1988 Theatrical Release / Details you've noticed?
« on: June 17, 2014, 10:37:07 AM »
Towards the end of the film, when Littlefoot says "Cera!  You're back!" his mouth never actually moves.  It makes you wonder if it was dubbed in as part of the editing that took place...

The third and final set of scans:

That's it, and I hope you enjoyed have a browse through these!  It was great to finally track down this book again, and now I can finally have a go at making that tree star shortbread :p (provided I can translate it into a gluten-free recipe...)

When I was about 4 - 5, my absolute favourite book in my school's library was an activity book called "The Land Before Time: Littlefoot's Adventures".  Joining this forum jogged my memory about it, and I managed to track down a copy last week.  It arrived today, and I've scanned it for anyone here who wants to see it. :) It was published in 1989, and as far as I'm aware there don't seem to have been any re-releases after its original run.  Anyway, here is the book in a handy JPEG format for you all to enjoy!

(Please be warned, this thread will be particularly image-heavy!)

The front cover!

This next bit is a Photoshopped mock-up of what happens when you follow the instructions and hold the page up to the light:

And here's the other page:

This post doesn't seem to want to let me add any more images, so I'll post the rest in a separate post in this thread later. :)

General Land Before Time / LBT Merchandise That You Own

I don't have much yet (I'm still quite new to collecting memorabilia from this film) but I do have an old VHS copy - not the first edition, sadly! - and an old LBT activity book from around the time of the first film called "Littlefoot's Adventures", which I used to love as a child and recently bought after tracking down another copy.  I'm scanning that book now for archival purposes, and I can upload it later if anyone would like to see it! :)

"What, Littlefoot?  You didn't think I was a natural pink, did you?" *continues rubbing leaf pigment on herself*

1988 Theatrical Release / Outcut land before time scenes

I think I've found what may be a first edition VHS tape on Ebay.  The shipping to the UK is too much for me to be able to afford, but one of you might be able to get hold of it.  It's listed as "1989", which I'm pretty sure was the release year of the first edition, and I've contact the seller to ask about the runtime (no answer yet, but I should hopefully get one soon).  Anyway, if anyone wants to try their luck and bid on it, here's the URL! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=151258322003

Gamers Zone / Video game music

Ohh, I adore video game music!  It's hard to choose just one soundtrack, but three of my favourites are The Last of Us (particularly the main theme), Borderlands 2, and Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. :)

It might be that the publishers wanted the book to be a specific length, and if they were working to a tight deadline (if they wanted the release to tie in with the film release, for example) then the author/s might not have had the time to edit it to fit the rest in.  Either way, it's great to see this! :)

Hey raniwasacyborg, welcome to the GOF! I'm sure you'll have a great time here  :D So you're a collector? What would you say is your favourite item?
At the moment, it's a tie between my film reel of the first trailer of Shane Acker's "9", my Rock & Rule theatrical poster, and my The Plague Dogs theatrical poster.  I'm saving up for a Cool World animation cel, though, so this list may change soon! :p And thank you for the kind welcomes, everyone! :D And Malte, I mostly take commission work done in a comic book style.  I have an online gallery if anyone wants to take a look at some of my stuff: http://cyborgrani.tumblr.com/ (I'm thinking of drawing something from TLBT soon. :) Possibly Littlefoot's mother, as I've always loved her design!)

The Welcome Center / New here :)

I've just joined this forum, so I thought I'd come and say hi to everyone. :) I've been a fan of The Land Before Time ever since I first saw the original film on TV as a kid in the early 90s (I've never really seen the sequels) and my interest in it has been renewed more than ever after learning about the uncut version.  Sadly I don't recall ever seeing it even when I was little (I do remember always thinking how weird it was that Littlefoot's mother died from what seemed like relatively minor wounds, so I assume only the cut version was ever shown on English TV) but I'm determined to at least track down the alleged "semi-cut" first edition video.  Anything to do with the history of the film in general is also fascinating to me - I'm a bit of an animation history nerd - and I'll gladly geek out with anyone else here into the same stuff! :D

Aside from TLBT, I'm also very much into animation history in all its forms, and in video games and their history.  I'm an artist by trade, and I collect records, comics and animation memorabilia.  I'm also a cosplayer, and a birdkeeper. :) So hi, and I can't wait to get chatting with other fans!
