Title: 3D Modelling / Animation
Post by: Nimrod on April 13, 2016, 06:24:11 AM
Hey to all :wave
I was just wondering. Lately I went to the movie Zootopia. I have to say that I really loved the movie and I got interested in the creation of 3D movies and wanted to start practising a little bit to myself.

My question is now, which program might be better to use? Blender or Maya?
It should be able to build 3D characters and to animate them, but also the creation of fur or hair would be an issue to me. ;)

So, any suggestions?

Thanks in advance. :)

I know both of them can more or less do what you want, so it's a matter of "do you want to pay for the program or use a free one?"

I don't know as much about Maya, but I know that Blender is very powerful and more than capable of getting the job done.

I would definitely recommend blender to start with. It's relatively easy to use, there are plenty of good tutorials available, and, best of all, it's free! It's a great program to use to get acquainted with 3D modeling and animation to see if it's right for you before investing a lot of money.
Best wishes with your endeavors! I have a little bit of experience with blender, myself. 3D modeling is a steep learning curve.

Thanks a thousend for your comments. I downloaded Blender now and watch "Many" tutorials to learn about it.
Also playing with the thought of studying 3D Modelling..
