I think I read somewhere that Kung Fu Panda was originally written to be the first of six installments. Or maybe it was three... But I think it was six, because I remember being surprised when I read it. Of course, if it doesn't continue to be profitable they'll almost certainly drop that idea.

I'm kind of glad that someone other than Pixar won... It kinda felt to me like they kept giving Pixar the gold just because they're Pixar. But then that's just me  :smile

Its supposed to be 6, but if the films keep grossing around $200 million, they'll keep making them. By film 6 we'll probably be dealing with Po's and Tigress' kids...

Po and Tigress' kids?! Now that's a scary thought  :lol

I liked Wall-E a lot too! I think it was much more suited to win than some of Pixar's other works that ended up taking home the gold. But ah well, it's just another silly award anyways.

hey, Po's dad is a duck, so it could happen... and most likely will considering the story arc so far. Po's won over the friendship of most of the Five, Tigress is the only real holdout. A relationship will grow between them at some point.. it always does in stories like this..

Yeah, you're right, it does seem like the romance with the strongest story and character development possibilities. But who knows, with five more to come it's also possible that they'll introduce a new love interest. I guess we'll have to wait and see :)

I always thought Po was adopted and that's why his father was a duck.

Wghether or not Po was adopted is unclear. It certainly is possible.. I'm interested in what sort of villian they'll have for the sequels..

They never did say why Po's dad was a duck.  Was kind of hoping it would've happened right before that "secret ingredient" was revealed.

Haha, yeah, I was hoping for it too. Of course there was probably something fishy going on with Po's dad's eagerness to change the subject, but I think they'll end up addressing it in one of the sequels anyways.

I'm not surprised to be honest.  Granted that I loved Wall-e and I admit it was a good movie with a lot of heart, but Kung Fu Panda did something that a lot of Kung Fu movies haven't ever done.  They combined Comedy with Kung Fu.  That is quite a bold move and usually the idea of it falls flat on it's feet.  Dreamworks on the other hand, did unbelievably well. :wow

To be honest, just about all they did was a bold move.  Seriously, did you EVER think the idea of a Panda doing Kung Fu was possible?  For me, it wasn't until I saw this movie.  Not to mention everything happening accidentally.  Making everything turn out okay in the end and having it all happen accidentally is another bold move.  They pulled that off quite well.

Not to mention putting food into teaching.  Another bold move.  And I'm sure we all know how well that was done.

A lot of bold moves pulled off VERY well in a single movie where many often fail deserves to be rewarded for it's greatness, and apparently, it was.

I'm not surprised and I'm glad it happened. :D

They keep giving it to Pixar because their movies are the best. They're like Disney was back when it was brand new.

WALL-E, Bolt, Waltz with Bashir, all of these were infinitely better than Kung Fu Panda in my opinion. I've lost all respect for the Annie Awards.

But the Academy Awards, the big one, is still on the way. And I'm riding on WALL-E and Slumdog Millionaire to score high.

Oh, but I disagree. I thought a number of Pixar movies were sub-par, or severely over-rated. I do think Wall-E should have beaten Kung-Fu Panda, but there are also many instances in which I believe Pixar should have lost. The Annies remain what they always have been: Very subjective.

Aside from that, I really appreciate the role that Pixar has played as a trailblazer for storytelling and CGI animation. I just wouldn't call them 'The Absolute Best,' is all.

Reviewing Wikipedia's "List of Pixar films," I actually realize you're right. When I think of Pixar, I think of WALL-E, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, but I forgot they also made Monsters Inc, Cars, and A Bug's Life. Yeah, I guess everything they make isn't cream of the crop, but WALL-E was.

Yeah, I definitely agree. Wall-E was spectacular.

I think WALL E was great too, but I also think the same for Kung Fu Panda. I thought both movies had different qualities to them.

I'm now getting into Kung Fu Panda, and I'm already excited for the sequel. Several the stories I've read on fanfiction.net are actually pretty decent.

PS: My favorite character is Crane.
