I'm having some trouble signing onto MSN.  Even when my connection is working just fine it doesn't seem to want to connect.  o_O  When looked for help at the Windows Messenger website it said something about a firewall and adding the program to my allow list.  I shut off AVG, when to the security section of my control panel and shut that off too and it STILL didn't work.  I NEED HELP!  I can sign onto MSN through my sister's computer, I can use the crappy Web Messenger, but I can't use the fricken Windows Live messenger!

Yes.  I even tried restoring and running scans for spyware.  But then I realized that I needed to change the connections on Internet Explorer, which is a browser I NEVER use.

God, get msn messenger 8.5.  If you don't have that it's a good idea anyways.  The older ones are easier for hackers to gain access into your computer with.  To put msn messenger into your "allowed" list, go to the control panel, switch to classic view, and then double click windows firewall.  Go to the exceptions tab and see that "windows live messenger" is checked.  If it's not, check it.  If it's not in the list, you'll have to click "add program" and go into the program files and find the original exe that msn messenger comes with.  very simple...that is, if you don't have another firewall...
