As I write these two are playing their 95th game of the fifth set. Incredible stuff; anyone else watching them?
EDIT: 100th...
EDIT2: 59 - 59 games in the final set, and the match has just been suspended due to bad light. Going into a third day tomorrow.

Land Before Time TV Series (2007) / Ruby's Age
« on: February 20, 2010, 08:17:49 PM »
No idea if this has been discussed at all before, so I thought I'd throw it out there. I recall one episode about Ruby as a hatchling, but I don't think it really enlightened us as to Ruby's actual age (thought that might be poor memory, which would make this topic completely pointless).
I'm personally torn trying to decide if Ruby is slightly older, or if what seems to me to be a bit of a "big sister" attitude is simply part of her nature regardless of relative ages (which might not have the same meanings seeing as the different species will have different lifespans).
What do others think? Is Ruby older, younger, or the same age as Littlefoot and co.?

LBT Projects / The Land Before Time Wiki
« on: July 28, 2009, 07:09:29 PM »
This is a post written simply to test the water, so to speak. At the moment I'm considering seriously encouraging more non-canonical content on the LBT wiki. This is for two reasons:

1. Growth
I feel that a good wiki should always be aiming to grow, and as Universal aren't planning on coughing up more canonical material just yet, non-canon is the only way forward at present. In any case, I believe that as long as it is clear to readers that what they're reading is non-canon, it will be a great addition to the wiki if it truly takes off. Although canon is important, the surrounding LBT community is important too, and it is still LBT-related.

2. Member Numbers
This is one of those things one shouldn't perhaps admit, but I would be hoping that members here editing their own fan-work over at the wiki would get a taste for it, and start editing the wiki as a whole. There's been a real slump in editors of late, and it would be gratifying to change that if possible.

A start has already been made with the introduction of the Own Character section, which has had a few entries to date, but I would really like to expand non-canon as a whole more dramatically if possible. But before this all gets going, I'd like to know what everyone here, the place which most editors in this departament would come from, thought about the idea. There is a bit of work to be done before a lot of this can really get moving, and I don't wish to waste time doing it all if it turns out that noone would be interested, which would, after all, be fair enough.

Things that immediately come to mind are fanfictions, roleplays and the like, although things like the game currently being worked on here (unless it's been finished during my abscence!) would certianly warrant a page in my opinion. In any case, all I want here are opinons, ideas and a general indication of the level of enthusiasm.

P.S Good to be back!

Computer and Electronics / Vista Vista Vista
« on: August 31, 2008, 05:12:57 AM »
Recently Vista has deactivated itself on me, and the key on my laptop's casing isn't recognised as valid. I've backed everything I need to up by deliberatly bombing it out and then booting up in Safe Mode so no worries there. I've tried http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en but that refuses to do anything and I'm at a bit of a loss. Any help would be...well...helpful. Otherwise I'll take it down to the local computer shop and get them to have a look at it.

Thanks in advance.

Computer and Electronics / Internet Connection
« on: June 15, 2008, 04:11:14 PM »
I'm going on holiday to France over the Summer holidays, and I was wondering about getting an internet connection over there. At the moment we have a household network, which I can tap into with my laptop's built-in wireless. So I'm just asking for a quick low-down of the different ways I could get onto the internet for those two weeks, without having to hand over large sums of cash. I'm not that desperate, I'm just considering the possibility here.

Computer and Electronics / A Small Problem
« on: April 10, 2008, 04:41:51 PM »
Just now, my Windows Live messenger decided I could benifit from having a toolbar, and now I cannot get rid of it. Here's a couple of pictures:

and also in conversations:

It's only a minor thing, but it's still annoying me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Computer and Electronics / Really Handy Thing I've Found
« on: April 06, 2008, 11:39:24 AM »
I spotted this recently and thought it might be useful to people making  music videos with stills, or just generally. The site it's on do a different program every day, usually anywhere in the region of $20-$50, but on one day only it's free. If you want a DVD image capurer worth $40, then for today only it's free there. I've downloaded a couple of things off this siter before, and never had any trouble at all.

Starday Wishes / Happy Birthday Saftycera & Vilstrup!
« on: April 01, 2008, 02:22:42 AM »
I'd just like to wish you both a very happy birthday. Although we haven't seen Saftycera for a while....

Enjoy it! You're eighteen now, right Vilstrup? That's a major birthday.

Computer and Electronics / What is the best way...
« on: March 30, 2008, 01:22:28 PM »
This is really for the "Foreign Songs" topic. I have a program called "DVD Decrypter" which I have tried on one DVD, but it only came out as Japanese, which was the default language. I need something which I can use to get the songs from any language off my LBT DVDs. It doesn't have to be a proper ripper either, just something to record the audio. I'm asking here to a. save time and b. ensure the best possible qualtiy is obtained.

Thanks in advance.

Character Discussion / Petrie's Mother
« on: March 28, 2008, 06:46:40 PM »
I'm busy editing various sections on Wikipedia concerning The Land Before Time, and when looking at Petrie's mother, I came a cross the phrase:

Quote
known as Mama Flyer by fans

I just wanted to double-check on this with you lot, as I have never heard the phrase.

Also: Discuss the character, Petrie's mother, here.

I've recently got into this wonderful comedy TV series, after discovering that someone has uploaded them to Youtube. I'm just wondering if anyone else here is a fan.

The Party Room / Members
« on: March 14, 2008, 06:23:53 PM »
I just noticed how we're only just shy of two hundered members, and was wondering how many of them are actually active, or even have been active at all. Is there some way of working it out without manually trawling through the lists?

EDIT: Just realised this is in the Party Room, I could've sworn I was in the Fridge. I don't suppose someone could quickly move this topic?

General Land Before Time / Grammar Usage
« on: March 11, 2008, 04:37:43 PM »
I was thinking the other day about the way characters talk in LBT. At the same time I remembered how "The Teletubbies" got some bad press a while back about ruining how young children speak, and I wondered if the same thing could apply to LBT. To those of you whose English isn't particularly good, do you find that your grammar is messed up by the way LBT characters talk?

The Written Word / Chapter One of something i'm writing
« on: March 05, 2008, 02:24:33 PM »
Okay, I'm posting this after having a conversation with Mumbling about chapter length. It's unedited, and seroiusly needs editing, so don't be surprised at truly awful sections which may or may not appear. I will cut them at some point. Enjoy!

EDIT: I removed this after a late-night bout of paranoia about posting what I am also using for a piece of coursework which hadn't even been sent to the exam board. Sorry.

LBT Projects / LBT application to the D20 system
« on: March 04, 2008, 01:45:28 PM »
This is just an idea I had, not sure how it will pan out. Before I start asking if anyone's interested I thought I'd first check how much people know about the d20 system (I have a feeling that only one or two people will have even heard of it...).

LBT Fanfiction / Fanfiction Sizes
« on: March 04, 2008, 12:35:21 PM »
Just as a matter of interest, what sizes do people aim for when writing fanfics? Do you aim for a word count? Number of pages? How long is the "average" fanfic?

The Welcome Center / Hello there Comrades!
« on: March 02, 2008, 07:54:21 AM »
I recently re-discovered The Land Before Time at the grand old age of fifteeen, where I dragged out an old taped version of the first film and watched it. Quality wasn't great but it was still good viewing and a trip down memory lane.

I also have vivid memories of Chomper eating dragonflies, so I must have seen number two at some point, but can't find it anywhere in the house.

I probably won't be as active as I'd like to be as I have to split my time between here, coursework, a novel I'm writing, piano practice, school and the Hard-Light forums but I'd like to think I can chat with some people here.
