This year was unusual in that there was only one "close race". Otherwise, those who won, won by a landslide in each category. A big thank you to my talliers, Kor and lbt-ctylover for keeping track of the polls. Congratulations to all winners and thank you for making the Gang of Five an enjoyable LBT community on the web! :D :D

I seem to have misplaced the join year banners for members. Malte, do you have them somewhere because I can't find them. :p

There was no Newby award this year. We decided to ax that award for three reasons. One of them is that the situation in which mostly long term members had a chance for an award doesn't exist anymore. More than a third of the active GOF members joined within the last year and it was clear before the vote even started that many of them would be credited for their awesome contributions to the GOF :yes
The second reason was that (same as in case of so many awards) it would be extremely difficult to decide for one of the many candidates for there are so many who deserve the recognition.
And finally the winner of last years Newby award disappeared and is not likely to reappear in the GOF anymore :unsure:
Therefore we decided to come up with a new award for long time active members who not just came to the GOF but also stayed. It will be issued to members who have been with the GOF for at least more than two years (which means that this year the awards for those who joined in 2004 and 2005 will be issued), who posted at least a hundred times, who posted within the last three months, and who were generally active on the GOF since they joined.

Huh...the awards won't show up...but then again..I'm still using dial-up on my computer...so that may be the only reason...man I wanna see the awards...

Have you tried reloading the page or saving the image you can't see so you can look at it on your computer or open another tab with the picture if you have firefox?

Photobucket.
You just go to your profile and click "edit signature". Then you just put the image url inside of your signature and enclose it with the [img] tags.

To the people having trouble getting their new award in their signature:
here's a procedure if you don't mind setting up/using a Photobucket account:
Right-click the image here and click "save picture as..."
Save it to your computer.
Go to Photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com) and set up an account if you don't have one.
Upload the image to Photobucket.
Copy the address which appears below your image in the "IMG Code" section on your Photobucket account.
Paste this link into your signature here on the GoF.
Done. B)
For those of you not willing to set up a Photobucket account:
Right-click the image here and click "Properties".
Copy the address of the image completely.
Edit your signature and click the IMG button.
Paste the address into the box that pops up.
Done. B)

Thanks so much everyone for your votes. Sorry I didn't thank ya'll earlier. My day has been really hectic and I've only been able to get onto GOF for periods of 2 minutes at a time.

You can use photobucket, but you don't have to. I already hosted the awards on my account to post them here in some threads and neither the account nor the awards will be going anywhere. So if you want to you can just use the url you will get when you rightclick on the awards where I already posted them. They are not going to be removed from that account.
So...when do we start voting for this year :unsure:?
I apologize for the delay. The fault for it is mine, and mine alone. Right now I'm so hooked up with the university work that I could create but only a very few drafts for awards so far.
I'm really sorry that it may yet take a bit, but don't worry, there WILL be an award voting. :oops
