Hmm...I like dogs somewhat(larger ones anyways - anything smaller than a springer spaniel is not good for me), but I like cats better - I can get along better with most cats than most dogs.

@Ptyra: I guess that's the same with me and cats. I absolutely LOVE them to death. And whenever I see someone say they hate cats and think they are worst animals in the world, I just want to hit the roof. I mean sometimes I'm not offended, but other times I am. :p

I really hope I did not offend ya, Ptyra :(.  Everyone has their fears.  I personally dislike hearing anyone say they don't like dogs or cats, especially without a truly valid cause <_<, but they have the right to their opinion also.

Sharks.. I love sharks.
They glide through the water, silent and deadly.
Of cause, whales and dolphins are in my favorite too, thought that would probably be the orca, the most.

Eagles, Hawks, Falcons. Beautiful creatures, as they glide on the winds of the world.

I'm not afraid of most creatures, but what I'm afraid of, is a creature that will bite me, or hurt.
Example a rabbit. If it bites me, I will have defficulties on holding another rabbit some other time.

The only breed of dog I like are labradors. My current dog is just annoying, not like my old companion. Not to mention my grandparents had a nasty german shepard and my aunt and uncle owned an evil dalmation.

Anyway...

*Cats (Including house-hold and wild.)
*Snakes
*Spiders
*Sharks
*Dolphins
*Whales
*Rays
*Any kind of lizard. (Crocodiles, aliigators, and especially Komodo dragons.)
*African Wild Dogs and Hyenas are cool. (Poor Hyenas get too much flak.)
*Honey Badger/Ratel
*Frogs
*Praying Mantis
*Beetles
*Grasshoppers
*Crickets
*Bees
*Dragonflies

Fictional critters:
*Dragons, dragons, dragons
*Gryphons

Labs are cool aren't they? :) Though I really wouldn't judge a dog by its breed, I would judge the people that own the dog. I think pit bulls are beautiful dogs and they can be very sweet animals, they're only banned because of the bad rep. And if I had the patience for dogs and would own one, I would. :yes

I think those animals are cool too. :) Though Hyenas I think are more of a VERY distant cousins of dogs. They have a very interesting and different life style then wolves. The females are the top and it's the more docile males that breed rather then the aggressive ones.

I'm surprised I didn't have otters on my original list, but they're the fun sociable animals that always stick together. :)

Dogs are cool I'll admit, but they're not all for me. A dog requires care, while a cat is more independent.

Yeah, one of the reasons I like hyenas is because they're such unique animals. Not saying I'd want to be one though.  :p

Oh, and wolves should also be on my list. And otters too.  :DD

Whoa, I wasn't aware that this thread existed! :o Thanks for bumping it, Amy!

To keep my list short(er), I'll limit it to animals that are still alive today, or have been wiped out by humans in recorded history (extinct and probably extinct species are marked with a Ü). They won’t be in any particular order, but I’ll categorize them by taxonomic group.

Okey-dokey…everyone ready? :p

^It would've been quicker to list the animals you don't like.

Why parasitic flies? I thought that they weren't good for anything but disease.

Hmm…You kinda got me there. :p I suppose humans are on both my favorite and least favorite lists, because while I do care about people, I hate the fact that we've done so much damage to the environment and killed off so many species. :bang I definitely don't care for the mosquitoes that try to bite me or the flour moths plaguing our household, and while I like watching deer, I'm not happy that they devour all foliage within six feet of the ground in our neighborhood every year (There are around one million deer in Minnesota, and with little to control them besides car accidents and hunting season, they can be a real nuisance). Not to mention that I'd just as soon get rid of all the populations of invasive species causing ecological damage around the world (even though many of them are species on my favorites list). However, there's not really any species that I hate as a whole; it's only certain individuals and populations that I may not like.

Still, perhaps I should have limited my list to the creatures I'm especially, passionately fond of. I have serious trouble choosing favorites. :p

I actually find parasites rather fascinating, but I mainly meant the flies that parasitize other insects; you know, the kind that inspired the life cycle of the creatures in the Alien series (fly lays an egg on or inside a caterpillar or other insect; egg hatches and larva either sponges off on what its host eats, or eats the host itself; eventually larva kills host and pupates, emerging as an adult). Gruesome, but I find it interesting, and these flies play a major role in keep insect populations in check, including many that destroy human crops.
