Title: Yes
Post by: Ratiasu on August 23, 2006, 08:52:38 PM
First I must start by saying that I'm not a huge fan of the Land Before Time franchise. I thought the original movie was a bit too fast-paced, and most of the sequels were flat, dry, and rather childish. But that's not to say I don't have my favorite moments, songs, and characters. So I might as well start by listing them.

Favorite Characters:
The Rainbowfaces from the Stone of Cold Fire, Sierra, Rinkus, Pterano, and Ducky. As you can see I rather liked movie #7. Now, as to why...
I liked the Rainbowfaces because we know absolutely nothing about them. Currently I'm writing a fan fiction with them as the main characters. Any ideas, however, would be appreciated - my dad suggested it not be a LBT fiction, and for it to be sort of an alternate world where the dinosaurs didn't die out, and it interests me, but then that kind of ruins the Rainbowfaces...being the Rainbowfaces. In any case, the two expressed opposing personalities (the female Rainbowface is a strict rule-enforcer, hates to break the rules, is skeptical, and likes to explain things and express her knowledge, whereas the male is considerate of other's well being to the point where he would break a law to help someone in need, easily excited, creative, perceptive, and encouraging).

The Pterosaurs. Wow. I'll need to watch the movie again (haven't seen it in about a year), but I think Pterano's song told a whole lot about all three of them. Sierra was headstrong and disobedient from the start, but then is when we really realize that he has no qualms about . I'm currently completely blanking out on the movie at the moment. >_< But yeah. Rinkus. The bumbling, easily confused flyer who has a much darker, craftier side...

And, erm, Ducky. Well I have to like one of the main characters, don't I? I don't really know why I like her, to be honest. She's just cute and brave and cool. Cera's a close runner-up, though.

Favorite Songs: not in order
"Kids Like Us"
"Lone Dinosaur"
"Very Important Creature"
"Eggs"

Okay. Now that we got that over with...um...hi?

It's not a bother. I'm sure I'll stick around for a while. The problem is that I have Asperger's Syndrome, so any sort of social activity - even virtual kinds - is a bit leery to me...I'm really shy, to the point where I have to get a tutor to teach me how to interact with people.

LBT 7 was quite an interesting movie.  I haven't watched it for quite some time, myself, perhaps 3 or 4 months ago was the last time I watched it.  I enjoyed it, but not as much as some of the other sequels.  I find I can't watch it as often as some of the others.

Very Important Creature was one of the more 'necessary' songs, I felt, in the series.  It discussed the characters' details, especially Pterano's, that would have not otherwise been exposed.

:D  Cera is probably my favorite overall, but I didn't really like how she changed after LBT 4.  I used to love her threehornish ways, her quirks (saying "Heeee!" at something she was excited or bashful about, for example).  As of LBT 5, she has become a bit more snobby, it seems, and a little less likeable as a character.  I miss our old Cera. :P:

...

Well, 'goodie' meaning just the fact that I found someone else who has it, not that you have Asperger's.

Oh, and action9000, thank you for replying to my topic, too. Wow, suddenly this place seemed to spice up with activity! In any case, I agree with you, on A Very Important Creature being a nessisary song. And from what I remember, yeah, Cera's character does change a little bit. Which is kind of sad. Oh, and I already looked at your site. And downloaded the tribal version of Always There...and the midi of Lone Dinosaur - I quite liked that.

You wrote that song in two hours? Jeez, that's pretty good. I mean, I know I'll never be able to do something like that, especially at two in the morning. Do you plan on doing a MIDI for any other of the Land Before Time songs?

Oh! And the vulture thing is understandable. I'm guilty of doing that myself - I'm usually nervous of making new topics, so I usually wait until someone posts something to go and reply.

Actually, I wrote it at 2 AM, in about 1/2 hour. :lol  but it actually wasn't that much work.  If you saw the source data for it, it isn't all that complex.  But LoL thank you for the compliment!  I shall keep working on LBT music in the future!

You bet! B)

So far I've done:
Adventuring
Always There
Bestest Friends
Lone Dinosaur
No One Has To Be Alone
Peaceful Valley

I plan to eventually make MIDIs of all the LBT songs, though this will be a long time before it happens.  I work on my MIDIs very carefully, by ear, all manually.  It takes a lot of time to do well.

The great things about MIDIs is that they're easy to share, and they contain ALL of the data needed to play the song.  A MIDI can be opened up in any MIDI editing program, and all of its contents can be viewed.  A person can then print the MIDI file as sheet music, and learn to play the song at home. Download Noteworthy Player Viewer from this site if you ever want to see the sheet music of MIDI files.  Just load the MIDI into this program and BAM!  It's all there. B)

Welcome with the Gang of Five!  :)
It sure is great to read an introduction message which actually introduces somebody  :yes
The song "Very important Creature" was perhaps the most informative song in the whole series and a really interesting description of Pterano's, but also of Rinkus' and Sierra's personalities.
As for myself, I like LBT 7 generally, but I would have prefered a different kind of departure for the Rainbowfaces. That column of light and everything too much enforced the idea of them being aliens from outer space. It might have been better not to give that decesive clue.
I've heard of quite a couple of LBT fans already who have Aspergers. Several more can be found at the network54 land before time forum too.

I agree with you, Nick - since the people on the Internet don't have to talk face-to-face, it's a lot easier to be more open. I've always had trouble reading non-verbal ques and interpreting facial expressions.

Heh, yeah, I've cut off a lot of conversations for doing the wrong thing in reponse to someone. I have always demonstrated bird-like tendencies (walking on my toes, jerking my head suddenly, turning my head to the side to look at somoene), so I guess I kind of unnerve people. Not that I mind - I don't have much of a drive to be social.

What has allowed me to compensate for my anti-social tendencies is my intelligence. Asperger's is a disease where the person has high cognitive ability but limited or retarded social interaction.   As I have matured I have become sloghtly more comforytable in social situations, but I am still more comfortable being by myself...

Yep, I'm aware of that. Same deal with me. Recently me and my dad went to New York to get my brain scanned, and it turned out my brain had the Ring of Fire makeup - it was overracting and hyper sensitive. My dad says I'm a fantastic writer, but I fail most of the time in Math and History. I'm not quite sure how high, average, or below is intelligence is from the norm, though.

I'm a a good writer, and oustanding in history. I'm ok at math. As for Intelliegence, I'm  well above average. I've never had my brain scanned, but I did get my intelligence tested. Verbally I score in the 99th percentile (I am vEry good at expressing myself verbally),  although when I write stuff down, its not as good as when I verbally express it...

I'm pretty much the opposite - I can express myself in writing, but I can never find the correct verbally words...well, my dad says I'm getting better, but at the moment I can't think of any direct examples...

What we can agree on is that our brains are 'wired' differently than 'normal brains. my Asperger's (which is defined as Pervasine Developmental Disorder or PDD) derives in part to due with my prematurity. I was born 4 months premature and weighed 1.5 pounds, and my body had not fully developed. I am very lucky to be in as good a position as I am now, It would be a lot more difficult for me, if I was merely average in intelligence...

I was born prematurely, too. Five months premature. I don't know how big I was, but I only weighed one pound, 11 ounces, and...I looked like a fish somewhat; I didn't have any ears, I was bright crimson, and I had webbed fingers. But I do have scars from when they hooked me up to this machine that aided me in breathing but blew up a lot of my alveoli...which I don't really mind, but I have a much lower lung capacity then normal people, which becomes troublesome during a class in physical education.

You were born 5 months premature?!? That must be some sort of record! If you had been born today you wouldn't have had to suffer the loss of liung capacity that you did. Consider that even at 4 months gestation, you still outweighed me by 3 ounces. As for breathing you should try to do things that can increase your lung capacity. Running, for example. Start with short jogs, and gradually lengthen them. Don't overdo it. If you begin to feel very tired then stop and rest...

I don't know if that was a record, but I was supposed to be born in June and I was born in February. Oh, and about the exercise thing, my dad is doing everything in his power to get me off of the computer. Occasionally I go 15 minutes on an elliptical trainer or walk down to the library or something. Not much, but I guess it helps. Oh, and thank you for the advice.

Yes, Computers can be addicting but you need exercise... If you like basketball(like I do) get a basketball and a hoop and start shooting shots. It helps with your reflexes and hand-eye coordination.  if you like sports that is... And February to June is 4 months, not 5, that would be July... 2 to 6...

Oh, sorry about the month confusion. I'm not quite awake yet - it's pretty early where I live. There aren't any sports I enjoy, I'm afraid, so basketball is out of the question.

If you don't like sports.. then make one up... Combine two different sports , like soccer and tennis.  You take a soccer ball, and try to kick it over a tennis net, using the rules of tennis. As long as you get exercuse.. and you had to have been 4 months premature because there is no way you could weigh more than I did at 5 months at 4 months. 4 months olds weigh less than a pound, a pound max. Sorry another of my tendencies is I tend to Obsess about things... :P:

Thank you. You're a good guy, too. Easy to talk too. In any case, it takes some time to think up a plot, situation, and character for a role-play. Granted, I do have a favorite role-play character who has weirdly been stalked by 12 random females in the three-month time span I've been role-playing him as, but it's a bit hard to think up something I haven't done before with him and I want to do something different here if I RP him. So far I've RPed him in a "Lost" (as in the TV show on ABC) RP, a PokÈmon RP (he was mauled three times in two hours and got the medical center in his base burned down to the ground in the same day, so life isn't great for him there), a role-play site where New York is infested with vampires, werewolves, deities and demons, and...hmm. Well I think that's it. He wouldn't fit in, say, a dinosaur role-play unless he time-traveled or something, but that wouldn't make much sense because he's not interested in the past.

I understand. I originally created him with the intention of role-playing him on a "Lost" RP site, but he's really flexible, considering the fact that most role-play sites I go onto allow human beings. In any case, I'll try to think of something. My creative juices have been slowing quite a bit.

I understand about how it takes time for the "juices' to start following, and sometimes all you need is someone else playing along with. It becomes give and take,  and if the other person thinks that things are going too far, he or she will make a comment on it. Then you respond by tweaking your previous post in a way that brings things back "in bounds as it were."

Ok this is really wierd because, I basically have the same problem as all you guys  I've never heard of Asperger's before, but I have terrible social problems. I hate it! :bang  I'm also seeing a counselor for it.

Wierd, I wonder if Land Before Time is actually some kind of special liking that people have with social problems! Like something about the series spawns off of this problem, creating some kind of diversion for the mind! Probably not, but sounds interesting :lol

But uuhh anyway, welcome! :D I think I'm a little late but, meh :P:
Whoa, that is a bit weird. That might be true, that people with social...disabilities and other mental illnesses (my dad says that the people with mental illnesses are actually more advanced then the normal people, so it's kind of contradictory that we call it an illness)...hmm. Forgot where I was going with that. But you may just have extreme difficulty in social situations instead of Asperger's Syndrome, Littlefoot - there are certain characteristics people with AS have, like having narrow interests and such. And I don't mind you being late.

Hmmm, well I don't know, but it seems like everything you guys were pointing out applies to me as well! I'm not so sure about having narrow interests, but I know I don't like any kind of sport. In fact right when I wake up in the morning, I jump right on my computer and basically stay in my room most of the day. Except when I have to eat and stuff, you know  I know it's not healthy, but everything you could ever want just seems to be on a computer!

We DO have a pool, so I get out a little bit, but only in my backyard.

I don't think not having an interest in sports is an indication of AS. :\ But in any case, I do the same thing. Only when I'm at my mom's house she usually drags me away to do something as a bonding event, one thing per day. And I agree with you, about everything you could ever want being on the computer...well, for the most part. All I know is that when Will Wright's Spore comes out, the first creature I'm going to make is a Troodon. Either that or one of the many aliens I've cooked up in preperation for the release of the game.

Ah. I see. So...anything you, for whatever reason, want to ask me? Okay, so I only asked that because I didn't want to end this post at three words - that would be a bit pathetic.

The Funny thing is that unlike you guys I play sports, and i'm also  a diehard sports fan. I play tennis, basketall and i run as well. Helps to keep me in shape, and also allows me to think as I'm running. I like viedo games and using the computer as well(obviously or I wouldn't be writing this.... :D )

I don't really find that funny, but rather a postive thing.

I meant it to be positive.  Asperger's covers a wide range of people, everyone is different. Asperger's is a form of autism, a mild form, luckily. While we share narrow interests(and tend to overdevelop our abilities concerning those interests), We also have the ability to compensate to a large degree for our 'limitations".

That much is evident in me. I got on the Honor Roll during my first year in highschool once...so I guess I'm not a total flunk in all my classes...

I was an honor student throughout my high school years, and finished with a GPA of 3.96 in my final semester( my actual GPa was 3.3ish) In College I just missed the Dean's listed in my Junior year. I was  3 hundredths off(I needed a 3.75 average I got  3.72. Iwas bummed, because you get a letter congratulating you on making the list, and also you get your name in the paper...) Oh well, I got my degree in history and that's what matters... :)

I don't know much about GPA's, but I'm guessing what you got is above average. In any case, I don't care much about school. But I have this drive to do my homework, and it's like if I don't complete it the world will stop and explode, so I'm like a role-model student because no one else does their homework at all. Three of my teachers said I would be famous one day...but I don't like all the attention.

Yes.  A 3.3 tranlates ato a b+, which is above average. In fact it is in between 'above average' and 'excellent'. anyway at least you do yyour homework. do you have any friends? By that I mean, people that you know and hang around with? I didn't have many of them myself during high school, but there were a few...

Mm, I see. Oh, and I don't have any friends. Not a single one. But I have found a possible friend who enjoys drawing and manga like I do...not that I really need any. I have my online buddies as it is.

Seems we have a topic about Aspergers.  No, I do not have AS at all, but I do have to know and realize what Aspergers Syndrome is just going into the teaching field.

More like we have a topic about myself, the thoughts about what I originally typed (thoughts about LBT7 and stuff), the Lone Dinosaur MIDI action9000 made, Asperger's Syndrome, our experiences with Asperger's Syndrome, what we're good at in school, a mention of premature babies, a post that complains about how attractive one of my role-play characters apparently is to female characters, and what our hobbies are. Wow. Why is this topic so dang long?

Hey Ratiasu, do you have an MSN identity? Your profile just says "Your Conscious" which won't work out for an address. If you do have an identity and if you would like to chat with some LBT fans I would be one of the LBT fans who would like to chat with you :)
