I'm hoping the mods dont mind if I posted this, and if it is in the wrong section, then please by any means move it, but let me know something. thanks guys! :)
This thread is to discuss the continuing RP of The Bashful One, which is the introduction of my personal dinosaur character, Denton.
I have a few good thoughts to share so far, plus some character sketches of the young longneck himself. I hope this thread can also be used to help the RP further into more interesting and adventurous territories!

Okay, where do I begin? Well, so far I've been pleased a bit about how well I introduced Denton to the series, shy awkward and well, you know... the few who have contributed to it so far have done an awesome job portraying their characters and Littlefoot (I can hardly wait to get to the full gang though) I felt some of the conversations and introductions did carry on a bit too long in some areas and it was hard to focus on one thing without another thing getting in the way, but all in all, we were able to pull some things off smoothly, and the long intros maybe could be overlooked as the story grows over time.
I had thought of so many things I wanted to say in this thread last night while on the job, but sadly because I was at work, I simply could not sit and write them all down, but I'll do what I can to dig up those thoughts and feelings concerning the story so far and get them in this post...

I should make a note that where the story is at right now (or where I made my last post) Denton finally declared that he finally wanted to venture out and see the valley. many of you might not see or understand it, but this is a kind of emotional and moving part for me in this story (I was listening to If We Hold On Together, Jordin Sparks version at the time). Its symbolic, pretty much of my own life. Pretty much like Denton, I've lived long sheltered and away from the world by will. And in a way, this is like me saying that I'm sick of it, and that I myself am ready to move on. I'm ready to meet new people, make new friends and see the world for what it is.

Like Denton, I was also hurt deeply by others. Like Denton, my heart was crushed, dreams and hopes were diminished by tragic and scornful moments in my life. And ever since, I decided I wanted nothing more to do with the world, or the people in it. I wanted to be on my own. Denton I've found much like many other characters I've created over the years has some form of symbolism to my emotions and my views on life. Denton represents to me a victory over denial and depression. He's become more apart of my mental image than I had ever thought he would.
And his making new friends has given me the lesson that its important to move on... that I need friends to help me to get past my past hurts. That life continues.
These are my personal thoughts so far, from the development of this character. I've found that I favor him now more than I intended to. and I suppose that is something to be proud of.
Also, I cant get 'If We Hold On Together' out of my head... its such a beautiful song and its fitting to this enlightning mood that I'm in *smiles* a beautiful song. yes.

An interesting article. I've enjoyed the rp so far. I thought you did Denton well. I"m not sure about my own rp as Littlefoot and Mim, but those are my first time as those characters.
I look forward to where this rp will go to. I'm sure the others involved enjoyed themselves as well. We may get some more folks to join after a bit.

I have really enjoyed this rp so far...and there is one thing I've noticed about OC's is they tend to mimic their creators alot. I myself have been through sever physical pain, I've broken several bones (one had to be RE-broken and set straight) and had so many surgiers I lost count!
And a lot of that pain is shown in my fanfic with Longtail...I'm starting to wonder if that's just good plot development, or if I'm just being silly. But maybe I am on to something... :blink:

Thanks.. they're pretty much practice sketches.. I can whip them out in a matter of minutes prior to a post.. it may come in handy for if I ever want to illustrate a scene

Unless someone else wants them I can do Ducky and or Petrie in addition to my Mim and current Littlefoot. Unless they'd rather 1 or more of those be left open.

Don't worry coming up with lines for all the characters won't be a problem for me...it's gonna be remembering WHO I rp as that's going to be the kicker! :lol

Maybe arrange the poses of them alphabetically. That is what I do to keep it straight, and look back to see who I did last in case I forget. Hope I'm not taking to many Fc's.
Do you prefer all the chars a player does in one post, or would you prefer them be broken up into FC and OC posts?

It really doesn't matter to me what order they go in, if you can fit all of your characters into one post then congratulations....if not that's okay too. Just do what you can with the FC's and OC's you've got.

Ah, well it seems like everyone is almost all together, and Denton is finally getting the chance to meet the gang..
well.. when I say 'almost' all together, I mean much of the RP group has accumulated almost into one spot -_o
I'm loving how the RP is moving on, and the side story with Mim seems to be going pretty interestingly

It's easier to keep track of with most of the folks in one place.
With Chomper's appearance I wonder if Denton's mother will shriek like in some old cartoons and jump to the top of a tree. :)

Sorry, I don't remember what the tree seed toss game thing is called, or if they ever named it. I recall seeing them playing it in at least 1 scene but don't recall what movie, tv episode or where in the movie or episode.

the blue love stone has somewhat captured my interest, despite that I'm not apart of that general sub story. Generally because I've always was fascinated by magical stones or treasures for the most part of my life.
I wish to make a note of interest that there are such treasures out there, though they were spelled and manipulated through occultic covens (Wiccan, Pegan magick). Love stones, wealth stones, wish stones, etc, etc
and those who believe in that type of thing say that when in possession of such devices (if it is the real thing), they can feel a strange warmth or heat coming from it, or it made them dizzy or queezy while holding it.
So in all, you seem to be going in the right direction with the 'sick' feeling in connection to touching the blue love stone.
Just a thought of interest

But only in rp threads that allow magic, psychics and such. The more pure threads can have the stone present with the same story, but it likely doesn't work.

I figured that since the bark of a certain tree is where asprin comes, or at least did come from at one point, there could have been a tree who's bark in the LBT era had the same pain relief effect if chewed or eaten, hense my putting it in. :)

well, I've read through the posts, I'm not entirely sure of the going ons, who's running to where or why, the cute little love sequence is quiet understandable, but I'm not part of that bit ^^
I suppose Denton would either still be with the gang, or he fell behind again and this time lost touch with everyone

I would naturally assume Denton to be with the gang for the simple reason that he wants to see the valley and his new gang of friends is the only way for him not to get lost, after all he did promise his mother he'd be home by the time nightfall came, and if he were alone, he might not be able to find his way back...so if you need a place to just bring him in, where ever the gang is would most likely be the best place.

You can always pose that he was very quiet since there was so much to see. That he was looking around him and trying to get everything in and also attempting to remember the way so he could come here again.

that's what I was thinking. Denton is pretty much the startling image of my own childhood (I speak this even as a surprize to myself) even amongst a host of friends I was always the silent observer of the group, only speaking when prompted to or feel its necessary.
Granted, not many people liked that, I just never really could find anything to say because I was always too busy taking in the conversations or the going on's
I'll work my way back into the RP, I feel Denton does need to break his shyness and silence though its going to be a bit hard this week as I'm having to move in with my granparents

Actually, Denton getting lost can be an advantage for the story, so many things can happen now.

Part of it is just do what Denton would do. Some things may be beyond his control though. This may also give you an idea for another aspect of Denton's personality maybe.

You sure you can run all 3 plots and keep them straight in your head? If possible it could make this rp interesting.
I wasn't sure if they ever used a term for all dinosaurs or if they used that term itself.

I'm quiet proud of my work with the sharpteeth, I figured I'd make Kragoth a highly intelligent raptor. The results kind of remind me of some Bond villain.

I like the idea, it'll be better then doing them as the usual way they are portrayed in the movies.
I left it a bit vague who Petrie is heading to, thought that best. You can decide who to rp and such and exactly when they will appear.

The good thing for me is that even though my OCs are based somewhat off of the characters from my fan-fic, the RP has nothing to with my fan-fic.

Maybe a bit much having Mim tackle him. Also the sleeper hold thing may be a bit much, but I thought it more in theme with the G ratedness of LBT, then another type of nastier holds. Also it's possible, I would guess, to accidentally discover it perhaps.

Ah yes, the legendary sleeper hold. I'm not much of a wrestling fan, but I have heard of this hold. Interesting what one can do just to win a match
I say its time we started bringing in the adults, I'd hate to leave Kragoth an opertunity to snack on poor Longtail.

I agree, Grandpa longneck may arrive first, and it's up to you who Petrie was able to reach, and if he reached any fliers the word could spread pretty fast.
I thought up the sleeper hold since it is far more g rated then some other holds. I looked it up so I could do half decent pose. I thought certain holds one could discover during battle. Like Edgar Rice Burroughs had Tarzan, discover I think the half and full nelson in his books, if I remember correct, battling I think Kerchak, I think the mongani's name was.

I guess I can assume Mim and Littlefoot have put the one they were chasing to sleep. I also guess Mim's forearms would be clawed, if the fast biter could reach, them since I doubt it would do nothing and just wait to go unconscious.

hmm, I suppose that's up to you. I only control Agnog in that area, and unless you seem to give me an open advantage, I wouldnt let my character do damage to your character

Hope folks do not mind my working Diver into a cameo scene. I thought it best to be very vague and not rp which grown up, or make up one, who was taking care of some of the kids while the rest are playing with the fast biters.

Agnog is in a worse position than Blackclaw.
Everytime he wakes up, he gets shocked unconscious.

I did have plans to make Kragoth my greatest dino villain, though I figured it be best if I had him killed off and Blackclaw would desire a form of revenge for it.
Niether Blackclaw nor Agnog are to be slain off in this RP
the story so far has been something awesome!

You all may try to fight Blackclaw, but it's highly requested to let him see for himself his dead father, and to allow his escape from the valley
Important plot points these are. and they will be what moves into the next part of the story.

Well the one Mim put to sleep and is bound and gagged is still alive, so if you control most of the elders they can decide his fate as you wish it to go. Though I think The Great Valley Guarding is doing Grandpa Longneck.

As for the "You killed my father" thing, my C++ teacher made a reference to it today to the freshmen. I visit him teaching the freshmen at lunch. I don't like the lunchroom at my school.

I guess what'shisname will hate his brother being caught by someone rendered unconscious and tied all up. Maybe he'll hate less since she's not a full leaf nibbler, but only partially so.

I'm not entirely sure I understand what you mean... are you talking about Blackclaw?

I don't know the names of either of the fast biters. But I assume the not tied and muzzled one will not be to happy with his brother. Letting himself be tied up, as he may see his brother as doing, regardless of the fact he was rendered unconscious.

Agnog is the one who is tied up, Blackclaw is the one currently fleeing the valley, and Kragoth was the elderly father of the two who just died.
to be honest, Agnog was not particularly favored amongst his father or his brother Blackclaw. Agnog is your basic dumb sharptooth type, except maybe missing a few more brain cells. He's like the Sharptooth equivalent of Spike.
Though also to be fair, Blackclaw is not at all happy about the capture of his brother, as Agnog is all he has left for a family (aside from Blackclaw's closest cousin, Torgo, who will be apearing in the sequel RP)

what I mean is, Agnog cant speak anything other than an occasional "DUHRRR!" dumb has a meaning ya know, and I'm not refering to stupid dumb... dumb dumb.. disabled dumb.. autism at its best

Spike's spoken at east a few words. I wonder if it's maybe more like Spike doesn't want to or see the need to speak much. At least in some scenes it seemed that way. It could be some other reason though.

Well, Asperger's Syndrome, which is a social disability, is sometimes considered high-functioning autism. So autism is technically a communication disability.
