LOL, if that's the case, I'm definitely not switching to Vienna in this computer's lifetime.

Bill Gates isn't CEO of Microsoft anymore, so you can't blame him. :P:

If you hate Microsoft so much, why not switch to Mac?

I might not be a Mac user, but I love their commercials.

Computers living with Vista:

"I've been error free for over a week."

"I've been error free for over a week."

"I've been error free for over a week."

ROTFLMAO

For the fun of it, this is my desktop background. It's resized, since my actual resolution is 1920x1200 pixels. I have a 24-inch LCD monitor(games look just gorgeous on it).

I've grown up with the taskbar on the bottom, so that's probably why I prefer it that way. Besides, I use the Auto-hide thing, so the taskbar slides down when I don't have the mouse pointer over it.

My taskbar is green. That is, by far, my favorite color, for obvious reasons(Nature-lover).

Edit: Ack, Photobucket killed it. Oh well.

Heehee, I never said you needed Vista. But one question: why is the taskbar on top?

I remember searching for the Vista theme for my XP laptop, but I couldn't find anything like it. Where did you find it?

Vista is a joke and if you can't see that you've either got a kickass computer that'll run anything or you don't do much with your computer.

*Shrugs* I'm just giving my side of the story, is all. I love Vista, and even a world full of haters isn't going to change my mind. If I ever get any problems, I'll dual-boot with XP. Simple.

Vienna just looks like Vista to me: I saw a screenshot on Wikipedia, and it looks pretty much the same(Windows Aero). Microsoft isn't going back to XP style, I can see that now.

Just sitting here at this forum, only 1% of my CPU is being used, with Vista Home Premium, and all 'special effects' on. 22% physical memory, but that's because I have an antivirus program always running, and those ate RAM even on my XP computer.

I know Vista is slower than XP, but this is a brand-new computer, and is way faster than my old laptop, so the difference is compensated by my comp's age.

The security features don't bother me. I like having to think a little before I click the "Continue" button, because I download a lot of things, and who knows if there is spyware or viruses lurking within? Besides that, I've gotten used to it. Let's face it, I have a lot of time on my hands. Too much, in fact. XD

Don't bash me because I love Vista: everyone's computer experiences are different. Some people will have truckloads of problems, others won't. I just got lucky with my HP computer.

Edit: According to Wikipedia, Vienna will be released in 2010. If that's true, I don't have anything to worry about. Usually Wikipedia refers to rumors if they're out there, but I don't see anything regarding Windows dumping Vista.

General Land Before Time / LBT Sequals removed from shelves?
« on: May 31, 2008, 06:38:37 PM »
Well, this bites to the max. I went to town with my dad today, and checked Fred Meyer. All that was there was the first movie(only two copies), and DVDs featuring episodes from the series.

The thing is, my long-term memory is much better than my short-term memory, ironically. So, when I thought I'd seen the 9-disc set recently, it was probably in reality more like several years ago. However, I would think at least that the 13th film would have been there. But, no sign of it. It was released last year, wasn't it?

I can't find the 9-disc set anywhere. Not on Amazon, not on Ebay, my two favorite places to get hard-to-find items. Dang it, man!

I guess I'll have to get them one or two at a time on Ebay. It'll cost more, but I want those DVDs. I probably spend much more money at Starbucks every year than I do on DVDs in the same amount of time.

It's either that, or wait for the 14th film and hope Universal releases two 7-disc sets. But why wait? XD  That's my buying philosophy: if you can get it now, get it NOW!
I have a sign on the outside of my bedroom door that reads: "Of course I need it today. If I wanted it tomorrow, I'd order it tomorrow!" That pretty much sums up my personality. My dad is the same way.

But right now I need some sleep. I'm nocturnal, and I didn't get much Zzz's this morning before I took off to Astoria. *Snore*

Am I the only person on Mother Earth who loves Vista? I do more than just log on and check email every day. I play games, both online and for the PC, even games that supposedly don't work with Vista. I've got 3 gigabytes of RAM, a reasonable graphics card, and everything runs smoothly. I love the transparency, and the customization options. I've never experienced a system crash, and any errors have been caused by me doing something stupid.  :P:

I even created a custom userbar for myself:

I usually put text below that image, saying "Vista lovers: the few and far between." Indeed, I've only met one other Vista lover on the Web, and I've seen loads of people.

Is Microsoft seriously going to put Vista in the trashbin? That would suck for me, since my desktop is less than two months old. I'd hate to have to switch OS's already. Even if they do abandon it, who says their next OS will be any better? Although, I've loved Windows for as long as there has been a computer in my home. Since the early 90's. I'm NEVER switching to a Mac. I'm a gamer, and many games never see releases for the Mac...

Why can't Microsoft just work on improving Vista? Are they too humiliated by the widespread hatred of their new OS? XDD

1988 Theatrical Release / Tell Your Story About LBT
« on: May 31, 2008, 04:48:30 AM »
On the subject of mothers, mine died when I was two years old of complications from diabetes, so I never really knew her. Any animated sequence that features a mother, either in life or death, stirs emotions in me. When I was young, I never thought about her much, but as I've gotten older, I've sensed a void deep inside. My dad ended up marrying my mother's sister, so at least I had someone related to raise me, and who is still around. But yes, I do feel something is missing, that will never be filled. I have depression, so things have more of an emotional impact on me(I first started showing signs of it in 1996, and I'd never been more emotional than I have since then).  However, I'm also emotional in happiness, so joyful things can make me cry as much as sad things. :)  I have a rough exterior though, so I hate for anyone to see me cry.

I worship Mother Nature, and now when I think about it, that might be because of the loss of my mother. Perhaps on a subconscious level, I see Nature as my mother. But I'm just rambling now...

-----------------------

In 1989, I was six years old. Loved dinosaurs. Was absolutely nuts about them(still am, heehee--I became obsessed with JP when I saw it in the summer of 1993).  My folks ended up renting LBT, and I fell in love with it. It just became my favorite movie ever. I must have watched it at least three times, all in one day.

In hindsight, I don't know why I never got the video. Some years later, I heard of a LBT II, and became excited. But nothing came of that. I must have had a short memory span back then too, because I never looked further into it.

Sometime in the 2000's, I watched the original on Cartoon Network, and it took me back to my childhood. I remember wanting the soundtrack, since I was just getting into film soundtracks back then. I still want that soundtrack...

Then I dropped the subject AGAIN. How it kept flying from my memory, I'll never know.

I joined this place in 2004, but never really came here for LBT discussion. Now that I've read a few threads, made a few posts, I want to change that. I want to find the sequels on DVD, and especially the original(if need be, I'll buy it again if ever a Special Edition is released). Something has been reawakened in my soul, a feeling I thought I'd lost, and this time I'm going to capture it, and hold onto it.

Oh boy...coming back here, and browsing all the threads just makes me want to get back into LBT again. I remember seeing packaged sets of all the sequels at Fred Meyer some months ago. I wonder if those are still there? I never considered buying the sequels until I read all this stuff. There's thirteen films in all? Buying them one by one would take forever. I hope they still have the sets.

I know what I'm doing tomorrow! XD

Starday Wishes / Happy Birthday InlÈ-rah

Holy crap. According to my profile, I joined in December of 2004. So I was probably last here sometime in 2005. I can't even remember why I left to begin with. Probably had something to do with me being a forum-hopper. I have a big list of forums in my Favorites. Chances are, there's some forum out there I've long forgotten, and it isn't in the list.

I wish my memory wasn't so bad.  :P:

Ten years? That's awesome.

I've gone through three addresses on Hotmail(now referred to as Windows Live Mail): the first was gremlinsfreak(since I love the Gremlins movies). The second was ilovepeafowl, since I own three of the gorgeous birds now(I had two birds at that time). Then I switched to inle_rah. This was all in the span of about four years, from 2000 to 2004. Inle_rah is the longest-lived email name I've had thus far.

Although, I also have a Gmail address, too, and one for Neopets Premium. Then there's my Yahoo addresses, that I never use.  :P:

I'm sort of an email junkie. I tend to get addresses to use for random things, then let them become inactive when they get inundated with spam. I've kept my Gmail address restricted to all but close friends and reputable companies, so I've managed to avoid the onslaught. XD

Hurrah for warm fuzzy feelings!  :D

I love my email address, even though I get a lot of spam email(not as much as some people though, I'm sure). I'm reluctant to get a new one, simply because of the 'inle_rah' in it. I'm rather attached to it, as I've had it since I became a WD fan four years ago. ^_^

Wait, it's been how long since I was last here? Holy Frith!

Thank you very much, all of you. ^_^  I've developed an obsession for computer games, particularly artificial life and animal games. Thus, I've spent a lot of my time on other forums, particularly ones related to the A-life games of the Creatures series: http://www.gamewaredevelopment.co.uk/creatures_index.php

Of course, I made a Creatures fan site: http://aithaluna.webs.com

So in a nutshell, that's what I've been up to. When I'm busy with other obsessions, time goes by so much faster than I can keep track!

Out of nowhere, InlÈ-rah hops in.  Upon seeing the situation, her green eyes peer around nervously.  Slowly backing away, she says, "I think I came in late again..."

Unfinished RP's / A Song in the Forest
« on: January 15, 2005, 06:22:03 PM »
The squirrel's words comforted InlÈ-rah slightly, but she was still puzzled.  She sat hunched under the briars, her ears laid over her back as she pondered, until the buck hopped over to her, and with a nose rub and sniff, told her his name, and inquired of hers.

"I'm InlÈ-rah, named for the moon and nightfall" she replied with a smile.  "You can see how I got this name", she continued, running a paw over her silvery stripe which had been likened to the moon's silver gray hue, and her ebony fur.  "I've wandered for a long time, wishing to start a warren of my own."  What she didn't say was that she was a messenger of the lapine Lord Frith, and that she posessed special abilities which ordinary rabbits lacked, aiding her in her missions to help distressed members of her species.

InlÈ looked warily up at the wolf, but asked politely, "Who might you be?"

Unfinished RP's / A Song in the Forest
« on: January 14, 2005, 04:41:26 PM »
A large, black rabbit, InlÈ-rah, hopped peacefully over the dry leaves, beneath the forest underbrush.  Having no warren of her own, she was a wanderer, inclined to helping others whom she met along her travels.  Now and again she would pause and sniff the air, then continue hopping along.  She came to the edge of a forest clearing, where the sun shone down on her glossy black fur and seemed to ignite the shimmering silver stripe which started between her bright green eyes and ended behind her ears.  She stood up to her full height, which was almost equal to a hare.  Despite her size, she still retained the graceful and softer features of a typical doe, without any of a buck's stockiness.

Suddenly InlÈ heard a sound right beside her, and she startled.  Looking to her right, she saw that the sound had been caused by a dropping stick.  She sniffed the air again, and this time caught the scent of another rabbit, a buck.  Following the scent, she stopped suddenly, amazed at what she saw.  The buck had met up with a squirrel who, seemingly oblivious and calm, was sitting dangerously close to a wolf.  What was strange was that the wolf seemed to be carrying on a conversation with the herbivores.

A trick perhaps? thought InlÈ.  Being a rabbit, she was familiar with tricks, and knew that carnivores often played them as well on their unsuspecting prey.  She kept her distance and watched, incredulous, from under the shelter of a briar patch.

Character Profiles / Character info?
« on: December 31, 2004, 08:45:25 AM »
Okies, I might as well do one  :)

Name: InlÈ-rah

Species: Domestic rabbit(thus descended from the European Rabbit)

Gender: Female

Appearance: Jet black with a stripe of silver between her ears, and bright green eyes.  She is very large, and as such could rival General Woundwort.

Background: Once domesticated, but released by her former owner.  Her name is Lapine for "moon" when literally translated.  She is kind and very mysterious, and is thought to be a messenger of Frith like El-ahrairah.  Her personality can be best described as a combination of Hazel, Hyzenthlay, and Bigwig(she has Hazel's leadership qualities, Hyzenthlay's politeness and friendliness, with a touch of Bigwig's belligerence.  She always loves a good fight :P:
She lives alone in a network of burrows she dug herself, and is hoping to start her own warren.
