General Land Before Time / If LBT Was Anime, Would You Watch it?
« on: April 17, 2010, 02:43:45 PM »
I'd watch it. As long as Cera didn't add 'dattebayo' to end of every sentence...

As far as comparing the quality of anime vs western animation goes, remember that both are animated on the cheap in Korea.  :lol

Computer and Electronics / Windows XP Service Pack 3

IMPORTANT WARNING!!!

My uncle repairs computers for a living, and he passed this warning on to me.

DO NOT install Service Pack 3 on computers with AMD processors without applying the appropriate patch FIRST. There is a risk of causing serious harm to your computer if you do.

General Land Before Time / Land Before Time 2 spoof in Dinotopia

This episode had the best line in the whole series:

Woman - "There must be something here he [the baby T-rex] likes to eat?"

Man - *holds up bandaged fingers* "Yes, us!"

Silver Screen / Avatar: The Last Air Bender

Bending the water in people's bodies? Yikes, that's harsh.

However, that's one thing I like about Avatar. They find imaginitive ways of using peoples powers, like the guy in the swamp who could bend the water in plants.

The show is actually called Avatar: The Legend of Aang in europe for some reason. Probably a conflict of copyrights.

It's a good series. I wish it was on more often so I could watch it properly.

Well, despite weeks of the entire country being sold out, I finally managed to catch Amazon UK with a copy in stock. It should be here in under a week.

Computer and Electronics / Bandwidth Usage
« on: May 13, 2008, 04:24:27 AM »
Me neither. The only reason I know how much I use is because I got a letter telling not to exceed the limit.

I think I use around 10-15 Gb per month.

Once you delete something from the recycle bin, the memory it had allocated is now shown as "blank".  Things you deleted not fully deleted?  Absurd. Cookies being cleared is the only thing you can't really send to the recycle bin unless you physically look them up in the C directory.  The only way I can see accounting for over 30gb of files is if you just sent the files to the recycle bin and didn't delete them yet.  You must click "empty the recycle bin" to delete the files.

I just emptied my recycle bin.  I had 68gb of files in there, which now show up as empty space.
Actually, I believe that's not how deleting files actually works.

The fact that the memory is marked as 'blank' doesn't actually mean the deleted stuff is gone forever, it only means that the memory it was occupying is considered free to use for saving new stuff. Until new stuff is saved over that portion of the memory, the deleted stuff is still there.

This is why programs that recover deleted files work.

Religios issues? That's strange. What could there be in Brawl that's suitable for the american version, but too religiously sensitive for the european version?

I don't get why Nintendo keep doing this. If Galaxy and Mario Kart can be released close together in europe and america, why are nintendo games usually (Super Paper Mario, Metroid Prime 3, SSBB) delayed by 3 months?

Amazon.co.uk has just updated it's release date for Brawl to 1st June.  :cry
Until now it was listed as April 30th, and I was hopeful.

Computer and Electronics / It's Alive!
« on: April 11, 2008, 08:05:00 AM »
I remember the first computer I had (not counting the Commodore 64). It cost £1000 (around $1900). Back then, windows 98 was very much brand new.

I was happy with it until I moved into university halls of residence in 2002, when I discovered that the free internet required something called an "network card". There were enough computer around that didn't come with one that they actually sold them at the reception desk.

I eventually had to upgrade due to data transfer issues, namely that the computer couldn't write CDs or work with USB drives. I was moving stuff between home and computer lab on floppys.  :lol

virtualdub will only work if you are recording in the mpeg format (mpg).  If you're recording in avi, then you might want to see if Windows Movie Maker will work.
Not so. I have often used Virtualdub on avi format. The only formats it doesn't work with in my experience are wmv (because of copyright), mov (same), mp4 and mkv (because mp4 and mkv are weird).

That would be the best way, instead of trying to say, it's been 5 cold times, when time doesn't really pass much in the lbt universe.
Not sure I agree with that. The movies and series have shown a couple of cold-times since Pterano left.
