This will eventually be a sticky, but I want to know how people are finding the Gang of Five. What (or who) led you here?
This is actually one question I don't have to answer.
-
First I came across Network 54 with help of Littlefoot1616 where I met him on Fanfiction.net and now we great friends in real life. :) I came to know of this form from Malte when talking to him and then soon after join this form. It is the first one I ever joined and the only one I seem to speak alot in. Overall I really glad that my spark of Land Before Time returned after so many years or I wouldn't have met all you great people on this form.
-
Good ol' Novaflare. Was on the IMDB boards, saw a post of his saying that there was a fan forum, and to PM him if I wanted in. Don't believe I need to say any more.
By the way, Nova, if you're reading this, thank you so very, very much for bringing this place to my attention.
-
I think I did a google research for "Land Before Time roleplays" and here I am.
-
Novaflare referred me. I owe them a lot!
-
I'm here thanks to DarkHououmon! I met her in a LBT forum in Fanfiction.net (it was my fanfic-publishing season LOL) then she posted something, I don't recall exactly, but she posted something about this site. Oh yeah, she posted if someone wanted to join this site, I agreed and clicked the URL, and here I am. Thank you very much DarkHououmon! :^.^:
-
I found this site many moons ago while searching for Land Before Time sheet music, as a matter of fact. I was on various LBT galleries and semi-dead fansites, all through Google searches, until I eventually found a link to the Gang of Five on Christian's LBT Gallery.
-
I own Threehorn a thank you for showing this site to me....^_^
-
um... that'd be Tim's doing :p
-
I found it while searching for LBT fanfiction. I watched the site for a couple of weeks and then joined. THis was actually the first website I ever became a member of. The next was fanfiction.net when I decided to go into the story writing business.
-
I found the link in Threehorn's DA page.
-
I found the previous board when I was googling for LBT X and then just decided to stick around, 'till this current board was created :D
-
I look around.
I was unsure about joining at first, but I'm glad I did. :)
-
After deciding I wanted to visit an LBT fan site, I searched Google over for one. After having no such luck, I finally came across http://www.freewebs.com/landbeforetime (http://www.freewebs.com/landbeforetime). It isn't in English, but I noticed a link to an English board. I clicked it, and now, I'm here. :DD
-
I personally thank Malte for unintentionally getting me here. I was reading his story on fanfiction.net, The Big Quarell, (Nice little story that all happened because Cera hadn't taken back what she said about Littlefoot's mother back in the first movie. :D) and decided to click upon his profile. As a result, I ran into a link for this place. I then checked it out and decided to become a member after some crutial thinking. :)
After all that's happened here, I'm more than happy to be here. :^.^:
-
Someone told me there was another LBT forem, so I asked where I could find in on the network54 forum and Malte (I think) supplied the url.
-

So my getting an identity at fanfiction.net was not so pointless after all :lol
-
Bit of a chain reaction led me to the first GOF forum (the one before this). I think I initially got in touch with our recently relocated member Littlefoot (see after midnight section :^.^: ). Through the MSN chat service, I took a chance and mailed him and to my amazement, he mailed back! From there, I think he directed me to the network54.com LBT forum and that's were I met up with the likes of Malte. Having quickly established some e-friends with a passion for cutesy dinos going on adventures and miraculously escaping alive everytime, I believe it was Malte who then ushered me to our predecesor site and from there, the rest is history!
Since then, I've made some wickid new friends and found that I wasn't the only one who shared a childhood passion that, somehow, never quite got thrown out with all the old toys I was a little too big to play with anymore! :lol ;) From this, I started sketching fanart and even wrote my own LBT-esque fanfic :) Definitely glad I found this site, otherwise, I guess I'd still be roaming around thinking I'm the only one in the world my age with an interest for a child's cartoon! :DD
-
for me, it all started when i looked up lbt on wikipedia, which had a link to fanfiction.net. After reading a couple of fanfics i started to look at the forums there and noticed that someone mentioned the Gang of Five. I tried googling "the gang of five" but that didn't seem to work. I finally found it when i typed "the gang of five lbt message board", but even then it was on the 2nd or 3rd page.
-
Darn google. <_< I've been trying to get google to rank this better but three years, no bones. :(
-
Darn google. I've been trying to get google to rank this better but three years, no bones.
lol i just looked at google and apparently "Robert Redford message board" and "The Catholic message board" are ranked better, for reasons why, i have no idea :lol .
-
I found it in my random page clickings while in Wikipedia. Apparently, one of them linked to Action9000's music website, and I found these forum's from that site.
On the subject of Wikipedia... http://xkcd.com/214/ (http://xkcd.com/214/)
-
Unknown Person, I was flipping through comics on the page you linked us and I found this
http://xkcd.com/233/ (http://xkcd.com/233/)
I thought it was amusing to find an LBT reference in there :p

Haha, yeah, I laughed at that one. I love xkcd for putting in programming/technology jokes with popular culture. :p

Gotta thank Pokeplayer for that. I found this site through he YouTube videos.
-
Gotta thank Pokeplayer for that. I found this site through he YouTube videos.
Same thing here. i was watching one of her videos and was connected to here, I would not have joined except that it reminded me of a Land Before Time Balto Source

For the record, I'm male.
And I'm glad to see my little idea of getting people more interested in joining is working. :)
-
For the record, I'm male.
Well THAT's embarassing.
-
I checked your videos to see how you did it. :p It wasn't subliminal advertising or anything.
-
For the record, I'm male.
Well THAT's embarassing.
I've done that on a few occasions, only it was the other way around. :D The outcome was far more embarrassing. :slap
-
I need to thank pokeplayer, Threehorn, and Lain_EX for helping me find this site on YouTube. By the way, all people here who have a YouTube account, go to My LBT Group on YouTube. (http://www.youtube.com/group/LBTFANS)
-
And I'm glad to see my little idea of getting people more interested in joining is working. :)
I'm trying the same thing. I am trying to get REMKFAN01, mahmood, HolySonic, and kongnal to join.
-
It looks like we have pokeplayer984 to thank for many many members here.
-
And I'm glad to see my little idea of getting people more interested in joining is working. :)
I'm trying the same thing. I am trying to get REMKFAN01, mahmood, HolySonic, and kongnal to join.
Woah, there! We don't want to force people to come! We want genuine LBT fans who want to join this site after hearing about it, not force it down their throats (not that I think that's what you're doing).
-
You tried using blackmail or bribes to get them here?
-
Naw, I don't think he'd do that. :P:
-
pokeplayer986... You ROCK!!!! I found one of your youtube videos, and it just sort of led to me joining the gang. Thanks!
-
I'm trying to get them to visit this site. I'm not going to force them to join.
-
I'm trying to get them to visit this site. I'm not going to force them to join.
Oh, I know that. :P: Are you telling them just where to visit the site (like what the URL is), or are you actually urging them to visit, because they just don't want to? It sounds to me like their hearts are set into this.
-
I'm not sure where they are on this. I personally want better notifications on their vids.
-
And I'm glad to see my little idea of getting people more interested in joining is working. :)
I'm trying the same thing. I am trying to get REMKFAN01, mahmood, HolySonic, and kongnal to join.
Actually, I think HolySonic joined here under the name "NeoGenesis005." Look here (http://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=2177) for details. ;)
-
Would that count as sneaking on? :DD
-
I first strted at the N54 boards where i met Malte. i stated on there for a few months then Petrie showed he a forum he had started the Welcome tio the Great Valleyforum. I joined and after a while he handed over ownership. It was basically silent, and there were only a handful of posters on there at a time. in gfact there were only 2 major posters besides myself and malte threehorn and Kenji , both of whioch moved here once this board was created. I resisted for a few weeks, but once it became clear the forum was dead I joined the GOF. that was 3 years ago as of Nov 26. Hard to believe its been that long..
-
a little bird told me about it :lol
actually, it was through LBTLover's website
-
Mine was a bit weird, as recounted elsewhere.
-
i went to youtube rubiksmaster1992 let me here rubiksmaster1992 said there was forum he lead me here -_-
-
First I searched in google for any german landbeforetime forums. And well, I found one but there is not very much activitie in this one. At the top of the page there was a buttom with the gang of five forum. That let me here
-
So the German LBT forum served a purpose after all :P:
-
For a positive case at least. :)
-
yes, but also the english forum. There is also a buttom for the german forum in the gang of five forum. One can see it in both ways. :)
-
Okay, long story here. I regained my fondness of LBT about a year ago. At the time, wikipedia was the only place that I knew of that had info on the LBT movies I had not seen. I eventually found a link to fanfiction.net and enjoyed the LBT fanfiction there for a few months. I then found a link to this place, and didn't become a frequent visitor until late September. With all the work from school I had, I barely had enough time visit each day. So I wasn't able to join until just recently, and I hope to still visit as often.
-
We'll be glad to have you visit whenever you have time.
-
I was watching Youtube videos of songs from LBT. pokeplayer984, the user who uploaded them, included a link to this forum. So, I joined.
-
That does seem to be the most common method folks find out about this forum.
-
I wandered in here while looking for LBT fanfiction.
-
Looks like you liked it well enough here to stay. :^.^:
-
Looks like you liked it well enough here to stay. :^.^:
Yep, yep, yep!!! :lol
Actually I also came here for help on my fanfic (Land Before Time: Twilight Valley).
-
I was directed here by Landbeforetimelover. I added him on msn after watching a couple of LBT series.. And I came there by youtube.. complicated... but anyway thanks to him im here:)
-
It seems most folks have come here by youtube.
-
Youtube has certainly become our most successful "recruiting center"
Thanks to all of the LBT music video artists who showed the way to the GOF to so many of our current members :)
-
Yes, likely the membership would not be anywhere the size it is without them.
-
That's how I found my way here, Youtube. Pokeplayer984's vid, it was.
-
I wonder if Pokeplayer984 has been thanked for the work in bringing many members here.
-
One of the first things I did was send him a message saying thanks. He never responded.
-
I also found this site from the link in Pokeplayer's video descriptions on youtube. i watched all of them then finaly decided to click the link that said GOF (at that time i had no clue what it meant) and i was happy that i ended up clicking on it. :)
-
And we are glad to have you here. :yes
-
He doens't come on very often, so likely he hasn't seen the message.
-
Actually, I visit YouTube quite regularly, I just don't check my account as much. Not to mention that I come here quite a bit, but don't find much that I really want to talk about. Which is why I don't post much.
Anyways, I'm glad to see that what I planned to help get this place better known is working quite well. I'll be extending this by putting the link in my sig at various forums I am a member at. Especially with the fact that I'm finally going to get around to posting my fanfic at another site. I just hope its recieved well enough. After all, mods there destroy mediocre-writen fics. Either its good, or its not going to be there long. :)
Anyways, to all those who have thanked me for getting them here, I just have to say, you're welcome. :^.^:
-
A long time ago I had found a forum for the first LBT movie (I think it was IMDB) where I made a topic about how I really liked the movies. I somehow forgot about it, and then after a long time after that I suddenly remembered it and wanted to see if I could find the forum again to check the replies. I never did find my post, but instead found the GoF.
-
I came across it when I went to someone's youtube profile and saw the link to here.
The profile had some Pebble and the Penguin vids and I like to look at other's faves so I went to the profile.
Hardly any faves, but I found the link to here so, no big loss. :lol
-
Was it Pokeplayer? That is one youtube poster that has a link to here. Though there are likely others too.
-
i found gof as a link in a sig of a da member i know and talk with at times
-
Glad to have you here too.
-

Ya know, I think it was them.
They do need some thanks for getting new members on here.
-

I'm the one with the PATP videos. :P: I don't post the link right in the video; you have to actually look at my profile for the link.
One for me, and like four dozen for poke.
-
Started a LBT Discussion Thread at other places. I've provided the link to this place within said thread.
With any luck, we'll get even more popular. :^.^:
-
It'll be nice if it does happen.
-
Well, with the notice I got from YouTube, I had to remove my vids. :(
At least I was able to save one, seeing as it is fanmade. However, this means we won't get members as quickly anymore.
It was SUCH a good plan and it worked SO well. However, no matter where you go, if there are rules, you MUST follow them or suffer the concequences.
At least the links at other places will hopefully be helpful.
Well, see ya later! :^.^:
-
It was good while it lasted.
-
I too arrived here by the grace of Pokeplayer's Youtube videos. Such a shame about them being taken down.
-
I got here by accident, or something like that. I was looking for an LBT forum to share my opinions and meet new nice people, I pressed some random link and voila'. Here I am.
When I found it, I thought I was gonna faint. I NEVER thought that a forum like this acctually existed!
But, this board could REALLY need some more search points on Google...
/Lillefot
-
We're working on it.
-
Be a part of the solution! (http://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=2958.20)
-
Malte told me about this forum and since I love LBT I decided to join. :D
-
Hmm... How I came to this forum is rather a mystery... I was looking for fanart, or fanfiction; found some "dead" sites, and a FEW - and I mean few - pieces, and I was feeling pretty sad about it... ...Some time passed, and... I think I stumbled onto the old forum somewhere, but never registered there. (Obviously.) ...I don't remember how I came across this though... But it's an absolute MIRACLE that I did...! I've seen several LBT fanvideos though; in fact, looking for new ones was all I did for the longest time... (I didn't remember signing up here, when I did. I guess I registered at around 5 AM after staying up all night, feeling all nostalgic over LBT... One of those heavy-hearted nights. Then I went to bed, and forgot about it for, oh, a month and a half...! (...That's right, I was missing my best friend... Feeling pretty sad that we can no longer spend as much time together...)
-
Random internet search! :)
-
Well, it seems the ranking efforts haven't all been in vain. Please, do you remember what you typed in to make this website show up?
-
...Who, me? I don't use Google, I use Yahoo... Nope, sorry... I can't remember, and even if I could, it still wouldn't help in the Google case...
-
Google and yahoo share links (or swap them, I'm not sure which). They have very similar ranking results so if we get a good ranking on google, we'd have a good ranking on most major search engines.
-
Hmm... Well, a lot of good that does me, now... It might have not even been directly from Yahoo; I just don't remember. Maybe it was a link from another "dead" forum or something... Yeah, I was just searching for LBT fanart, and well, the rest is history, really...
-
Yeah, it kinda seems that the ultimate google search term for this forum is:
"LBT fanfic" fan LBT" "LBT fanart" etc. Try it, I promise something will show up. ;)
/Lillefot
-
That's most likely because we are one of the most popular websites that use the term "LBT". That's not exactly helpful when it comes to others searching for a place to chat about LBT. -_-
-
Exactly. If they don't know about it, how are they gonna come here and chat about LBT?
-
I know that mateys, please!
Well, sorry that I exist! <_<
-
It's not like LBT is a universal abbreviation of the land before time. I mean, you'd think it would be, but some people, especially those who aren't too good at English yet probably wouldn't think of that. We need to show up when someone types in land before time not LBT.
-
Yeah, that's true... I most likely typed it in right, because I never abbreviate things when I search. I just find it to be too... Unpredictable.
EDIT: Ah, Lillefot, I certainly didn't mean anything cruel by that... And I'm sure landbeforetimelover didn't either...
-
Land Before time forum>landbeforetime.wikia>The Gang of five
This is the closest I get using these words (And I assume that's what you type if you're looking for an Land Before Time forum).
For those not good in english, well that's another nut to break.
No mind that brothers, no worries. :^.^:
/Lillefot
-
Ah... Interesting find.
Good, good. All a minor misunderstanding then...
-
Ah... Interesting find.
Good, good. All a minor misunderstanding then...
Well, it's the fourth from the top...
Happens all the time mate, don't worry. -_- .............
-
Well, I'm glad there's a slight chance of us being found more easily, anyway... Might explain a part of how I came to find this place. I really can't remember... Just too much stuff has happened since then.
-
Got here one month ago, I remeber scavenging trough the web in search for something just like this forum. Stumbled across some kinda old, rather booring looking thing, with a link to here. 1-0 to me World wide Web!
Now, GoF is added to my favorites, so i won't lost it =D
Very gald to be here, I know I'll be for a long time. :^.^:
/Lillefot
-
I found the GoF by luck: I was searching for some information on some of the LBT characters, and came across the LBT Wiki. Saw the link, checked it out, and observed for about a week before signing up.
-
about a year or 2 ago, my LBT time obsession was beginning and i was seaching on google for any LBT websites and forums i could find and happened to come across this one :).
it was around the time i heard about LBT 12 that sparked my revival of interest in the series
-
You've been spying on us for some time. :p
-
It certainly looks that way doesn't it? :p
-
Well, looked over this site two years ago, but I really didn't want to join it then. When I did join Tropicalia's forum, I saw the link for this and I took a step up and joined.
Edit: Oops...I meant two years ago... :P:
-
Three years ago we were still getting on our feet at invision...maybe it didn't look active enough then.
-
Three years ago we were still getting on our feet at invision...maybe it didn't look active enough then.
Nah, it didn't have anything to do with that, I just didn't join for my own personal reasons...:p that's all...
-
i gonna thank an old member, although he never posted something, i give you a hint: it was the first dutch guy on this forum, no? alright here is another one: he(or she) got his own website about LBT, not yet?'sigh' OK i'll say it: the member platvoet en zijn vriendjes(geez, what an annoying name!)
-
Kjeldo.. He did post something, really :^.^:
He even came back when his birthday was celebrated, just for a day though..
And yes, it's an annoying name indeed :p..
-
Okie..So here I was surfing Youtube and adding friends.. And then a user named Underpater came and asked me to add him to his msn..
So I did.. and from that he gave me the link..
Now the first day I was pretty shy.. But I now know that in this forum we're like family!!
And thanks to all those who welcomed me and were so nice to me! I can't wait to get to know you all!!
*Huggies*
-
i'm here because of mumbling :D
see invited me here :DD
-
I found this site on Austins site: www.landbeforetime.co.nr
-
Found it after scrooling through a few forums. Don't ask which.
-
Why not? It would be interesting to know where there are links to the GOF.
-
I can only think of two that link to us, specifically since I gave them the image and code to do so. The LBT wiki links to us too as does Austin's site.
-
Still others may have just picked up the url and posted it somewhere without telling anyone (I did leave links at some places which deemed me potential places to find new members for example).
-
Mine's kind of strange. I am a regular reader on Fanfiction.net. Anyhoo, I was looking under one of the forums when I saw a comment made by dalandb4time (Lain_EX?) that included the statement: "See ya at da Gang of Five!" I searched "Gang of Five" under Yahoo, and found a bunch of links to mafia-related gangs . Then, a light bulb flashed in my head, and I searches "Land Before Time Forum" and, long behold, found this forum :D. I was a regular guest for a few months. I was hesitant in joining 'cuz I've always been something of a misfit and was afraid of rejection. I finally got the nerve to join on February 19, 2008. I have come to realize folks here are very nice, and that we share more than just an LBT interest in common. I am very glad I registered, for I would not have friends like y'all had I been a chicken :p.
-
Well I was looking for a torrent file which contained any and all of the LBT movies after my parents sent mine to my little cousin in Florida, which I eventually found, and then I saw on Youtube episodes of the LBT TV series. I believe Threehorn friended me and I didn't realize it was him until recently. Anyway, I then decided to look for a LBT forum, and I think I found LBTLover's website. Afterwards, I was persuaded to join some random LBT group on Youtube, and I think that's where I found the link to this site.
-
My discovery wasn't anything fancy. I really liked forums having been involved with them before, but they just didn't click as much as I'd hoped. Several months later, I decided to look for a Land Before Time forum, not knowing if any even existed. After searching awhile, I found the Gang of Five, but it was a long time later that I actually joined. Upon my first visit, I looked over some topics and decided that this probably would not be a very good forum for me to join. You see, so many of the posts were just too professional. Very difficult questions would come up, and so many people gave such well written, philosophical answers that completely covered the topic, so I felt, and still do sometimes, unworthy to contribute here. After so long, I figured, maybe I can't give amazing responses to posts like most of the others can, but maybe I could still try to be interesting with them at least. I figured some forums could use an amatuer in what they represent for normal answers, or something. Also, my hesitance was also due to the fact that I was aware that I would annoy lots of people here with my very long posts. I'm sorry about that. I have been that way my whole life. In high school, some teachers would even deduct points from my answers for being too long, in the same way they do that for answers that are too short. While I can never give an answer of the quality of someone like Malte279 for example, I thought I would add whatever I could, and since the people here seemed very friendly from the outside, I hoped that they'd accept my answers, regardless that I don't know The Land Before Time here as well as the scholars which make up a lot of people here. This place was easy enough to find, but difficult for people like me to feel they can add anything good that someone here can't or hasn't already. Ands that's my story.
-
^^^Oh come on. Your responses have an adequate amount of thought put into them and that's all we expect. You fit in very well here. Don't let anyone make you think otherwise. There may be a select few here who can write very well thought out and lengthy responses, but that doesn't mean that being "scholarly" is a standard requirement for being here here.^^^
-
I second that. When I said earlier that I was impressed with your posts I meant it The Friendly Sharptooth. You have shown yourself to write very thought through messages (and gosh, I love to read through that kind of messages) and also show a respectful attitude towards other participants in a discussion. I am a bit surprised that you of all people would feel "unworthy to contribute" here. There is not such a thing as "unworthy for the GOF" excepting spammers or people who just want to offend others (mercifully both are rarely showing up in the GOF).
It is very good to be self-critical to the degree where it enables somebody to accept constructive criticism and reexamine the own position to maybe discover mistakes and chances for improvement, but it may be harmful when a degree of self-consciousness is reached that makes somebody underestimate the own abilities and depreciate the own accomplishments.
-
I found a few forums before this one, but they were all pretty much dead. Last posts being made in 2006. o.o"
The link here I found it by visiting those forums and also by youtube. before I fixed the link, I used youtube to reach the GOF.
Also, The Friendly Sharptooth is one of the best and most explicit person I've seen. He knows how to explain it, while making sense and telling you what you want. Not many people can do that, write "bibles" per say and make sense. Not to be disrespectful to anyone, that is.
-
I don't write lengthy posts. Doesn't it take all sorts to make a forum? :p
-
Of course it does. Short and lenghty. But I meant that TFS (sorry, the name's long) writes them lenghty and comprehensible.
Or was that post not for me?
-
There is nothing wrong with lengthly posts, The Friendly Sharptooth. In fact, I tend to be more drawn to longer posts (not saying that I ignore anything else). I can't believe your instructors would cut back on your points 'cuz your answers were lengthly. Although I find it awfully difficult to believe, I've had many praises on my writing and have been asked a countless number of times if I ever intend to publish anything. My essay answers have always tended to be so long the instructors, with my permission, made copies of them to use for sample purposes in future classes. The hardest thing I ever had to learn is how to not let my Southern dialect end up in a formal paper :rolleyes. Anyhoo, I'll get to the point here :oops. I'm shocked to hear that about your scores. Even if it's not okay with them, your long replies are welcome here :yes. Don't ever feel uninvited at the GOF. We're a great bunch to be around, and you're a wonderful addition to the GOF :yes. Take care, and post lots!
-
Some folks have a style that makes lengthy posts natural for them and others shorter. Both can be natural. Though some dislike long or short posts.
-
hi peoples, i found out about GOF from youtube!!!
I'm so happy!
YAY!!! :DD
-
& we are happy you found out about us. :smile
-
DarkHououmon and I chat about this site and Boom!...here I am
-
Happy you are here?
-
found it through the lbt funsite, finding it a second time took 15 min and a dozen google searches
-
I hope you've bookmarked it. If not you can find it on the lbt wiki front page I think. Or you could when I use to go there.
-
Happy you are here?
Yeah its awesome.
-
I found it through Land before time wikipedia via google.
Google is a wonderful program sometimes...
-
Happy you are here?
Yeah its awesome.
Great to hear. I hope you continue to enjoy yourself here. & Everyone else too. :yes :smile
-
i'm glad i joined this site because it means i'm not the only one who likes LBT that isn't a kid!!!! yay!!!!
-
I found it through Welcome To Jurassic Park.
-
Yeah the best way to keep this site from being lost is bookmarking it or putting it under your favorites. I did favorites so I will never not know where this site is.
-
i'm glad i joined this site because it means i'm not the only one who likes LBT that isn't a kid!!!! yay!!!!
Ditto man, Ditto
-
I found this place through a link on a YouTube video. Actually, that's also how I rediscovered it after my year of inactivity ;)
-
Just browsing through the sections here and I thought I should clear something up. I only said that Novaflare referred me. I'm going to give more information about that.
First off, after I started getting back into LBT I wanted to watch video previews about the different movies before I went out and downloaded them (this was when I was first getting into LBT again and I didn't own the movies anymore. On top of that, I had only seen 1-6 as a kid since I got out of it before number 7 came out).
Anyways, I went to this place called IMDb to watch some previews. On one of the discussion threads, there was someone by the name of Novaflare who claimed there was a community of people who liked LBT, but they refused to give out the URL on a public place like IMDb. So I found Novaflare's email address and emailed her begging her to give the the URL. She did and I lurked around here for perhaps a day before I decided to join. After I joined, I spent a few days before making a welcoming topic. This was my first forum after all, and I had no idea what to do. But I made it around here pretty easily. I had a rough first year here but after that everything started getting better. :yes
-
A tough first year is practically an understatement. ;) I'm glad we worked things out...imagine what we would have missed.
-
I joined after seeing the link at the bottom of razzies site after seeing razzies site at the bottom of W2JP as i was reading up on some past posts!
-
I found it in the Land Before Time Wikipedia site :)
-
I found this place here by accident. I was looking up the LBT on google I came across a diffrent forum and I accidently clicked on a link and I was here. I was around for six months before I joined.
-
I found a link on Youtube.
-
has anybody found a link to this site from any of my youtube vids? my user is Metadude1234, like it is on here
-
I was googling up things about the land before time and then saw the link on LBT wiki site.
-
The LBT wiki is the most common way to find us these days.
-
I was browsing around for some LBT stuff, came across the LBT wiki pages a few times, then this forum. I thought I would join this forum sooner or later... and I did. :p
-
I found GOF from the LBT wiki on their forum page this is the forum they recommended to go on.
-
I found this place through the link on LBT wiki. But I didn't start posting until I got in trouble for posting an unauthorized sequel to Twilight Valley, which has been removed for a while.
-
I found this site through Google.
-
I found this site through google as well. searching "Land Before Time forum" thinking that i was the only one with LBT as there guilty pleasure.
-
On youtube. I was looking for LBT song video and i found a video called LBT RPG. In the description there was a link to a site for download the game, and on this site there was a link to this forum.
-
I found the GOF through the Land Before Time wiki. I visited these forums anonymously for a few days before eventually deciding to join.
-
google keyword: Land before time. :)
-
Jedi472 told me about it in a FF.net PM, I went to this site and wasn't originally planning on joining but something about this forum and its members made me do so.
-
I found GOF on some guy's profile on fanfiction.net. I was interested and wanted to see what it was so I searched it and whoop! There it was! So, I finally built up the courage to make myself a member now here I am, posting and replying. And as of now, I don't regret my decision.:D
-
I was led here to the GOF because i'm looking for Land Before Time pictures in google images, and i saw one of Sky's artworks, i followed the site where it was originally, and led me here.
At first i thought it was dead, but when i saw recent posts, I came up with the idea of making an account.
It's just great meeting you all!!! :DD :DD :DD
-
I rewatched the original film for the first time in years, and remembered how much I liked it. Then a friend recommended this site because he reads some of the fanfiction.
-
I was led here from my self. I searched for some Land Before Time Websites to find the songs from the movies. Since I liked a handful of them. And on the website I found this here forum and decided why not and join a forum that is dedicated to a move that I loved as a kid. And here I am now. And I'm very thankful for joining this forum. I really love it here. I like how there are many dedicated fans of the movie series. Young and old. It's really great. I still get the urge to want to watch all thirteen movies again. And I'm happy to meet a lot of new friends on here. This is a very welcoming forum. Witch is very nice. Glad to be a part of The Gang Of Five.
-
I found this website after I had learned that The Land Before Time had some scenes cut out and I went searching for those scenes. A Google search led me hear.
-
Can't remember exactly why I started thinking about it again, but I started thinking about Pterano back in May, and I was like huh... I wonder if there's an LBT forum out there? I'm really into forums, and as LBT is still one of my biggest interests, I decided to check and see, and Google led me here. :)
-
I was looking for an uncut version of the first movie of the Land before time, and info also. And that's how I stumbled upon the site.
-
I was on Pokeplayer984's website, when I saw a banner advertisement for this site. I went on and looked around. It seemed dull at first. When my passion for LBT increased dramatically, I remembered it so I joined. I love this place now.
-
One night, a loud noice from outside woke me up, so I went outside to see wht was going on. There were these strange looking creatures out there. They kinda looked like dinosaurs to me. Like maybe velociraptors, or those rainbow faces, or something. They took me up on their ship for experiments. I don't really remember that part, probably because they had me on soemthing, but I do remember it hurt.
After that whole mess, they said I was a good sport about it, and said to come here if I wanted to talk to them again.
Weird. :/
:p
-
There was a section on the Redclaw's page on the LBT wiki of a theory that he and Sharptooth may be the same or related. It sparked enough of my curiosity to google search any topics of it. There was one very interesting theory/debate on this very awesome-looking site and here I am!
-
I was searching for a good LBT forum....but i didn't find one in german....and so i found this forum...but i like it a lot and its a good practise to learn better english
-
Last year I just got back into Land Before Time. (Thanks to LBTLover1 YouTube Videos) I was shock to find out that there did 13th movies and also a TV show. Going back to my childhood past I found a wiki that told me everything about LBT. It also told me about this forum but I was too busy with school to join and talk non-stop about LBT. Now that I'm not so busy I joined just this week. Hello everyone! :p
-
I was searching for a good LBT forum....but i didn't find one in german....and so i found this forum...but i like it a lot and its a good practise to learn better english
There are a couple of German language land before time forums, but with the language reducing the number of potential members I don't know of any that became as active as the GOF. I used to try to establish German forums as well, but I believe that the GOF benefits especially from being as international as it is. This, I'm afraid, is something that cannot be achieved with a language that is less far spread as English is.
-
I better post in here before I forget :p
I found the GOF by searching for information on the scenes that were cut from the final version of the first film. Various search engines brought me here, and then I noticed all of the interesting discussions about all of the movies, so I stuck around and lurked.
I lurked at first because school was taking up all of my time and I knew that I wouldn't be able to partake in the discussions. The other reason was because I am actually very shy, and it took me this long to decide to join.
I know a year sounds like a long time to lurk, but I lurked 3 years on another site before I joined there!
But I'm glad I'm here now! :)
-
Same here.I was searching outcut LBT scenes, and this led me to the GOF.
-
I was looking up LBT screenshots for reference for my art after I got back into the fandom ;)
and I kept running into this site. At first I was all, "Huh, that's col," didn't relaly give it much thought,
AND THEN, I started reading fanfics that were posted on here, and I thought "WHOA! EPIC! I need to get me a username and fast! XD"
lol fandom can make people do anything
-
Last year I just got back into Land Before Time. (Thanks to LBTLover1 YouTube Videos) I was shock to find out that there did 13th movies and also a TV show.
Huh, so people do watch them...I might put a link to this forum or an advertisement on my channel to potentially get more members on the board.
-
A Sharptooth chased me here and I hid on this site for safety...
Just kidding.
Actually, I found this site when I just did a random "Land Before Time" google search. I scrolled down as usual and saw the site, so I checked it out and here I am!
-
I first found this site in 2010 or 11, when my interest in Land Before Time truly came back, I was searching for stories involving Chomper, and then found this place through captions, and gradually came back, and sometime in august that year, I decided to join, though I didn't do anything until 2012, and since then, I've become very active, glad I found this place.
-
I was looking for information. I can't remember what it was I originally wanted. A few Google results brought me here. Curiosity brought me back. :p
-
Well, if I can recall correctly, I think I clicked on a link to here on the LBTFanClub on DA. And then I just stumbled upon this great place! :DD
-
As I had started to get into LBT, I was on pokeplayer984's fan blog when I saw a link to this site. I decided to click on it, and here I am!
-
I knew about it for 3 years whenever I typed the land before time in I got this
I I really liked looking at the land before time topics now I decided to join
-
I found this forum throuth the German LBT-Forum of Malte :)
-
I actually found it through Google. :p
-
It's interesting, for a long while the only answer any new user gave was "pokeplayer's youtube videos." That was even my answer. Now they've been taken down and I do wonder how people find this place.
-
I was getting back into LBT in March of 2011, and while browsing around on the net on the night of the 27th, I found you guys! :celebrate
-
When I was signing in to the Gang of Five on 8 June 2013, I found you guys!
-
Googled "land before time forum" out of curiosity.
-
I did the same thing as you Jelly Otter. I Googled Land Before Time and this forum popped up and I joined right away. Never regretted it since.
-
Out of nostalgia, I googled "land before time" just like the previous two posters. I lurked on the forum for about a year before finally deciding to join as a member.
-
This will eventually be a sticky, but I want to know how people are finding the Gang of Five. What (or who) led you here?
This is actually one question I don't have to answer.
Haha! I found out about it through another InvisionFree forum!
-
I think I found it through a google land before time rp search
-
Did some Noodling... I mean Googling out of boredom/curiosity & voila!
Nah, actually as I'm creating the fansite/forum for PB&J Otter, I was curious how such fansites look for those shows I know to have a better idea how I should make mine. Saw ones for Wacky Racers, Top Cat, MLP, Spongebob & some few for LBT with this one being the biggest. Soon enough decided to join.
Whoops... Forgot / didn't notice I already posted here a year ago! xD
-
I was just browsing the internet for Land Before Time forums and I stumbled upon the Gang Of Five forum. Once I saw the Gang Of Five forum, I was hooked on it.
:wave :smile  :) :exactly
-
A new comer in another forum in which I'm a member mentioned this site, so I decided to check it out. I'm glad I did it, because I wanted to join a place like this.
-
Basically googled "land before time" then found my way here
-
Though Sky's dA page well sorta, from it to a fan club on that site that in turn lead to here, found that link years ago but only just joined at the start of this year.
-
I found it mentioned at the LBT Wiki.
-
I found it mentioned at the LBT Wiki.
I'm glad to hear that ;) I'm former head admin of the LBT Wiki, I negotiated all the affiliating with the GoF way back in 2011.
-
I think I saw a comment somewhere that said something about this being the most active LBT forum so I decided to join. It was right around when I heard about LBT 14
-
^where have you read about LBT 14 if you don't mind me asking? If it was DeviantArt then it was possibly a comment of mine :)
-
whoa, I still didn't post there?
I found this forum after I typed "outcut land before time scenes" in google search.
yeah...
after realising there's HUGE LBT community, I started to lurk you for years
-
Actually, that's pretty much my story too. After finding the topic about the deleted scenes, it wasn't a long step to discover the GOF in its entirety. It took me time to register even initially as I rarely join any sites but eventually I gave in to the urge to do so. :DD The thing is, I pretty much quit posting after some time as I thought I had little to contribute. I never stopped following GOF nor did I lose interest in LBT but I find the motivation to return only last year. I'm glad I did. :)
-
For me, it's quite a story. I discovered this forum in mid 2014, and before that, I was
suffering from mild depression and anxiety. See, I got back from a trip to South
Africa with my dad, and long trips sometimes don't mix well with me. Anyway, I had anxious thoughts about things which obviously wouldn't happen but
I also didn't feel like myself. I paced at times and my appetite was low. I lost around
6 pounds from the appetite decrease.
After a few months, I recovered, and some weeks after fully recovering I rediscovered
Land Before Time. Relieved after the ordeal, I enjoyed searching for clips and songs
of the original and sequels. Soon I found a fanart picture from Dalekdino, and I
discovered this forum. For over two years, I was just a guest on this site, since I didn't
really join any site or forum, but soon Dalekdino inspired me to join, and by
March 2017, I signed up and now am a member of such a friendly community.
-
I spend a majority of my time writing and reading fanfiction. Last year, I decided I'd start reading LBT stories on FF.net after being away from LBT for years (which is what growing up did to me!), and while I was reading some very interesting stories, some of them mentioned this forum and the fanfic challenge prompts. My good British friend on DeviantArt told me I should start posting stories on places other than just FF.net so I could make my stories readable to more people and expand my audience, so I took his advice. I'm happy to say I've been enjoying my time here so far, and it's been an interesting first year!
-
I posted on here when I was still very much new to this forum, but I guess it doesn't hurt to post here again, does it?
Around June of 2012 was when I rediscovered LBT and fell in love with it. I thought I found this forum via Google searching, but upon re-reading the previous post I made here, I was actually on a fan blog run by pokeplayer984. I guess a link must've been there, otherwise I would not have found this forum. This was when I was just getting into the fandom, and I lurked here for a few months before I finally joined. I've been here ever since, although I've been significantly absent from posting for a couple of years here for one reason or another.
-
I actually forget how I found GOF. I know it was around when I first revisited LBT last year, and I want to say I found it through the LBT wiki.
-
to be completely honest i actually found the GOF around 2012 or a few years before that, but I just never got around to actually joining. Then, earlier this year I heard about the fanfic prompt challenges and decided to join. And so, here I am! :DD
-
So, a bit of a quickie. Although I'd seen the first film way before I read my first LBT fic, it never occurred to me to look up an online community of Land Before Time fans. I legitimately thought it would be too niche to possibly find.
Thus, the first mention I'd seen of GOF was in Rhombus' The Seven Hunters on FFN. To be more precise, the Author's Notes section where this site is namedropped quite often. I then came across a few more mentions and assumed that it was an FFN Community Forum (funnily enough, the Fanfic Prompt Challenge actually is just that), so I didn't bother.
Fast forward to June 2018 prompt challenge. I'd read both The Road's End, The Friendship's Rebirth and A Swim of Silence, both great prompt entries that won me over and made me decide I liked this "Gang of Five forum" enough to join despite my usual wariness and apprehensiveness... then realized it wasn't a FFN forum but a web forum, which made the whole wariness thing moot to begin with.
And thus I joined as a member. :D
-
Started trying to find out if a fourteenth LBT film would ever happen back in 2013, and I stumbled onto this forum. I lurked on it for a year and a half before joining in early 2015.
-
I was looking up some songs from all of the LBT sequels and I saw the link to this forum on the wiki. I was so surprised to see that there's still an active fanbase! And so I joined immediately of course.
-
Only Petrie knows this but I might just share it with everybody :D
Oh well it all started when I was pretty much a kid, with the 9th lbt movie my mother and went to the store one day and bought a whole bounce of movies and
among them was lbt 9 I remember likening that movie so much I rewatched it like 20 times a day and after some time I found out there was a lot of those movies so I went and bought the 5th movie and I remember chomper became my favorite character I wasn't so good with numbers so I just bought any lbt movie in any order. And over time I stopped watching lbt until about 2 years ago when my dog passed I was pretty depressed so I started to watch old childhood movies and I eventually found lbt again and then I decided to watch every movie and oh god that was the first time I saw the lbt original and a movie has never made me cry so much and directly fell in loves with movies but at the same I had no one to talk to about these movies so I started to google discussions about lbt and theory's and eventually found the gang of five
When I found the Gof forums I instantly fell in love with it reading every posts and discussion how you guys showed such passion for this movie really got to me and I really felt I wanted to be apart of the community you guys created. But I wasn't sure if I would make an account or not but about I year ago I finally decided to just make it but then I never received the email confirmation so I was stuck just waiting for the email and then just about 2 weeks ago or a month ago I tried to log in and it worked I was SO HAPPY and now I'm here :rainbowwave
-
I initially found the forum from Rhombus' fanfiction.net profile, and since I was very interested in LBT I decided to check this place out. Like crazyg, I too had few problems when trying to create an account here first, and because of that I decided to quit trying. Until one day I thought about trying again, and to my delight, it worked. :smile
So far this community has been one of the best that I've ever interacted with in my life, and I can't wait to see what the year will bring with it. :)
-
I found the Gang of Five Forum via the link on TLBT wiki. I was already browsing that site for a while, and I didn't notice the link until a little bit after. Of course, I also lurked around here before deciding to register. I mean why not, being surrounded in a good community wouldn't hurt. Reading and posting here could be a good downtime for me, indeed.
-
I was browsing around on the Land Before Time page on TV Tropes, and it mentioned that there's an active fanbase and a forum for the series. This got me interested, as I wanted to talk about the series with other fans. I then did a Google search for "Land Before Time forum", and it brought me here. I lurked around for about a month before finally registering.
Interesting to see that a couple of the members had problems with their registrations. For me it worked just fine.
-

You got lucky! You joined just a few days after we stopped having issues :D
Our email system was down for a few months. So while new member accounts were being manually activated by us, they would never receive an email stating that they could access the forum. Most would forget about it and move on, luckily some decided to check back in sometime after. :yes
-
Oh wow, that was a stroke of good luck on my part. Especially because my registration could very well have happened sooner. It was in December 2018 when I rediscovered the original movie and fell in love with it, and even later on during the few weeks when I was lurking, I was already thinking of joining.
Do you guys know what caused your email system to shut down?
-
You got lucky! You joined just a few days after we stopped having issues
I thought the fault was my own, that maybe I had accidentally given a wrong email address or something like that. But like I said in my previous post, I decided to check again after sometime, and that was probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. :smile
-
I googled Land Before Time Forums and found GoF. It is my LBT sanctum. :)
-
my answer is a kinda short n simple one, but despite me being a new member, I actually came across this site back in February this year when I was looking to see if there were any Land Before Time sites out there. I was surprised to see how active it was here! now this is my go to place to chat about Land Before Time stuff :)petrie
-
I do not remember, when I got here for the first time, I just searched, and bumped into it, but I remember, that back then, there was an image with Chomper biting some banner.
I started to visit it, and finally joined it later.
-
Whatever the banner was, hopefully it tasted good.
:ChomperYummy
-
One day I searched up a Chomper picture and I was brought here. That was a long time ago, but I pretty soon ended up joining after 1 year since I looked at that image.
-
I joined the Legion of Ducky server and saw the tag for Gang of Five,
I decided I wanted that tag and asked how to get it.
Was told of this forum and joined right then and there. :petrieLOL
-
I joined the Legion of Ducky server
There's such server? :O
wow
Ducky would be happy! :Dducky
Cera would be jealous

Haha, nice. That's awesome. Chomper approves.
:ChomperImAwesome

I saw a link on the LBT wiki front page/sidebanner. I had heard about the forum a few times before, most recently in a YT video about a year ago, and I decided to see how active this place was. I was positively surprised c:
-
^Ooh, was it the Jenny Nicholson video that mentioned the forum? We've had a lot of people who ended up coming to the forum because of her video.
-
^ Yes it was! I ultimately joined when I saw the link in the wiki, but her video certainly was one of the contributing factors that lead me to it c:
-
I was looking up stuff related to LBT one night —-I hadn’t watched it much since I was pretty young, and was just starting to research it—-and it led me to this neat forum and discussion board.
-
I think it might've been a TVTropes link. I believe it's listed in The Land Before Time's YMMV section.
Then again, I've lurked here for about 10 years now (Criminy I'm old :GuidoAAAAAHHHHHH ). I'm probably remembering wrong :oops
-
It was a ranking video of all the lbt sequel and it had the link to the gof. I joined like 1 year later

Was it from Jenny Nicholson? That video had a link to said forum.
-
Yeah it was from her. I was too lazy to say it.
-
Jenny Nicholson has done the forums a great services.
-
I originally heard of it from Jenny Nicholson's video but didn't pay it any mind. It was only after I got in contact with The Mr E and became the science advisor of War Before Time that I decided to lurk. I finally made the leap of joining recently as I felt it might be helpful in the future due to certain things that I'm not currently at liberty to say. Plus I finally got over my bizarre hangups and decided to fully reconnect with this part of my childhood.
-

I'm always glad when people say they found us through the wiki, since I'm the one who initially developed it :D That's my big contribution to the LBT community, though I'm not involved with the Wiki these days.
The Jenny Nicholson vid was awesome too, I was watching that unpromoted and couldn't believe it when our forum (and the LBT Guy) both got shoutouts. She really did her homework, was so awesome to see from someone who was already one of my favorite YouTubers

I found out about GoF the same way. The youtuber is Jenny Nicholson in the video, "I’m on lockdown so I watched all 14 Land Before Times"
I'm on lockdown so I watched all 14 Land Before Times (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-8zmGr0geQ&t=884s)

Jenny Nicholson and pokeplayer984* have probably brought more people to our forum than everyone else combined, haha
*for those who weren't there, he uploaded all the songs to YouTube waaay back in the early 2000s, it was the easiest way to find them and they all had links to the GOF in their description. YouTube has long-since deleted them, but they were the primary gateway for years
