General Land Before Time / Why is this so rare?
« on: July 02, 2017, 05:30:29 AM »
Peer pressure is most definitely the reason why there aren't that many LBT fans online. I'm sure there's plenty of people out there who might like the movies, the characters, even the TV show, but never thought of them as anything more than silly distractions they're probably too old to enjoy. And we've got noone else, but Universal itself to blame: it's like they did everything they could to distance every new installment in the franchise from its roots and make it crystal clear that they were only targeting the youngest of audiences. You don't see Disney do that. Disney usually just makes a movie and whoever likes it likes it.

I see no point in not trying to reach as many people as possible.

Character Discussion / The Sharptooth = supernatural?

That seems very plausible, considering the movie itself starts with the comment on how the environment which dinosaurs inhabited was in turmoil.

Well, one could take an official Aerodactyl plush and make it into a custom Uncle Pterano masterpiece... Just saying. :D

Sorry for going off topic... But every time I see the name of this thread, I read it in Prof. Farnsworth's voice. :D

Let me put it this way: what possible motivation would Universal have to destroy expensive, completed animation?
Not everything in life goes as planned. :D

Land Before Time TV Series (2007) / In Defense of Red Claw
« on: June 21, 2017, 04:58:40 PM »
Yeah, they really dropped the ball with Red Claw. You can't just shove a character into the story, declare him the ultimate evil and then make him look like a joke most of the time, unless he's comic relief... Which he wasn't. :(

Tyrannosaurus aren't said to be able to live over a century as well...
Neither are longnecks, but Doc is still about and well. As for him looking different than the Meanest Sharptooth... Well, didn't we see him only in Littlefoot and the gang's fantasy? Not that I personally think that Red Claw had anything to do with the Lone Dinosaur legend. If anything it's proof that he only recently emerged from the Mysterious Beyond.

Yeah, I agree. Using a nickname when messaging someone about their work seems inappropriate.

So, are we collecting signatures or names to put under the main text of the letter? Cause if we are then count me in. :)

Character Discussion / Is Guido gay?
« on: June 18, 2017, 05:02:51 AM »
I'd say Guido is only as gay as the author of the next fanfic wants him to be. Such is the case with most fictional characters. ;)

In case anyone was wondering what the Red Square looked like in Pokemon Go.

Red Claw looked alright. It's just that we were constantly told how mean and dangerous he was, but that's about it. In the words of Nostalgia Critic - "show, don't tell". The way the writers and animators handled him, the main villain of the TV series looked more like a run of the mill T-Rex with a scar who somehow got quite a reputation, but was still easily fooled by a bunch of kids and defeated by an old timer like Mr. Threehorn or Littlefoot's grandfather. The viewers never actually got any proof Red Claw was worthy of all the buildup.

Haven't been on here for a while recently - too much stuff needed my attention IRL. Have the letter been sent yet?

Yup. The European Plateau is basically the Great Valley and beyond the Urals lay the Mysterious Beyond alright. No dinos though - the climate's too cold.
