I would really hate it if Ruby and Chomper became perminently part of the gang in say lbt 13 or 14 or some future sequal. What about you?
-
well if we complain about continuity errors now that'd wreak havoc wouldn't it?
-
Who says that Ruby and Chomper came to the great valley right after lbt 12? It could have happened years after. The tv series really doesn't go into a lot of detail. The only indication that we have of time is Trisha. It will take some time before she will grow noticably, perhaps several years. Since there is only going to be around 3 more sequals, why should they join up with the gang at all in the sequals? They should be exclusive to the tv series in my opinion.
-
Actually I think it would be best if they did show up in one of the sequels. And what makes you think there'll only be about 3 more sequels?
-
who says there'll only be 3 more sequels? nothing indicates that it's that much later either; it would seem unusual to put it too much farther in the future, and besides, I'd imagine we have no choice, they'll cash in on what characters they already have before they make new ones...
-
And what makes you think there'll only be about 3 more sequels?
I'm sorry but I can't tell you. I made a promise. I am incapable of providing further information. Sorry.
-
Okay, whatever.
-
Why would Ruby and Chomper being in the sequals be a good thing? What could they contribute to a longer story with less action? They may be good for those short action-packed stories but I don't think they would be so good in a sequal.
-
Simple: It might explain how they got to stay in the valley in the first place, and it might also explain where Chomper's parents are and such.
Chomper has contributed to 2 Land Before Time sequels. He would do just fine in a third. And I see no problem in putting Ruby in a sequel as well.
-
:Sigh:
You and I are complete opposites when it comes to our opinions on lbt. I cannot recall you ever agreeing with something I said. :lol
-
I just don't see a problem with having Ruby and Chomper appear in a sequel. It's not going to do any harm.
-
I just hate to see LBT turn out this way. These lbt sequals are different from other one's I have seen. They have both action and are meaningful. The tv series is just a bunch of action and they really lack substance. They are entertaining, but I just can't see Ruby and Chomper coming into a sequal and not making it nothing but action. I would not have a problem with them coming in so long as they made the sequal have as much meaning as previous one's.
-
Well Chomper appeared in 2 sequels, 2 and 5, and they weren't that bad.
-
I know. If it were just him I wouldn't be so worried.
-
And what makes you think there'll only be about 3 more sequels?

I just can't help but wonder, if you made a promise about something as secret as the future of LBT, why did you reveal to us that there will be only 3 more sequels?
-
I was told that I could share this information, but I was not allowed to tell how I came by it or who told me.
-
I know that there is a possiblilty that they will continue to make more sequals. According to my information, they need at least a little over 12 million dollars (about 12.3 to be exact) off these next three sequals and they are not optimistic about it. I also know that they have purchased the scrpts about three years ago otherwise number 12 would have been the last one. I also know that the scripts never had a confirmed name. That's all I know so far.
-
true. I really don't know if I would like it or not.
-
If there are any which there probbaly are it's most likely top scerect
-

Because the episodes are only 20-22 minutes long. That's not much time for a story. Ruby and Chomper aren't the reason the show is the way it is.
-
Ruby is just sort of an action character. I have no problem with chomper.
-
I have seen only four of the TV episodes so far, so I cannot give a competent judgement of the series as a whole. I do think that an explanaition for the presence of Chomper and Ruby in the Great Valley would be a good idea; I'm not convinced though that their showing up in the Great Valley should be the topic of a sequel. I am not sure if cementing the "Gang of Seven" as a replacement of the "Gang of Five" is a good idea. Already they had a problem to give each of the five maincharacters their share of the spotlight. It is a problem which I think will increase if the seven are to replace the five.

I do agree that the TV series episodes and the sequels are basically two different things. The last two sequels we have seen bear a deep similarity with the episdes I think.
I cannot agree to your point as to see the episodes of a mere bunch of action. Those episodes I have seen so far would not be done justice if described as "just a bunch of action lacking substance".
Ruby is just sort of an action character. I have no problem with chomper.
As I said I don't hope for the episodes characters to become part of the sequels, but from what I have seen so far it is kind of unfair to describe Ruby of all characters as a mere action character. She came accross as more sensitive and sensible than some of the other characters. What makes you think of her as a mere action character?
-
What makes you think of her as a mere action character?
I don't mean to offend anyone here, but I think that Ruby really is a character that's just there to be there. Ya know, to stir things up a bit.
If not to be so blunt, I would definently say that her character is incomplete. It just isn't the same as the others. It lacks substance (for lack of a better word). I definently don't like the idea of the "gang of seven" very much either. By substance I mean that it doesn't feel right. Ruby just doesn't seem to be an lbt character to me, at least not the way she's portraid in the tv series so far. She could be a very good lbt character if she had an entire personallity change.
She also seems much more childish to me than the others. It makes the others loose their little "Spark".
What I dislike the most about the series is that in mose episodes, there really is only one thing going on. One exception I can think of right off the bat is the big longneck test. In this episode, there were 2 things going on at once, littlefoot being tested, and shorty leading the others to the great stone walkover.
-
I think it would be nice to have Ruby appear in a sequel, maybe not as a character with a whole lot of screentime, but just one who's there for a while, maybe in the background, because it would be nice continuity if the writers acknowledged her presence in the valley.
Unless you count the TV series as an alternate reality. Then things get bizarre.
-
As much as I like the series, I don't like the idea of more sequels. It sounds like something Disney would do, sucking every last dollar out of an essentially dead series. I would like to see sequels, but only if they can make it well, and by the looks of it, it seems to be doing everything but.
-
Chomper is well established, so I wouldn't mind having him in a third sequel. What got my goat was the Brave LongNeck scheme. Ali finally reappears after 11 years, and is basically overshadowed by Rhette. Her role was little more than a cameo, which, after all those years of waiting, was a big disappointment. I do hope they bring her back into the series for a few more episodes..As for Ruby, she's smart and articulate, but she does take getting used to.. She's essentially Chomper's caregiver.
-
I believe that soon enough, ideas are going to run out and characters will reappear. Chomper was just the first. These sequels will have to have character returns.
-
It would be nice to see the detail how they got into the valley and how the adults go to accept Chomper being around. As for how many they'll make it likely depends on how long they continue to make a profit, which is likely depending on their having good writers doing good scripts, among other things.
-
My vote is "yes" on both questions. In fact, it would hardly make sense if they didn't appear eventually. I hope that LBT 14 (if and when) explains some things....
-
i would absolultely love to see more of Chomper and Ruby in the land before time it would be better to have them in new movis and series epsoids to explain more on the land before time.
-
They sould have at least one movie with Ruby in it. In fact she meets Chomper almost near the end of the movie. Lets say the movie is 75 min long, and Chomper comes in around 35 min before the movie ends?

Yeah, the story of sharpteeth, that somehow manage to scramble in to the Great Valley... Mayble, Chomper could accidentally let dangerous carnivorous to enter the Valley too. But he helped to chase it away later, and so has proven, that he can be trusted. :)

An excellent idea for a future sequel. :yes
