Hey, everyone and welcome to the grand debut of Yu-Gi-Oh: Rise of the Dinosaurs. Awhile ago I was thinking of doing a rather interesting crossover that involved one of my favorite animes. I’m sure most of you have heard of Yu-Gi-Oh; a card game based off of an anime. You could look up info on wikipedia for info, but this prologue should explain and give you a general idea of the series. The story will not only crossover Yu-Gi-Oh and the Land Before Time, but it will be a tribute story by inserting scenarios and characters from certain LBT fanfiction. This will include: Keni’s Sharptooth Heart series and Land Before Time: Battle Network story. The Alimons of Dark Hououmon, which include EbonyPatriot’s Rock Rangers, Tree-star, and Stone. And lastly will include Littlefoot1616's characters from Battle of the Sacred Essences. Please note that I had received permission from each writer to use their content. Also, to let you guys know that the story will be AU to the Alimon storyline as the dinosaur kids would arrive to the valley as soon as Rorra became the leader of the Darkarians and elements from the first eleven movies will be seen during the tournament storyline.

This story will feature a duel monsters tournament which will feature the LBT characters who are cards and have many different abilities. There will also be a storyline that will revolve around Dark Hououmon’s Alimons and Keni’s Sharptooth Heart. Littlefoot1616 will have a side story in the story. There will be a total of five story arcs; one which is sort of a prelude to one of the sagas in Yu-Gi-Oh GX.

Last but not least, if you still wish to enter as a duelist please let me know. Only Threehorn and Cyberlizard were the only ones who have entered and the characters from Land Before Time: Battle Network will appear in this story. Feel free to let me know if you still wish to enter as a duelist.

Disclaimers: I do not own the rights to the Yu-Gi-Oh series or the LBT series. They belong to their respected owners. The Alimon dinosaurs belong to Dark Hououmon and the Rock Rangers belong to EbonyPatriot. The characters from A Sharptooth Heart and Land Before Time: Battle Network belong to Keni, and the characters from Battle of the Sacred Essences belong to Littlefoot1616. I own the rights to any original characters, original cards, and the storyline that will intertwine with the Alimon story. Do not plagiarize, flame, or spam this story. If you wish to suggest any cards feel free to do so. This story is rated: T according to the fanfiction rating system.

Prologue: War of a Million Years

Life, a great mystery that has baffled the minds of many individuals for decades. Everyday people wonder if what we see is a dream or a reality. Some people thing that life revolves around scientific facts like DNA, genes, molecules, atoms, or cells. Others believe that life was created through religion, that God created everything that stands before humans. Whatever the reason, life is one of the greatest mysterious that has yet to be solved by both the sides of science and religion. However, old wive’s tales have been passed down from generation to generation explaining that our universe and life itself was created through dark magic.

5000 years ago in the sands of Egypt, the mighty pharaohs came to discover a great dark power hidden beneath the soft warm ground. Legend has once said that when the world was first created, a dark magic energy was born from a tiny spec of darkness. Before the birth of the planets, before the birth of the stars, the universe was an endless white void. If you had the ability to fly and you resided there, you’d be lost just trying to find your way out. It was timeless. One day, a great dark mist slowly covered the area with its unexpected presents. That mist slowly started disrupting the light void. It’s power grew and grew, gaining total dominance over the white void. Soon enough the void completely took over the white, causing the blackness of space to be born.

The stars that shine in the sky today are left over fragments of that white void. As the dark magic’s power grew, it began to create unexpected things within this new dark sky. It brought dust and particles together to form the planets that resides within our universe. Each planet that was created holds a dark magic deep within it of the dark sky. That dark magic, in reality was a good thing as it help kept the planets together. However, one world, a world known as earth evoked that dark magic and used it for evil purposes.

Ancient pharaohs discovered the dark magic of the shadows and used this great power to change their current lifestyle forever. Using the dark power of the shadows, they were able to bring real monsters to life. These monsters began to go on a rampage throughout Egypt and bring death to many people. They would rip people’s apart. They’d sink their sharp teeth into the humans flesh and tare their skin out. The monsters would lick their lip from the scrumptious taste of human flesh. The towns and streets of Egypt were covered by corpses that rot away in the hot climate. The living wouldn’t be able to sleep at night, knowing that these creatures of darkness were hiding in the shadows, ready to pounce on them and bring an end to their prosperous lives. The only sounds the citizens could hear was the blood curling screams of the innocent civilians being chewed to death.

However, only the ones who were innate into royalist could tame these wild creatures. Using seven ancient items known as the Millennium Items, they imprisoned the monsters in stone tablets and used their powers to have these monsters do battle for them. Most of the pharaohs who used this power would compete with others in deadly games known as “The Shadow Games”. These shadow games eventually led to a terrible war that threatened to destroy the entire world. Lives were destroyed, towns crumbled before the wicked, children ran in fear, and riches were stolen. It seemed that all of humanity would have been destroyed, and the human race would have been completely abolished.

Soon a young pharaoh took matters into his own hands. Using the power of the ancient artifacts; the Millennium Items, he locked the dark magic away within all seven of them. Upon doing so, his spirit was also locked away within one of the items called the Millennium Puzzle. There his spirit remained for five thousand years with his memories clouded from his transactions to justify righteousness in the world. And so the great war of five thousand years subsided and life returned to normal. However, there was another war; a more dangerous war that occurred even before the time of humans. Before humans ruled over the earth, the mighty dinosaurs held dominance over this strange new world.

Dinosaurs came in all shapes and sizes. Some were as tall as buildings, while others were as small as an apple. Dinosaurs fought to survive in this strange new world that they were born into. Some dinosaurs ate plants, while some eat meat. The meat eaters would usually eat the leaf eaters. It was a dog eat dog world as the herbivores did their best to survive from the carnivores. Some would try to avoid them, while others fought them head on. It wasn’t easy life at times as they knew at any moment a carnivore such as the Tyrannosaurs Rex would be waiting for them to attack. They carefully looked over their backs, constantly watching out for anything that moved. Sometimes carnivores would hide in the shadows and just wait for their poor unfortunate victims to show up. They’d just pleasure in eating away at their flesh and chew down on their bones.

However, legend has told of a special place where all herbivores lived in peace. A place where you could sleep at night, not worrying about a thing going on. A place where children could play without fear and embrace life to the fullest. This place was known as the Great Valley. A place where healthy vegetation would grow for the herbivores to eat. It was a place where carnivores have dared not entered. While it was a utopia of sorts, it wasn’t perfect. The dinosaurs have faced hard times before such as the water running dry or small bugs eating all of the green grass. While there have been a few incidents of carnivores entering the valley, nothing was to critical or essentially dangerous.

Other than the few problems, the valley was pretty peaceful. Besides the giant great walls that prevented the carnivores from finding their way in, the valley was also watched over by very wondrous creatures known as Alimons. These dinosaurs did the best they could to keep the valley safe from all intruders. The reason this pack of Alimons, known as the Rock Rangers protected the valley from danger was because they had been given rules that were past down from their ancestors. The alimons themselves were never allowed in the valley unless given special permission, so the dinosaurs of the valley are usually oblivious to their presents.

However, not all of the alimons followed this law that was given to them. A group of alimons have abandon their ancestors’ laws and try to declare total dominance over the valley. These alimons were known as the Darkarians. The complete opposites of the kind and heroic Rock Rangers. They were cruel, vicious, and they would kill anyone who would not follow their orders. It was an age old battle: light vs. dark, good vs. evil, alimon against alimon. It was a constant battle to fight for the valley.

It was a war that was almost an equal threat to that of the Shadow Games. Many lives were destroyed in the battle and many innocent creatures were hurt. However, the biggest threat of them all was the spirit of a deceased alimon known as Fire. He was the first alimon to go against the laws that were set by his ancestors. He was ruthless, menacing, and disrespectful to boot. His actions in the pack got so severe that Stone, the leader of the pack banished him from the valley. One day the ruthless Fire almost took the life of a close friend of the pack leader. There was only one option that Stone had to save his friend; kill. In an act of self defense, he killed the vicious fire. Because of his death, Fire’s mate known as Smoke brought fourth the Darkarians as an act of vengeance.

In the process, she also trained her son, Rorra to become a fierce alimon like his father. However, the spirit of Fire lived on. It appeared that Fire was born with a heart full of pure darkness. Upon his death, the great darkness from beneath the earth arose to the top and consumed Fire. His evil mind and the hatred in his heart was so powerful that his spirit managed to survive, and has wandered around the valley in search of vengeance. His evil powers were so powerful that it brought birth to the realm of eternal darkness known as the Shadow Realm.

The power of the shadows would trap the souls of poor unexpected victims. Inside, you could hear the anguished moans of the souls who are forced to wonder the shadow realm for all eternity. A few years have passed ever since Fire’s death and many rumors have been spreading around that the spirit of Fire still exist. Rorra, who was now the new leader of the Darkarians has sought out to find the truth about this. At the same time, he, along with his mercenaries have been coming up with plans to gain dominance over the valley.

Soon enough a great war between the Rock Rangers and the Darkarians occurred that could have decided the fate of the valley. At the last moment, a mysterious giant rock with crystals on it flew in from the sky and made a big impact on the planet earth. It created a powerful force that caused a catastrophic chain of events to occur. Also, upon its impact, the crystals scattered into many directions of the world and with some other world powers sealed away half of the dinosaur population, including: most of the dinosaurs of the Great Valley, the Darkarians, the Rock Rangers.

These dinosaurs were trapped away in the crystals, locked in portable prison for millions and millions of years, with their ages frozen in time. The rest of the dinosaurs were all killed by the coming of the ice age. The green grass was buried deep within the snow, leaving the leaf eaters in confusion about where the food was. They also couldn’t bare the extreme cold breeze, which practically froze them to death. One event led to another as the dinosaur population became less and less. Soon enough, the dinosaur race was extinct, never to be seen again...until the times of Egypt.

Five thousand years ago, a young pharaoh and his servants discovered these strange crystals hidden within dark caves. They displayed a beautiful glow of multicolors that left those who saw them awestricken. At the same time, the pharaoh and his six servants who each wielded a millennium item could sense a spirit locked away within these crystals. Invoking the power of the millennium items, they released the Rock Rangers and Darkarians from their slumber. Upon release, the dinosaurs were left in the most utter confusion of where they were.

The humans were also amazed by these strange multicolored creatures that appeared from within these crystals. The Darkarians immediately continued their assault on the Rock Rangers as they quickly attacked them by surprise. It would appear that the Rock Rangers were finally outmatched, but the young pharaoh proved that he was a king with a generous heart. Calling upon the power of the shadows, he chased the Darkarians away with shadow creatures from the dark. Rorra, their leader shouted vengeance upon the strange humans.

The humans took the Rock Rangers back to the pyramids of Egypt, where the Rock Rangers explained the story of the rivalry they shared with the Darkarians. They also explained about their job to protect the Great Valley. However, the pharaoh sadly explained that times have changed and this valley probably ceased to exist. The Rock Rangers were devastated by this fact, but they realized that the Darkarians were still out there and they decided to ally with the pharaoh to repay the selfless deed in saving them.

Meanwhile, the Darkarians were lost and confused about where they were or what they were suppose to do without a valley to take over. They soon met a Tomb Robber called Thief Bakura, who was after the Millennium Items for his own selfish purpose. As much as they didn’t want the help of a human, they would be lost in this new time without someone to show them around this world.

Allying themselves the Tomb Robber, they went on a journey to find Fire, who was also sealed in a crystal from the giant rock. Bakura had heard of Fire because the evil alimon was somehow able to use the power of the shadows to call out to someone to free him, even though he was sealed away in a crystal. Finally, Bakura was able to locate the crystal containing Fire and brought it back to Egypt. It appeared only the Millennium Items contained the power to release the seal on the crystals. Soon the Darkarians and the Tomb Robber, who established a large army invaded the pharaoh’s palace and an heated battle with monsters and warriors began.

The pharaoh, his servants, and the Rock Rangers fought a decisive battle to protect Egypt. Unfortunately, Bakura succeeded into tricking one of the wielders of the items called Seto to release Fire from his prison. In light of this act, the Pharaoh called upon his most powerful monsters to stop them. They were called the Egyptian God Monsters. Obelisk the Tormentor, Slifer the Sky Dragon, and the Wing Dragon of Ra. These powerful behemoths were so powerful that they could cause the whole earth shake and the sounds of their roars could be heard all the way from even the deepest parts of space.

However, even the mighty Egyptian Gods were unaware of Fire’s power. He had the ability to posses any living being and force them to do all sorts of things against their will. The evil spirit took control of the strongest Egyptian monster, the Winged Dragon of Ra and began to create a fire inferno that burnt most civilians to death. Even the combined power of Obelisk and Slifer could not stand up to him. Finally, the pharaoh called upon the power of all seven items and was able to extract the dangerous alimon out of the dragon. He then sealed Fire away in his millennium puzzle, who is now a prisoner of a dark labyrinth of the pharaoh’s memory.

He was locked inside a giant steal cage that he could not penetrate at all. A perfect place for a cold blooded killer to spend the rest of his life for all the wrongful sins he’s committed. Upon his action in using the full power of his puzzle, the Alimons’ spirits could not remain in this world because the items grew weak from using up too much power. So the dinosaur’s spirits automatically returned to their crystal prisons, where they too were locked away for thousands of years. As for the people of Egypt, not too long after the battle with the Darkarians, the great war of the shadows began. It was then that the pharaoh locked the dark magic away, imprisoning his spirit within the Millennium Puzzle. Thus, the Shadow Games have ended.

Five thousand years later, the millennium puzzle was found in a golden sarcophagus, scattered into many pieces. The pieces seemed to connect to one another as it could be solved like a jigsaw puzzle. However, the complexity of it made it look hard to solve. The man who found the millennium puzzle was a archaeologist known as Solomon Mutou. He studied this ancient item for years to learn of its secrets. Not once has he ever been successful in solving it. In his old age, he gave the puzzle to his grandson, a youthful, yet shy young man called Yugi. Young Yugi was always fascinated by games, so he eagerly wanted to solve this mysterious artifact. He spent days and nights in his room, carefully trying to figure out the structure and how it went together. Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months.

Yugi continued to slowly put pieces of the puzzle together. His heart beat rapidly with each piece het put together. He couldn’t stand the suspense. He wanted to finish the puzzle so badly. One night, his dream finally came true. One more piece was left to finish the triangular artifact. Only one more piece until he will achieve what many have failed to do. Taking the last piece of the puzzle, he put it together and finally completed it. Little did he know that when he solved it, his life changed forever. Moreover, a chain reaction was caused in doing so. The other six items that were scattered away reacted from the rebirth of the puzzle.

It released a unimaginable power that was so strong, it released energy beams that traveled all over the world of the present. With the power of the items fully restored, the beams shot into every single dinosaur spirit crystal that was scattered across the world. It was right there and then that the alimons were once again born into the world. This time, they reborn into a world unlike no other. The  Darkarians have returned into this brave new world. The first list on their agenda after returning was to find the spirit Fire. However, in order to find him, they’d need the help of an old friend to do so.

Three years have passed since Yugi solved the puzzle and for three years the Darkarians have went into hiding to plan their ultimate ploy to free Fire and rule over the world. Now, they were ready to put their plan into motion and strike when people least expected. Now the fate of the world rests on the shoulders on a young man, the spirit of an Egyptian king, and a young Apatosaurus. The shadow games have returned once again, and a card game that has taken the world by storm will serve as the battle for the war. The great war of yesteryear is about to begin again. It’s time to duel!

Nice opening chapter KK23!

I haven't gotten around to the 2nd chapter yet but it's a great start. I also have to commend you on the level of detail. You haven't just written the story just for fans of the Yu-Gi-Oh series. You've given major consideration for those who aren't too wised up on the workings of Yu-Gi-Oh battles/characters etc. as well (guys like me). The opening chapter was great. Nice intros and exciting end to it. I'll get around to the 2nd chapter when I get the time (hopefully this weekend).

Keep it up KK23! Great start! Looking forward to more! ;)

I don't see a chapter update. It's been, like, years since the third one was uploaded.
