'm debating over:

Web Page Maker

Artisteer

The trial time is probably enough time to create the site completely and find the HTML coding and copy and paste it into NotePad or WordPad.  So I may not need to buy them at all if things go well.

Wow!  When it comes down to it, it really doesn't take much to create a website these days, does it? ;)

Forget Web Page Maker Pokeplayer.  Once you've exported it......editing it again is pure hell.  Just download a few free books on HTML and CSS and you'll be having a good time real fast.  I've got a few thousand great web templates you can use from back in the days when I needed help when making a website.  It's really not that hard.  Here.  Download and take a look at this template.  I think it's got potential:

http://lbtserver.2myip.net/UniversalUploadFolder/AND6.zip

EDIT:  Or if you want I'll give you the code to my first prototype for my Silverline Productions website.  I wrote it from scratch in Notepad but it's pretty sophisticated nevertheless.  You can take it on from where I left off.  I turned that awesome template into something even more awesome.  Let's see if you can do the same.

I might edit my existing Silverline Productions website template even more.  I don't think it suits my needs entirely.  What do you think of the website I have up so far?  I've only spent 16 or so hours on it:

www.lbtserver.2myip.net/silverlineproductions/website

If I do end up modifying it again, I'll give you my current prototype (minus the banner.  That's mine buster. :p ).

Mozilla Composer or Nvu is what I used for a while when making sites.  That may help you out.

Thanks!  I'll check out those LBT Templates. (Although I already have gone to the trouble of creating the basic design look of my own.)

Also, that information for the site you did might come in handy. :D

EDIT: Oh, one last thing.  I plan to make the ONLY one I have for life, okay?  No changes whatsoever.  The coding for it will be copied into a hard drive folder that I have already prepared and it will be backed up just in case I need to reinstall it for whatever reason.

Unfortunately, a little search showed that Mozilla Composer can no longer be used.  The downloads are simply incompatible with some sort of programming on the web now.

Of course, there's plenty of free options these days. :^.^:

Sorry to burst your bubble but you've got to change the design some time.  The site eventually looks old and crappy.  I made this website years ago for a school project in 4th grade and look how horrible it looks to us today:

http://www.freewebs.com/schoolcivilwar/Tab...%20Contents.htm

Please note that it IS hosted on Freewebs, but it's in straight HTML.

The new Silverline Productions website will look pretty old and crappy in 5 years or so and I'll have to change it (though I'll probably change it before then for fun).  No matter how advanced a website looks to us now, it's going to get old.  You think GOF is going to look good in 5 years if Petrie doesn't touch it and Invisionfree doesn't upgrade its systems?  Being a webmaster is a lot of work.  You can't just slap it up on the net and leave it there for all time.

When I make a website from scratch, I don't plan at all.  I just code code code and it eventually becomes something cool.  It's not normally what I expected it to be.......it's usually better! :D You have to be able to make a website that's simple yet eye-catching.  Like on my Silverline Productions website.....do you think those "Popular Images" serve any purpose whatsoever other than to make the site look a little better?  There needed to be something on the side and the banner alone wasn't enough eye candy to get the job done.  The last thing you want is your site to be boring, but it can't be too complicated either.  As I said in an earlier thread.....making a website is an art.  Not everyone can do a good job at it.

___________________________________________

Now on to the topic of coding.  Here is a small part of the CSS of my Silverline Productions website.  See how simply I code?  I code so it's very easy to understand and edit because most of the time I can't remember my own associations!  How much of this can you read Pokeplayer?

Code:  on
body {
  text-align: center;
  background-color: #D5D0B0;
  margin-top:10px;
  margin-bottom:10px;
  color:#D4A017;
  background: #FFFFFF url('http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv47/entaustindame/paragraphbg.jpg');
}

A:link {
   COLOR: #C86000; text-decoration: none
}
A:visited {
   COLOR: #C86000; text-decoration: none
}
A:active {
   COLOR: #C86000; text-decoration: none
}
A:hover {
   COLOR: #b2431b; text-decoration: underline
}

#page_wrapper {
  margin-left: auto;
  margin-right: auto;
  width: 760px;
  text-align: left;
  border: 4px solid #425227;
  background: url('http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv47/entaustindame/darkermainbg.jpg');
}

#page_header {
  height: 155px;
  background: #FFFFFF url('http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv47/entaustindame/namedlogo_small.jpg') bottom left no-repeat;
  clear: both;
}

#page_header h1 {
  padding-top:50px; padding-left:15px;
  margin:0px;
  font-family: verdana;
  font-size: 24px;
  color: #FBD539;
  line-height:26px;
  letter-spacing:-1px;
}

#page_header h2 {
  margin:0px;
  padding-left:15px;
  font-family: verdana;
  font-size: 12px;
  color: #D5D0B0;
  line-height:22px;
}

Do you think you could edit this?

The actual HTML used in my website is quite slim.  This is all of it minus the text that's on the page and the header:

Code:  on
<body>
<br>
<br>

<div id='page_wrapper'>

  <div id='page_header'>

  <div id='menu_bar'>

  <li><a href='disclaimer.html'>Disclaimer</a></li>
  <li><a href='contact.html'>Contact Us</a></li>

  </ul>
  </div>
  </div>
<br>
<br>
  <div id='content_wrapper'>

<div id='right_side'>

Now, I ran into a problem very, very, VERY early into it's development.  I was trying to create one at webs.com, but the big problem came when I found that NO LBT videos could be posted.  Yep, none whatsoever.  They were completely blocked by the site provider.
Well that's strange! I've got one of my lbt videos on the dutch lbt fansite...(hosted at webs.com) Maybe since it's dutch they don't have a problem with it?

As for the weebly thing, how do they check it? Do you have to enter your email or something or do they check it by IP? Of course if they check it by email you could just create another email-address instead of starting from scratch.

They give you an account when you sign up.  The account itself keeps track.  Here's how mine currently looks:

They're site is easily flawed and any amateur with a computer can trick the options on the check list.  So it's most likely indicated by the username and e-mail.

One could easily remove the "Remember Me" option they click by simply using CCleaner.  From there, you could create a new account with a different e-mail.

However, if they spot the fact you have more then one account, you're banned, and since I make it too easy for one to spot it, and the fact that I usually don't do something like this, I'm not going to risk it.

Besides, I would rather go through the trouble of creating a nice custom one of my own rather than pick one of their many pre-provided templates.  They all just don't fit what I've got in mind. :) (Trust me, when it's finished, you guys will love it.)

Okay, I decided to give you guys a little idea of what the site will look like when it's done.

Here are just a few of the pictures I plan to use for the template:

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb237/p...ckyhisTeeth.jpg

Just focus on Ducky's scared look, okay?  That's all I'll be using of this picture.

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb237/p...ggingPetrie.jpg

Oh, and one more:

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa146/t...0album/KFD2.png

I'm so sorry, LBTlover, I could not resist. (Just like I couldn't resist making it a caption.)

Yeah, I'm definitely going all out with LBT stuff here.

I know I may have to lessen the quality to a certain point to make it load up faster but still make them look good, but you get the idea.

Now to look for some more nice pictures I have in mind of using. :D

After quite a bit of nitpicking of what to do, and doing all I can to make it LBT related, here's the official banner for the site:

EVERY Pixel is LBT related.  Some are dead give aways, but try to figure out the rest. :D

What does W D stand for?
What?  It's not obvious? :P:

It stands for: "Watch and Download".

Besides, being able to watch it whenever on the web is the whole point of the site. ;)

There will be strict limitations to certain areas, of course. :D

Please tell me you're not trying to pull off some way to get the full LBT movies on your website.  How are you going to get away with that?  There's no way the host of your website will allow that even if you could get someone like me who has a private server to offer you server space to illegally host the full movies.  Even I with my private server wouldn't be able to get away with that.  They would revoke my .2myip.net domain in an instant.  The only way to illegally host such things would be to 1 have your own server and 2 own a domain name server as well.  Oh, and you'd probably want to have your server hosted in the Philippines too.  Don't want the Feds breaking down your doors. :rolleyes: Just leave it alone and stop trying to illegally host the full movies.  If Universal indeed shuts down LBT for good I'll be the one to offer the full movies.  I have my ways and I know the laws.  I can get away with it.  You on the other hand have no idea what you're getting in to.  You're going to end up getting yourself hurt for this.  It's not worth it.

This will be your ONLY warning regarding this matter.  If you choose to disregard it, that's your problem.  I won't have anything to do with this.  Besides...in order to get away with this legally there must be two criteria.  First off you must have a written and signed statement from the CEO of the production company that makes the film stating that it has been discontinued and second of all you must wait FIVE YEARS before you are able to share any of their material in full quality.  Until then you can get away with it if you comply with the general order quality guidelines but the film must be at least five years old.  There is yet another way around this.  If it is recorded off of the TV then it can be shared in one quarter original TV quality for the purpose of re-watching.  You can share this with an unlimited number of people.  It doesn't say anything about the internet being exempted from this rule (that's one of the reasons the LBT TV episodes on my website can be legally shared).

But these rules change all of the time.  In fact, recently one of the TV episodes I have on my server has become illegal for me to share and I have to recode it (I won't say which one seeing as I haven't gotten around to it yet).  There's no way you can keep up with this.  You lack not only the dedication and resolve but also the sources.  Many of these laws I've revealed in this topic aren't written in layman's terms on some short document.  They're practically hidden inside massive long laws that include 99% meaningless BS and 1% relevant information.  Now do you understand why lawyers get such good money? :p

I'm perfectly willing to share the full LBT movies so long as Universal has discontinued the series.  I don't want to hurt them, but if they no longer want to work for their money I don't see why people should have to pay them anymore.  It will take me at least another 3 years before I can share the full movies IF Universal has indeed shut down the series.  If not there's no way I'll share them.  I want Universal to keep making big money off the series and that they'll see that people love and cherish LBT (and most importantly that it can still make them money).  But if they're killing it off I don't care any more.  Screw them.  They're not making a dime off of not doing anything.  I've given them at least $500 just for LBT (not including other movies).

Okay, I've been busy with thinking over what I really want it to have.  Here's what I've boiled it down to:

Home Page
Song Scenes (Now I just need to find a server that will allow this.)
Music (Here, you would listen to it without the video playing.)
Fan Made Material (Includes Art, Stories and Videos)
Contact Me

The final page is what will make it most unique and what I've been considering the most...

Haters Archive

Yes, a page that shows off the LBT Hater stuff we've come across.  Now, why this, you ask?

Okay, first off, I will say that I understand just how terrible the stuff haters have made really is.  A number of us have seen it and it's just horrible.  However, some don't even realize the full extent of what they have done.  They even turn away potential fans with their stuff.  Those that are turned away think it's the fans themselves who made the stuff and not haters.  They need to know that it's the other way around.  So what if there was a page to show them that it's the haters giving the crap and turning them away from something grand?  What if they could see the truth?  That the fans treat LBT with respect and it's the haters that do these terrible things?

Yes, there will be a warning if this kind of page is actually made, but it'll help others see the truth.  See that they've been mislead this whole time.  THAT is it's main purpose.

Indeed there will be alot put into it.  I'm definitely going to need quite a bit of space here.  So, here's hoping I can find something.

I know you guys have issues with the "Haters Archive", but seriously, what do you think?

To be respectful, it sounds as if the Haters Archive is going to be a collection of material found online by others.  Did you ever consider people may not want their work represented in the way you plan on presenting it on the website?  While I may not like the material the haters create, I am a civil person, and a Hater's Archive isn't really a nice thing to do.

Songs, video clips, I don't know who would host those, or allow it.  Good luck on the search for someone who will.

Hmm... I guess you're right on the hater's archive.  Maybe it is a bad idea.

Also, yeah, I know it won't be easy finding someone that will allow it, but Blogger did when I made that Blog of mine, so I'm sure I can find some sort of web host to allow it.

Take all of the videos I have in your little server, and that's what you would pretty much get.

(Seriously, finding a web host to allow that, it's going to be sweet! :rolleyes: )
