Since my little brother got interested in it, I decided to watch an episode of Transformers: Prime, and I ended up watching the whole first season over a weekend on Netflix. It rocks that much. When I finished, I was left with a feeling of "I've got to do something more with this." Then it hit me. ROLEPLAY TIME!
So, here's the deal. If anyone's interested in starting up an RP, post here with an OC or canon character you'd like to be. As far as a plot goes, I'll create one based on ideas others have, or if no one has ideas, I'll write one myself.
Anyway, if you're interested, post some details about your OC. Pictures are nice as well. Even if it's only the vehicle mode, it can help get the mental image down.
So to start, here's my OC.
Name: Kulbit (after the aerial combat maneuver)
Association: Autobot
Vehicle mode: YF-29 "Pegasus" (modified YF-23)
Backstory: Kulbit was a part of a peacekeeper force on Cybertron before the Autobot/Decepticon war broke out. His ability to fly proved useful to the Autobots, and he quickly sided with them. During the end of the war, he left Cybertron in pursuit of a Decepticon warship. His ship was damaged in the pursuit, forcing him to change course, crash-landing on a strange planet populated by humans: earth. No one has seen or heard from him since... until now.

Does one need a lot of knowledge of the current series since most of my knowledge of Transformers is g1, beast wars and some older japanese transformers series. Though i do have a tf character idea I've had for a long time.

No knowledge necessary. As far as I've noticed, the TF: Prime storyline is pretty much the same as the G1 storyline. The only difference is in the characters' appearances.

My rough idea was the character is from before the war. He was a space explorer, or deep space maybe. Something happened and his long range communications were damaged and the navigation computer. So he did some self repair and some other civilizations were able to maybe also. He spent this exploring space, and going from system to system.

I like it! I take it he then ended up on earth?

It could be that or during his exploring he came across earth. Maybe picking up it's radio transmissions in space, those have been going out since the 30's I'd guess. Then later on tv.

Are Pretenders out? Only OC I got is an Autobot Pretender.

I'm cool with having a Pretender. Granted we'd need to find a way to introduce said Pretender, as it's a concept that hasn't been done in the TV series before, but I totally think it could happen, especially because of the human involvement in the show.

Maybe as an experamental first one maybe, or a first group. They would fit in among humans easier and could eat human style food and get their own needed energon that way, one added benefit.

Right. Which makes it easier to remain undercover. That'd give the human allies Autobot protection in places where the Autobots generally couldn't go.

Yes, and an early warning system of troubles poping up that they may not other know about for a while. And the Autobots more knowledge of the human culture.

Not sure if I want the character to be that he was from before the war, however long that was, and was going around in space, as I mentioned above, or a more Buck Rogers thing and he was frozen or something, like I think happened to the Buck Rogers in the late 70's tv series. Either idea has good points to it.

He'd eventually would join the Autobots. Not sure if it was like the G1 where not everyone was one or the other. I recall there was a season 2 episode where the airialbots wound up in cybertron's past, before the war happened and many transformers were not of either faction. They also encountered orion pax and 2 of his friends, arial I think being the name of the other one. Forgot his other friend's name, I'd have to dig up the episode to see.

Thanks! I'll fine-tune my OC for the story, and I think I can do three more Pretenders, another Autobot (a large canine) two Decepticons, and a regular Autobot, which I want to get an existing characters and modify him to this era. I got ideas for Decepticons, but that will be a little overloading with too many characters on my part.

Association: civilian scientist, planotologist planet scientist, at the start, likely to join the Autobots.

Backstory: ? is from golden age of cybertron <or the first golden age>, before the war (or wars) during an era of exploration, discovery, ect, while most or all transformers got along, or did more or less. ? was a space scientist deep space explorer, with training in planetology (a multi discipline science that has some training in chemistry, astronomy, ecology, and other sciences, though less specific knowledge then a specialist who has training in 1 of the sciences, but broader knowledge.
He was a deep space explorer who would explore various worlds. Coming back to cybertron from time to time. & with a detailed information on his surveys. Till one day he just stopped sending back any transmissions and didn't respond and vanished. Some wondered what happened, but over time he was forgotten.
He crashed on earth and was buried, only to be found millions <or perhaps even billions> of years later . He is found by some archeologists who detected an usually large metal signature? Which agent Fowler takes over and angrily contacts the Autobots about. Maybe angry about the coverup he had to do and why they didn't bother to dig it up themselves.
The crash, maybe, was caused by an unexpected solar flare while he was in space recharging his energon levels. His skin having the ability to absorb light and generate energon, or maybe only in his starship form. Useful for deep space explorers. He is also a triple changer, a new development. His design was done by one who later became a friend of his, upgrade, who designed his triple t-cog and his special skin/paint/shell, ability to absorb and convert light into energon. Not a super fast thing but still gives him the ability to recharge, given enough time.
? smaller then modern transformers like Ratched, Optimus? More Arcee sized, since he wasn't made for war, but during a time before wars were known.
Hobbies: Likes to draw and do artwork. Also composing music and maybe doing some math. Not that he is a mathematical type, but one needs to have various things to do during the long space flights along & recharging times needed while recharging from a star.
Has some stuff in his storage area to keep himself entertained, as well as a data pad to enter data into to up/down load to cybertron on his return. An artists tool that can be used as either an electronic pen or can change the color of a small surface area. Some basic repair tools like one that can reknit together molecules <molecular mender>, in the case something breaks and you are in the field with no repair. works well enough for at least long term temporary repairs till you get get a replacement. Though a very skilled person at the use, given time, can make it almost good as new, a thing he's not that skilled at, though he can do the basic level, having basic training at the use. Basic sensors useful for his surveys and such of planets. Though those may be built in, microscopic vision, maybe telescopic, full spectrum (electromagnetic) instead of just visible light only <not always on>, ?

Thanks, it's an idea I've had since the late 90's or so. Not sure if he'd be from a time millions or billions of years ago.
Still not sure of a name. I guess some characters would be suspicious of his story even though what Ratchet may say of his findings from his analysis & checking him, would seem impossible.
Also not sure if he should be just in stasis lock or was buried in ice also, similar to Skyfire had happen to him in g1 season 1. Given how long he was there, not sure if a transformer can survive for that long in stasis lock, or maybe since he's from the golden age, or first golden age, perhaps that could be why he did. Though I do assume some like Agent Fowler, and others maybe Arcee would not believe his story, at least at first.
Though if the Matrix of Leadership works like the season 3 g1 version or in a similar way, Optimus could get information from a past prime, or just know it without having to go into it mentally to ask each past prime 1 at a time some questions he needed the answer to, not sure how it works in the transformers prime series. I've seen all of the 5 part mini series and the 1st 2 episodes of season 1 so far. Either way it works he may be can just know, or can find out information and get with some others to have casual questions or comments made eto see if they can catch the character in a lie, since someone from his supposed time would know certain things. Assuming the matrix of leadership goes back that far.
Or if the covenant book of primus thing would mention a person from a forgotten age, and or being disbelieved sort of thing.

I guess since pretenders are allowed, if someone wanted to do a beast wars type character that could fit also, though to keep a low profile certain animals would not fit. A cheetah or raptor type dinosaur would be noticed by folks, so would a rhino or gorilla if one were seen running around.

Here's a draft of my Autobot Pretenders. Let me know if they should be tweaked:
Name: Shaderazor, AKA Kenneth “Ken” Morson
Affiliation: Autobot Pretender
Pretender Humanoid Form: Caucasian, light brown hair, light green eyes (can turn glowing blue when using telescopic vision), concealed compact sub-machine gun & punching dagger in right forearm, energy field discharger in left forearm.
Autobot Form: Dark steel blue, glowing blue eyes, carbon-atom sharpened blades in forearms, elbows, knees, & foot insteps, pulse thrusters in shoulder blades & lower back ribcage
Alternate Forms: Rocket-propelled guided arrow, carbon-atom sharpened arrowhead with cavity for additional weapons: thermite bomb & EMP pulse.
Personality: Calm, cunning, soft-spoken, observant
Background: Shaderazor, and his teammate, K-9, served as scouts for the Autobots, and had left Cybertron during the war to intercept Decepticon spies across the galaxy. We would never return to Cybertron before its destruction, and instead moved further to rejoin their comrades. They would soon find Earth, and makes contact with Optimus Prime, and would become spies and bodyguards for the human allies and their families. His cover includes that of a well-known competing archer.
Name: K-9, AKA Gunwolf OR Thor
Affiliation: Autobot Pretender
Pretender Canine Form: Large Sarloos Wolfdog (large as an adult Great Dane), brown eyes (can turn glowing violet when using telescopic vision), extending metal fore claws, frequency-changing bark.
Autobot Canine Form: Polished steel, glowing violet eyes, sharpened fore claws & teeth, dual blasters from shoulders, massive crossbow along back to fire either standard explosive bolts or Shaderazor in his alternate arrow form.
Alternate Forms: Anthropomorphic canine w/ organic fur under metal armor plates, digigrade legs, automatic crossbow, double Chinese-style sabers
Personality: Noble, fierce, may have developed slight mental characteristics of a typical dog, very loyal
Background: Same as Shaderazor’s, however using cover as a companion animal, alternating observing posts between Shaderazor and the humans.

Right now, I got room for an fc, but I can wait to see which ones you guys pick out. I have ideas for a pair of Decepticon Pretenders, plus pick out a regular Autobot from G1 to use in Prime, like Powerglide.

Powerglide, that could be interesting. Would he be smaller, like I recall his being a minibot in g1. So maybe the tf:prime Arcee size or smaller?
I may pick one of the human kid characters, or make an original one since there are some types of rp that the kids can do that the bots can't, and vice versa. If I did an oc kid character I'd do one closer to Raf's age since it would look odd at school, and other places, a kid hanging out with teens, and 2 teens hanging out with someone so much younger.
Plus I think a kid at school may start noticing things. If you look at the right time and are at the right angle, assuming bumblebee and bulkhead keep their windows dark, and it looks like they don't, you can see as Miko or Raf gets in that there is no driver, if you time it right you could take a picture, and start gathering other evidence. Who is that woman who drives Jack's motorcycle, not jack's mother. her helmet looks totally different then jack's. Why has he not seen her walking away or towards the motorcycle. & other things.

I'm not entirely sure about Powerglide's size in G1, but I had thought of having his alternate form as either a U2 spy plane or a Global Hawk UAV (which are both large planes) with special wings that could fold to a third of its length for maneuverability, and a pair of pylons for additional surveillance or remote-controlled smaller UAVs.

The g1 version is roughly around twice as tall as a human, in his robot form. From what I recall his vehicular form is larger then his robot form, since humans can easily ride inside him. He is the main character in the episode called: The Girl Who Loved Powerglide, though he does appear in other episodes also. Also he has a mouthguard like Optimus and Wheejack have in g1. Not sure if you want to have that or not, just thought I'd mention it.
Though the sizes don't carry over from g1 into Tf:prime. Arcee is in g1 a normal size autobot, but in prime she's the smallest one. & the G1 Bumblebee is a mini-bot, not a lot larger then humans like Spike, but in TF: Prime he's larger then his G1 version. So you can likely have your Powerglide be whatever size you want him to be, if the gm approves.

I can add the others later, when I can fine-tune them. As for FCs, I can start off with either Arcee or one of the humans, if they haven't been picked already.

OK, I've decided to establish Powerglide as a U2 spy plane. And for FCs, I choose Raf and Soundwave.
About M.E.C.H., I read that the leader Silus was nearly killed and had his mind transferred into the body of Breakdown, and then killed all of the M.E.C.H. members in the area, before being captured by the Decepticons. If we want to continue M.E.C.H., we'd probably have to do a splinter group with new characters.

We'd be happy to see you come on board! Just post a bio on any OCs and claim whatever FCs you want. I'll be claiming all the FCs that are left over once everyone's chosen.
And as far as M.E.C.H. goes, I agree that if we bring them in, they should be a splinter faction. The question is whether or not they'd try working with the Decepticons again.

I wonder if there are any fc's other folks want or are thinking about. There are enough for most of here to take a few, say 1 autobot or con or human, or 1 each from 1 or 2 factions.

Okay, finally got my first OC done!!
Name: Speedbreaker
Affiliation: Autobot "Neo-Wreckagers"
Alt-Form: Jet-Black Can-Am Spyder RS
Autobot form: Normally rolls around on one wheel, similar to Arcee from the movie series, though can also either split said wheel into spindly, thin legs, or conver to a three-wheeled mode for increased stability. Ninja-esque face guard, with a single bright crimson optic on the right side. Left optic covered by a sheet of black metal. Overall skeletal appearance.
Personality: Flippant, blase, and seemingly laid-back, Speedbreaker is actually a very cunning fighter and tactician. Willing to use underhanded tactics if it means life or death, he specializes in close, urban combat and ambush tactics.
Weapons of choice: 6 Energon swords stored at his hip level-Usually uses only one at a time, but can clench all 6 between his fingers and use them as lethal claws. Also mounts a small rocket launcher in his left shoulder, as well as an energon arrow launcher in his left wrist-Folds out into a longbow-style weapon
Backstory: UNKNOWN
