Ok, here's what I was thinking.

The rooster the duke sent to fight chanticleer makes his return to the dukes lair. he convinces the duke to male the kitty (Edmond) suffer. The duke turns Edmond back into a kitten and turns Edmond's family into mice and eats them, as he goes to Eat Edmond, Patou bites him on the leg, and Edmond turns his flashlight on the duke.

Hmm... I like the beginning, but how about when the Duke was about to eat the mice, my vulture comes in and steals them, and during the fight, Edmond runs away to the farm?

Sounds like it may work. maybe they are put in with other mice, which may explain why they are not eaten immediately, assuming they are not meant to be eaten pretty quickly.
