It simply doesn't pay off.. and that happens sometimes. You can be active nearly every day, post dozens or hundereds of times a week, and while that may get you consideration, it does not guarantee you sucess. such is the nature of dedemocracy, when you give people lots of options.. they will not always pick the option, you'd prefer..

I know... but, there is a point at which things become unfair... such as an electorate which never elected a woman or a minority.

Can I open a poll asking if the community would like to let me share the real status of "RP gamer" to confirm it then?

Yes, but that poll will not recieve many votes in your favor.. If you put up this poll, do not be surprised if it recieves few votes, or if it does recieve its fair share that iit is overwhelming ly against you... You have to be patient Noname.. While you are correct in your assertation the anaology you are trying to make falls apart..  So you were busy during the voting period? So was I! So was petrie! So were all the admins. Yet we made time to vote.. You are not being discrimated against here Noname.. you simply do not like the outcome..

Why do you think the poll will go that way? I am not asking to TAKE anyone's award, merely to share in it.

Noname...let me ask you something.  Do you ever interact with other members of GOF outside of the forums?  If not, maybe you should try that.  Let people get to know you, not for what you post and for how active you are, but for WHO you are.

Also, what award would you like to win?  Pick one and go for it.  Forget about the other ones.  If you want to be a good RPer then work on your grammar and English skills and spend your free time trying to be creative.  If you want one for fanart, practice your drawing skills and post lots of projects.  There are things you can do and frankly if you're not getting what you want from this place then you need to try harder.  The people here are as nice and friendly as you're ever gonna see.  We hold no grudge against you and our voting was and will never be biased.

EDIT:  Forgot a word.  God I'm tired. :bang

I never said that anyone held a grudge against me... and yes, I have contacted quite a few people outside of this forum. I am aiming for the RP award, but can take anything else... except for fan-art. I cannot draw living beings very well.

Well then I see two possible reasons why you're not getting the award you want.  It's either #1 that you're not the best RPer on the forum or #2 that you need to spice up your avatar and signature more.  To be perfectly honest with you, I remember members by their avatars and signature.  I forget about your existence when I haven't seen you post for a day or two.  You need to associate something with your name so people remember you more.  That would be my best suggestion.

The it might as well be called "the best-remembered award." That kind of defeats the purpose of naming awards by merit.

Look at all the people who won awards Noname.  NONE of them have no avatar or no signature.  I'm sorry but we as humans can't physically remember the usernames of our approximately 150 active members without some sort of visual aid.  It's part of our nature as humans.  It's not about being flashy.  Avatars and signatures play a big part in our impact on forums and on the internet.

EDIT:  Forgot a word again. :bang

Yeah, but your username is in a different color from the rest of the regular members, is it not?  It's much easier to remember when you're only 1 in 5 of the members that post that has that color of username.

I'd say aim for one award; it's a lot easier.

It was like those social sites where you have to have a picture or no one notices you... THAT was my problem. I now have an avatar. While I'm not counting on it to fix everything, I contend that if I had had it a week ago, I would have been considered more seriously, or even won something in the voting.

I wonder if this should be discussed in a seperate topic.

I think we should split it off as it has gone pretty far off track.

No.  I think if this conversation is to continue, it should continue either off the board or through PMs and emails.

Noname, you must remove that award from your signature again.
No single admin can make the decision to grant an award to anyone. Such decisions require the agreement of at least three admins. Which you did not get.
There is a good example why you did not get so much attention in this vote, as you just did not participate in the whole vote. Even if every single member of the GOF had voted for you on every single award existing you would, by the rules, not be entitled to get it because you did not cast a single vote yourself. You cannot expect to be recognized without giving some recognition yourself and you, noname, just didn't.
There is another thing that you may be happy to hear but that also goes to show that your participation in the GOF is shallow in a sense. If it was not you would be aware that in fact you ARE actually entitled to one award. You joined back in 2006 and have remained active ever since. Therefore you are fully entitled to wear this award:

We take great care to prevent any arbitrary votes or any nepotism (that's one of the purposes of the explanatory lines), but giving people a good reason to vote for you on a particular award and voting yourself are the absolute preconditions to get an award in the vote. We cannot allow people to be awarded for complaining about not receiving an award.
You are fully entitled to add the award displayed in this message to your signature (as you would have known if you followed the threads in the GOF more closely), but you must remove that "honorable mention" award from your thread.
Honorable mentions themselves however may perhaps be a good idea in the signatures. I think there would be nothing wrong if people wanted to copy paste the lines of any award votes in which they and their accomplishments are mentioned to their signatures.
