*Pounds head on desk*

First off, I love the Nickolodeon series. It truly is an awesome show. But dear God, what was M. Night Shyamalan thinking?! He really screwed the pooch on this one.

Granted the effects are pretty cool, probably even some of the best I've seen all year, but effects alone don't make a good movie. There was virtually no character development in this movie whatsoever. Unlike in the original series, the characters in this movie are vapid, dull, one dimensional, uninteresting and just far too serious. Aang is no longer playful or lighthearted, Sokka isn't funny or is the genius in Team Avatar, Katara isn't the voice of reason, Zuko is not the determined hothead he was in the original cartoon and Iroh doesn't even seem to care about Zuko. In fact, I didn't even feel anything from these characters.

This whole movie just feels so lifeless. The action scenes feel like they're trying to be epic but fail horribly at it, the moments in the movie that are supposed to be touching aren't. When I saw the episode where Aang finds Monk Gyatso's bones and enters the Avatar State, that  made me feel really bad for Aang. But in the movie, I felt nothing for him. I didn't even care.

It's sad. I was really looking forward to this movie. I wanted to like it. I truly did. If you want to read my review for this movie, it's posted on my DA journal.

I knew when I first saw the trailers that this movie was gonna be an epic fail.  From what I've read in the reviews, I was right.

I just watched the trailer.  They absolutely mutilated it!  None of the characters even looked remotely convincing and everything looked fake and cheap/cheesy.  I could tell that the actors sucked too.  That's why you can't feel anything.  Wow.  This is an example of how badly they can screw up a film based on a TV series. :bang

In fact, this is pretty much what they did to the Eragon movie.  Ya know, changing important scenes, leaving out so many key characters that it would be impossible to do a follow up, pissing off fans of the series, and so on.  The only difference was that the Eragon movie was actually better than this POS.  Not a whole lot better, but still better...

I actually thought the Eragon movie turned out all right.  Though that's mainly because I didn't have time to read any more than the first book.  I was hoping they would come out with more movies so I wouldn't have to, but to no avail.  But it was still okay.  But this thing is like a mutilated pile of crap.  There's no hope for it.  Not even adults and other people who never saw the actual cartoon would like it because it's done so poorly.

I have a question, is this movie actually better than that movie that's suppose to be based off the Dragon Ball anime?

Or is it just as bad? Or is it is worse? Which I hardly doubtly that it could be worse than that useless, no good piece of crap movie called "Dragonball Evolution"

I know I wont be seeing the movie based on a few things, one being that I'm not a big fan of the show, two, because that M fellow is doing it, I mean, don't get me wrong, i like his movies, well, Lady in the Water and Signs....but this one, ugh, the trailers made it look terrible, and they say trailers are suppose to make the movie look good.....

Hmmm, well I loved the cartoon series and this looks awesome. I love when they make a movie based off of a cartoon series, because it's always what I imagine when I watch a really cool animated show. "I wonder what this show would be like if they made a real movie out of it." If it sucks, it sucks. I don't care. My family wants to go see this, and my parents have never seen the cartoon series, so they won't be harshly judging it like people who watched the cartoon series will be.

Dude, Last Airbender is a masterpiece compared to Dragonball Evolution.

With Last Airbender, I could at least watch the whole thing without wanting to cut my eyes out and stick them in acid. DBE just made me so depressed after watching it. I don't think I've ever seen a worse movie than Dragonball Devolution. If you ask me, Devolution is to the 2000's what Manos: The Hands of Fate was to the 60's.

it looks to have none of the charm that the tv series had, and it will likely soon be forgotten by fans, who will remember only the tv series.
Winner of these:

As a resurrecting old time Avatar fan, I DESPISE the production of this movie.

I don't think I will tell people not to see it if they want to see it, but personally I refuse to see this film for many reasons. Why? Well...let's see...

-The acting in the trailers is laughably pathetic.
-Appa looks...weird...even for a six or...excuse me according to this movie an "eight" legged sky bison. :rolleyes
-NONE OF THE ACTORS LOOK LIKE THEIR CHARACTERS.

I've never really been a fan of the Nickelodeon cartoon of Avatar: The Last Airbender, but I've got to say that it looks pretty good from the trailers. Obviously, since I know nothing about the characters, what they look like or any of the back story to this series, I'd go and watch the movie as a completely impartial judge. Compared to that miserable dribble-fest that Dragonball Evolution was, this looks to be quite promising in comparison (but on second thought that's not saying much :p) Despite the fact that this is being directed by that mook who gave us that boredom enducing "Lady in the Water", the action and SFX looks pretty smart. I'll probably got out to see this.

The sad thing is that people who aren't familiar with the TV series are gonna watch this and they're gonna say "Gee, that must have been a lame TV show to spawn such a horrible movie."  This is an insult to a great cartoon show.

I have to admit, when I heard they were first making The Last Airbender movie, I was rather ecstatic... but after actually seeing the crappy trailers for the movie I wasn't too sure about the movie. Now they did have quite a while to make the movie... M.Night Shyamalan however not only butchered what could have been a truly epic movie, but he disgraced himself as a director!

Now being a long time fan of the series, I wanted to see this movie with an open mind. I knew there would be changes, including who played the main characters and what scenes would appear in the movie... but... nothing, NOTHING could prepare me for the crap storm that was the Last Airbender!

This horrid excuse for a movie had NO plot, no character development, annoying actors, and stiff dialog. The Special Effects were poorly done, the movie was complete waste of 3D potential, and add to that the story moved so darn fast that even fans of the series had to stop and ask themselves aloud "WTF?! Where are we?!" I mean seriously.... I place this movie just below... and that's BARELY Below.. the one worst movie of all time! (Said movie being the Super Mario.Bros Movie).

I am honestly, and truly enraged about how horrible this movie was... and I saw it a whole week ago, and I'm still trying to vent all my anger and frustration after seeing it. Every time I see a commercial for it on TV I seriously just start shaking with rage. Halfway through the movie I took off my 3D glasses and just watched the rest of the movie in 2D cause I just couldn't be bothered to keep those glasses on any longer... and of course ten minutes before the movie actually ended, I stood up, dropped my 3D glasses onto the theater floor and walked right out.

I remember reading a review right before I went to see this movie... and I have to admit I agree with the person who posted the review:
Quote
'I went to see a movie... AND I SAW A FUNERAL!!!'

So in short... for those of you who haven't seen it... save your money. Cause this movie... is just a 100 minute waste of your personal life!

If they did make another movie, why not a contine of Avatar: Sozen's Comet instead? I saw the trailer last night, :neutral , is all I can say. It looks, mmm... boring compared to the animated series.

You really had to resurrect discussion of this movie, Adder? Ugh. I still can't believe I paid money for this crap. I saw this on DVD at Wal-Mart and almost laughed, but didn't want to escorted to the door.
Yeah, Robert Zemeckis's Christmas Carol movie was a much better investment.
