Character Discussion / Littlefoot's Mother
« on: January 24, 2009, 11:28:07 PM »
I don't think his mom was as racist as accepting of the dinosaur segregation. When she was talking to Littlefoot about how the different species didn't do anything together, I didn't find it as blatant racism. I thought she said in in a matter-of-fact way.

As for how much I like her...I love her! The only one I like more is Grandpa. We literally saw less than half an hour of Littlefoot's mom, but she won a place in my heart. She was so sweet, faithful and motherly. And like I have said so many times already, her death was the first movie scene I ever cried at. I find that pretty remarkable for a three-year-old.  :lol

Character Discussion / Gator Chain of Villains
« on: January 24, 2009, 11:17:34 PM »
I better explain this gator chain thing.

Gator chains are basically rankings for something, usually preferences. Let's take LBT characters. My 3 favorites are Grandpa, Littlefoot's mom, and Rinkus. So my chain would go like this:

Grandpa > Littlefoot's mom > Rinkus

Now, this board. I wanted to see what everyone thought of how qualified the villains from some of the first movies were. As in, how good of villains they were. I'm using the baddies from the first four and the seventh movies. I'm taking out the 5th and 6th movies because their villains were unnamed Sharpteeth. Here are the candidates:

-Sharptooth
-Ozzy and Strut
-Hyp, Nod and Mutt
-Ichy and Dil
-Rinkus and Sierra

And now, my chain! It would be nice if you guys could explain how you set up your chains.

Sharptooth >>>> Rinkus and Sierra >>> Ozzy and Strut > Ichy and Dil >> Hyp, Nod and Mutt

Sharptooth: He is tooooootally the best. He is pure dinosaur, menacing, determined, actually gave people nightmares, and has some serious Air Jordans!  :p He also has absolutely no humor to him. Pure terror. Claws down the best LBT villain.

Rinkus and Sierra: I didn't put them second because they're my favorite LBT baddies. I think Rinkus and Sierra make good villains! Their personalities contrasted greatly, yet they still managed to work together. They built up sinister qualities: deceptive (Rinkus), conniving, violence-induced (particularly Sierra), dark. I also found them some of the only bad guys that were a real threat.

Ozzy and Strut: It was a hard choice between them and Ichy and Dil, but I finally decided Ozzy and Strut were next. I picked them mainly because they do work together not just for benefit. Ozzy is very smart, and Strut made a good secondhand struthiomimus :p in the sense that he would carry out Ozzy's plans. Strut also occasionally offered violent means to get rid of the kids. Even though their personalities were polar opposite, they were still a team.

Ichy and Dil: Now, these two would be a threat too, if they weren't the most comical LBT villains (IMO)! The reason why I placed them below Ozzy and Strut is because they only work together for food. They don't actually get along with each other. But when they are out for food, they are quite competent. Their song is so witty, too.

Hyp, Nod and Mutt: Seriously, they're not really villains at all. Just big, cowardly bullies. I like Hyp though.

Oh, so someone else thinks Rinkus and Sierra are the most qualified villains next to Sharptooth! Sharptooth is definitely the best villain in the sense of being a villain. But I always thought Rinkus and Sierra were awesome. One reason why is because I thought they put more of an edge into the movie. The seventh movie was around the time I thought the movies started getting kinda kiddie and preachy, so Rinkus and Sierra did well with making the movie a little more sinister.

"What about the other sharptooth in LBT5? The one that Chomper's parents fought?"

There was another sharptooth, wasn't there? I haven't seen the movie in such a long time, I forgot most of it.

Drake, I know Chomper's parents are hardly villains at all, but I didn't want the villain choice for the 5th movie to be that swimming sharptooth. Not enough of a bad guy if you ask me.

And Tiger, I agree with Rinkus and Sierra being the most sinister villains after Sharptooth. I found them the biggest threat. Ichy and Dil would be a threat, too, if they weren't pretty much the silliest LBT villains.

But Sharptooth beats everyone else in quality. He oozed the perfect villain--menacing, ruthless, pure dinosaur and almost unstoppable. I loved how he didn't talk. It made him scarier.

I've decided you can pick two, because it can be hard to just choose one.

I'm pairing up the characters with who they allied with in the movies, so you can take "and" as "or" if you only like one of them. Personally, my favorites are Rinkus and Sierra. :D

Oh, and I can't recall any of the villains past the seventh movie. If you like someone not in the poll, just pick "other."

Character Discussion / The Rainbow Faces

I'm pretty sure that rainbowface was a regular dino, too, Kor.

And a little more about my views (aka love) for the ones in the 7th movie. I was quite happy that Littlefoot didn't have a total breakdown after they disappeared. As someone on YouTube said, "If I saw two people mysteriously disappear I would be like <3 =D"

I agreed with them. I thought that comment was so funny.  :DD

Aww, thanks for all the nice replies.

Friendly Sharptooth, I get the feeling I've heard that before, but where? :p
I've got a pretty bizarre sense of humor, don't worry about it.

Malte279, I plan on a pure LBT fanfiction. I'm not too fond of crossover fanfictions, unless it's a joke story (making fun of cliche'd stories) or if there are just elements of something else, not the "something else's" characters or settings. For example, I once wrote an Animal Crossing fanfic where the main characters were all obsessed with the Warriors series, so they started their own Clan in a summer camp. But I didn't put in any characters from the books.

I'm glad some people are eager to read my LBT fanfic! I have three fanfictions going at the moment, so it will certainly be a long time before I can start up the LBT one. However, one of my current fanfictions is a joke fanfic that's 25% effort, so I don't really consider it much of a fanfic at all! :lol

And RFZT is an abbreviation. When I was in 5th grade (so, five years ago) I absolutely hated my real name. And despite what ANYONE on the Internet says, it's not Ivy or Charley. Those are just my favorite girls' names. Anyway, I hated my name so much in 5th grade, I started telling people to call me either Raven or Freya, because those were the girls' names I liked best back then. Then I added Zoner. And then Bowdie. It ended up as RFZB when abbreviated.
However, I soon dropped Bowdie because I had terrible enunciation skills back then and everyone would be like "AHAHAHAH BOGEY!!" so I changed it to Terra. Thus, RFZT.

Character Discussion / Rinkus, Sierra, or Pterano?
« on: January 19, 2009, 01:10:38 AM »
Nice insight, The Friendly Sharptooth! I appreciate the depth in your reply.

I'm not sure which type of dinosaur is my favorite in LBT. Outside LBT I like velociraptors and pteranadons best, but in the series I'm between the longnecks and the flyers. I love the longnecks because they are so fair and caring, but at the same time I think the flyers are so awesome. I guess they're tied with me.

But the seventh movie isn't my favorite. It's my fourth favorite. And I wasn't annoyed by that last paragraph. I liked your thoughtfulness. This is my preference on the movies:

1 > 3 > 4 > 7 >> 5 > 2 > 6 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> All the others and the TV show. I've given all those a chance, but I can hardly stand them. But Chomper and Ruby are pretty cool.

EDIT: Adding on to what you said about Pterano's way of fighting for "the greater good." That's what I mean when I say he's like an antihero. Others may have seen him as a bad guy, but he was actually one of the good guys. He was just on a different side.

Man, I love antiheroes. B)

Character Discussion / Rinkus, Sierra, or Pterano?
« on: January 18, 2009, 08:05:41 PM »
I bet Pterano will win by a landslide, but let's do this anyway.

I know Pterano isn't really an antagonist; he's more of an antihero. But just saying which of the flyers is your favorite would have included Petrie, Guido, Petrie's mom and Ichy. And Pterano acted slightly villainish in the beginning. Slightly.

Anyway, on to the poll. Pterano is cool, and I LOVE Sierra, but Rinkus is my favorite! He is silly, and he seems like nothing more than a comedy-relief crony, but he is actually a lot more clever than that. I love many deceptive characters.

Sierra is cool too, simply because he's so evil! I thought he and Rinkus made a good duo. Sierra was the force and the brashness, while Rinkus was the brains and the one holding Sierra back. :p

Pterano is cool...but I remember not liking him when I was younger because he was so full of himself. Now that I'm older I like him fair enough, and I appreciate his depth as a character. I now know also that his "full of himself" was more like self-righteousness.
I think one reason why Pterano is so popular in the LBT franchise is because he's realistic. At least, more realistic than many of the other characters. He is pompous, somewhat deceptive and arrogant, but he also thinks he's doing the right thing. He was one of the more developed characters in LBT.

I did like the voice actors they chose for those to.  I think the voices fit very well.
They DID have good voice actors! I thought they were the perfect choices, in fact.

The whole trio was brilliant: Michael York, Rob Paulsen and Jim Cummings. Astounding. :D

1988 Theatrical Release / Does LBT make you cry?
« on: January 18, 2009, 07:35:53 PM »
Just listening to the soundtrack makes me cry.

I'm a complete mess every time I watch this movie, and I'm 15. When Littlefoot's mom died, that was the first movie scene ever to make me cry. I was three.

It's impossible for me not to cry when I watch the original Land Before Time. Sometimes I even get a little scared, and there's only ONE scene in ALL the sequels that makes me scared. More on that later.

The original LBT is a moving, serious film. It looks like it's for kids because it's an animated movie about dinosaurs, but I almost find it more for adults, because they understand so much more. Then again, aren't all Bluth's films like that? Anyway. There are so many touching and moving moments, I just can't help but cry all the way through the movie starting from when Littlefoot's mom fights Sharptooth. After that, ANY reference to his mom makes me cry really, really, really, really, really,

Really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really hard. Like when Littlefoot talks to Rooter; and he communicates with his mom through the tree star; when Sharptooth stomps the tree star; and at the end when her spirit leads the way to the Great Valley, and so on. Heh. I was still crying even after Rooter was finished talking to Littlefoot. Then there's the scene with the flyers and the cherry, and I giggle in spite of myself. Then I start crying again. It literally takes me about ten minutes to stop.
Hey, do any of you think Rooter is Spike's dad? I think Rooter thought he lost Spike for good after the earthquake, and that's why he said what he said to Littlefoot.

Now, the ONLY scene in the sequels that scares me. It's in the seventh film, when Grandpa tells the kids about why Pterano was exiled. It scared me because those other dinosaurs trusted Pterano, and he ended up getting them all killed. I dunno, it just scares me.

*scrolls up* Yeesh. Will I EVER make a short post on thie forum?   :p

1988 Theatrical Release / The Original Soundtrack for LBT
« on: January 18, 2009, 07:17:49 PM »
I'm listening to it right now. HA.

I LOVE the score for the original movie. It's incredibly moving and VERY well done. Whatever sort of music is playing fits perfectly with whatever was going on at that moment. It had the ability to make you cry (Whispering Winds and Discovery of the Great Valley), it had the ability to make you smile, it had the ability to make you sit bolt upright in your seat and stay intent to the movie. Heck, I'm crying just LISTENING to Whispering Winds.

Also, the music is so gripping and well-done, it had me hooked even when I was like, three. Some of you may have seen me claiming to have cried when Littlefoot's mom died when I was three. Well...it's true. It was the first movie death, first movie ANYTHING that I ever cried at, and part of it was because of the music.

I also have always remembered the bit near the end, where Cera takes them all the wrong way and they have to save Petrie from the tar pit. The music was so intense and fitting to the situation, and that's why I've always remembered that bit, even though I've watched the second movie approximately 47543065823572 more times than the original.

Basically, Horner is a genius. Like someone else said, the only movie score I've listened to that rivals this is The Lion King.

The Welcome Center / Hello!
« on: January 18, 2009, 07:03:37 PM »
Hello, I'm RFZT, and I'm new to this website.

I better explain why I joined. I LOVE the first seven LBT movies, especially the original (of course) and the third, fourth and seventh. I decided I was a big enough fan to look for a fansite. I'm actually even listening to the track for the original right now, heh.

Unfortunately for me, there are so few fansites for LBT and I was getting pretty desperate, because I really wanted to join. But then I found a referral to "The Gang of Five" on a YouTube video, the clip for Pterano's song "Very Important Creature." I thought I should give the site a shot, and...I liked it.  :p

Actually, the biggest reason why I wanted to join a LBT site was because of writing. I LOVE literature, and fanfictions are my biggest odd job. I have a LBT fanfiction trilogy planned. It's about Rinkus and Sierra, who are TOTALLY my favorite villains in LBT.  B) I love Ozzy, Strut, Hyp, Ichy and Dil as well, but the flyers are on the top of my list. Anyway, I was going to try fanfiction.net, but I'm blocked from that site even though I'm 15 and have no blocks on my laptop...whenever I try to go to ff.net, ALL my Internet windows shut off for no reason. So I thought, maybe I should look for a LBT site to post my fanfic.
For those who are interested, I'm juggling fanfictions on other sites I go to, so the Rinkus and Sierra trilogy won't be started for a while.

And finally, my favorite LBT characters! My top 5 are all adults:

1. Grandpa  because he reminds me so much of my own grandfather
2. Littlefoot's mom...she's so hard NOT to like, and she was the first movie death I EVER cried at. I was three.
3. Rinkus! He seems lowly and dumb, but is actually very clever. He's also one of the silliest LBT villains, ranking high up there with Ichy and Dil
4. Sierra and the Rainbowfaces. Sierra is so...evil! I love his ruthlessness, uncaring and short-temper. Also, Jim Cummings. :D And the Rainbowfaces are so outcasted, open-minded and mysterious.
5. Grandma. I love her fair attitude and her overall sweet personality.

And my favorite kids to this day are Ali, Hyp and Chomper. I LOVE the old Littlefoot and Petrie, the ones from the original movie. I think their characters got butchered though.

Well, this is a long enough introductory post. I commend you if you got this far.  :lol

Character Discussion / Top 10 favourite Characters
« on: January 04, 2009, 09:27:42 PM »
I know who my top 5 are, but I don't have a set 10. 6 - 10 is basically in a draft form.

10. Ozzy and Strut: They JUST beat Ichy and Dil as of now. I like their contrasting personalities, and how determined Ozzy was. He was also quite witty when he sang. I like Strut more, however.

9. Hyp: Normally I don't like bullies, but I always like Hyp for some reason. I guess I liked how he was mean but obviously insecure, and then changed after he got into the Mysterious Beyond. I loved one of his final lines: "Because NOT sharing is for babies!" And also this line: "Flying rocks! AAAAAGH!"

8.Chomper: He is my favorite out of the Gang of 7, almost definitely. I loved Littlefoot and Petrie at first, but their characters started lacking for me after awhile. I am not quite sure why I like Chomper. One reason has to be because he's a sharptooth. :D I also like his personality.

7. Pterano: Undoubetedly a popular character, and the favored out of the flyer trio. When I was younger I didn't like Pterano because he was so arrogant and full of himself. (In fact, I remember watching the movie and actually thinking "I didn't like Pterano. I liked the other two.  :lol) But now that I'm older, I appreciate his depth as a character, and how he changed. Plus, I love antiheroes. They'e my favorite "type" of person in the world.

6. Ali:  My favorite kid in the series. I dunno, I like how sweet and innocent she is. I also love her song.

And now, my definite top five.

5. Grandma: I love her sweet, caring and fair personality.

4. Sierra and the Rainbowfaces: They ended up in a tie. Sierra I loved because he was so ruthless, uncaring and wouldn't mind some violence. He was also one of the only LBT villains I considered a real threat. The rainbowfaces are cool because they're outcasted, open-minded and mysterious.

3. Rinkus: I had a hard battle between him and my 2nd favorite. Rinkus and Sierra are claws down my favorite LBT villains. I love Rinkus because he appeared lowly and dumb, but was in reality clever and the puppetmaster of the flyer trio. He was also silly. "Then why are you hitting me?"  :lol

2. Littlefoot's mom: Who doesn't love her? She was so wise, caring and...well...she died! She died to save Littlefoot and Cera, and personally I think she has one of the most dramatic movie deaths of all time, what with the fight, the earthquake and her final words to Littlefoot. It's her death that I cry at the most in cinema history, even more than Mufasa from The Lion King.

Aaaaaaaaand noooooooooooow...my favorite character of all time!

GRANDPA! I love Grandpa Longneck the most because he reminds me of my own grandfather completely. I love my grandfather very much so this is why I love Grandpa.

Kor, a rainbowface was in "Invasion of the Tinysauruses." It kind of irked me, because even though the "rainbowfaces" are an actual dinosaur species (Gallimimus most likely), I thought it would have been better if the species had been restricted to the two rainbowfaces from the 7th movie. I think this way mainly because they were aliens, and when I first saw the Great Valley rainbowface I was like "LOL WUT?"

As for the ones from the 7th movie, I love them. They were so outcasted, open-minded and mysterious.

Character Discussion / Littlefoot's Grandparents
« on: January 04, 2009, 09:00:18 PM »
I agree with background characters helping out the fictional world and its growth as an environment. It makes the stories more believable.

Now...Littlefoot's grandparents...

8DDDDDDDDD

I LOVE them. They are some of my favorites, definitely. Grandpa is my favorite character of all time. He strongly reminds me of my own grandfather, right down from the voice to his personality. I love my grandfather so this is why I love Grandpa Longneck.

Grandma is great too! I love her sweet and fair personality. And it is always so nice to see them together, so devoted, and a lot more understanding than the other adults.

Character Discussion / Rinkus and Sierra
« on: January 04, 2009, 08:54:53 PM »
Finally, some love for these two!

I LOVE Rinkus and Sierra. They're two of my favorite characters and definitely my favorite LBT villains! I am fond of most of the early villains--Sharptooth, Ozzy and Strut, Hyp, Ichy and Dil--but Rinkus and Sierra are on the top of my list.

I haven't pinpointed exactly why yet...I love their personalities. Rinkus is my favorite out of the flyer trio (including Pterano). I love how he seems lowly and dumb, but is actually very clever. Some of his line are funny, too. "Then why are you hitting me?" LOL!

Sierra is awesome too. I usually don't like the characters who act like him, you know, ruthless, uncaring and violent. But I love Sierra and I'm not quite sure why.   I guess I love him because he is dark, and a threat. Most of the LBT baddies weren't much of a threat at all, save the sharpteeth. Ichy and Dil would have been a good threat, if they were't the most comical villains. XD I loved how Sierra was dangerous and you knew it.

And of course, how they work together. Sierra losing his temper so easily and Rinkus having to hold him back or turn into a comedy relief....hee hee.  :lol

Character Discussion / The Sharptooth = supernatural?
« on: January 04, 2009, 08:44:11 PM »
Actually, I have heard many people call Sharptooth supernatural. I don't consider him so, but I definitely find him the best villain in LBT, claws down.

I loved how they made him not talk. It intensified his malice and overall terrifying-ness. He was so versatile, too, and had incredible power. Chomper calls Red Claw the biggest and meanest sharptooth of all? Sharptooth was waaaaay meaner. Like noted, he had the crazy jumping abilities, and he was very fast, and he fought a fully-grown brontosaurus(?) and fell down cliffs and was STILL trying to get those kids. And once Red Claw got beaten by having fruit thrown at him.

Red Claw the scariest sharptooth, my foot.
