General Land Before Time / Ali and Littlefoot
« on: June 04, 2017, 07:37:32 AM »
You mean in the TV series? Well, Ali appeared in a single episode and that mainly focused on another young longneck called Rhett and his lies. So, basically... Nothing has transpired between the two. :(

In "north capital city".
That's what people here call Saint-Petersburg, in case someone's wondering. :)

If he didn't make so many horrible movies I wouldn't pick on him
Case in point. On the subject of life in the largest part of what used to be the USSR... I have several albums with thousands of photos taken in Moscow and its suburbs if anyone's interested. Although it is as they say: the capital and the rest of Russia are two different countries. :)

Thanks, guys! Yeah, it went okay. Left for home early and ate a ton of sushi. :D

Land Before Time TV Series (2007) / Was Ret attracted to Ali?
« on: June 01, 2017, 06:41:38 PM »
I'm gonna say no. It's pretty clear Rhett only needed her as the fuel for his ego. Plus, it would seem Ali was the only longneck his age in the entire herd and thus the only one to have fallen for his display of bravado.

1988 Theatrical Release / Tell Your Story About LBT

I had videotapes with "like an official translation", videotapes with the translation of our Central Channel, when they undertook to broadcast these cartoons (I recorded them on a VHS), as well as videotapes with single-voice amateur translation.
Lucky you. All I had were the latter ones until pretty late in the 90s when I watched LBT IV with a professional dub on TV and recorded that. Before that all I had were the original movie, LBT II and LBT V where all the voice were done by one guy.

Boy, oh boy... Another Russian member on GoF? What, did someone sprinkled the place with vodka again while I wasn't looking? *sniff, sniff*  :lol

Attic Treasures / Jurassic Park/Lost World Jurassic Park
« on: April 21, 2017, 08:09:39 PM »
I've read both books in English and I have to say... No matter how well the first Jurassic Park movie is, it doesn't exactly do justice to the Sci-Fi part of Michael Crichton's work. And there's no point in commenting on Lost World. The book is a hundred times better. :(

Character Discussion / The Sharptooth = supernatural?
« on: April 21, 2017, 08:06:29 PM »
Lone predators are outfitted for combat by nature. Gregarious herbivores - not so much, no matter what kind of motivation they have. But there's safety in numbers... Unless everyone on your group is a kid. :D

Character Discussion / The Sharptooth = supernatural?
« on: April 21, 2017, 07:43:00 PM »
Honestly, the only reason why the sharptooth in the original movie seems so powerful and invincible is because he's shown from the point of view of a bunch of (almost) helpless dinosaur kids. It's supposed to help the viewer emphasize with the group of protagonists more. If that big carnivore met - say - that herd of hungry longnecks that devoured the little patch of green food Littlefoot and his friends first mistook for the Great Valley, I'm pretty sure they'd fight him off no problem. :)

General Land Before Time / Does 4 or 5 have more nostalgia?
« on: April 21, 2017, 07:36:30 PM »
I really prefer LBT5 over the fourth movie, probably because of two reasons: first I've seen them in reversed order and second - I absolutely adore Chomper. :)

1988 Theatrical Release / Cera's growing bond with the gang
« on: April 21, 2017, 07:33:39 PM »
I guess when it comes to Cera the rest of the gang simply accepted her for what she was. She came back to help them out and in the end all that mattered was that they all were unharmed and reached the Great Valley together... Who really cares if one hot-headed threehorn knows how to apologize or not?

1988 Theatrical Release / Littlefoot, the Messiah
« on: April 21, 2017, 07:28:35 PM »
Littlefoot does kind of serve as the spiritual guide to the rest of the gang though. Trying to teach them how to work together and never give up hope. There are some similarities with messianic type of character, I suppose... Only with a lot less preaching and dogma involved.

So I’m kind of drawing a blank there on what would finally make daughter and father discuss the topic. Some event involving mothers?
Honestly as much as I would like to see this scene play out, I also kind of think that the boat has already sailed on that one. If anything, Mr. Threehorn would have to bring the topic of Cera's mom to her in a conversation sometimes soon after they got reunited in the Great Valley. Right now it would be a lot more difficult to think of a decent setting where such conversation wouldn't seem out of place... Then again, Littlefoot did sing about his mother in LBTV and it went surprisingly well.
Oh, and another situation that I'm dying to see in a LBT movie is Chomper learning about Littlefoot's mom's fate. I mean, does the little sharptooth even know what happened to her? How do you think Chomper would react if he heard about it from someone else (probably from Cera, who'd bring it up to hurt his feelings... Maybe during some stressful situation when the gang were in danger and she herself lost her cool)?

I'm a terrible person. I instantly thought of the JitteryDragon's "Petrie Has A Nervous Breakdown" video...

Silver Screen / Power Rangers

Had a choice last week between going to see the new Rangers or watch the Sci-Fi horror movie "Life". Picked the latter and was severely disappointed. Now all my friends are too busy to go and check out the former option. :(

Gamers Zone / Whatcha playin'?
« on: April 02, 2017, 05:49:43 AM »
Been playing Stellaris lately... Can't wait for the Utopia DLC to finally hit the virtual market shelves next week. Also been busy exploring stuff in LEGO Worlds, probably my favourite sandbox ever now. I only wish they'd include bigger vehicles and railroads in that game and my life would be complete.
With that said however, my new job leaves me very little time to spend playing video games. My "Recent Activity" counter on Steam went from "60-70 hours in the past 2 weeks" to the meager 20-25. :(
