I love them all, but the original, LBT X, and LBT XII are somewhat my favorites.
Land Before Time because it is the best! The original. You can't beat that.
--------------------
Land Before Time X because Littlefoot meets his father. He was one of the characters many fans wanted to see for a while.
--------------------
Land Before Time XII because this is one of the few that do not have Littlefoot as a central main character, unlike most of the others. It means to much repetition. It does the series good to draw away from the main character.
-
My votes:
The original (because it's just so awesome).
LBT 4 (I don't get to see many new longnecks).
LBT 7 (it added a certain amount of mystery to the series that's a constant reminder that the Great Valley can't possibly be on Earth as we are led to believe...)
LBT 10 (despite being home to one of the most biggest blunders in the series, if not THE biggest)
LBT 11 (kind of similar to LBT 7...)
-
Though it was difficult to pick just 5 I finally did.
The first one I choose since though darker and a different feel I like it quite a bit.
4 - since I liked Ali and the growth she and the others showed in the movie towards her.
5 - Since Chomper appears in it, silly reason perhaps.
6 - I liked Doc, also one of the very few who actually stands up to Cera's dad.
9 - I liked Mo the character.
If I could have changed my vote I"d have switched 7 for 9 after reading some of the other replies.
And I agree, I doubt the series is set on earth really, maybe another earth in another universe.

Once upon this same earth beneath the same sun... ;)
-
My top five were easy to choose, and here's why:
1 - It's the original you just can't beat the original!
4 - I enjoy the 'love' angle they introduced (I use the term love as loosely as possible as they are still children.)
7 - They came up with a villain who was RELATED to one of the main characters! Genius!
8 - It snowed for the first time in the valley EVER! Goofy reason I know, but I still like it.
10 - Bron...nuff said.... :lol
-
5. V
4. IX
3. VIII
2. X
1. The Land Before Time

LBT 7 (it added a certain amount of mystery to the series that's a constant reminder that the Great Valley can't possibly be on Earth as we are led to believe...)

It'd have to go (from most to least in the top 5):
LBT 1
LBT 5
LBT 10
LBT 9
LBT 4
The others are great too, but I just love these ones.
-
I noticed that LBT 12, a sequel that you give high praise to, is missing from that list. I guess you really don't think it's as good as you let out.
-
#12 would have to be #6 in my choice. The older sequels were of the highest quality in my opinion.
-
1) LBT1
2) LBT2
3) LBT3
4) LBT4
5) Don't really have a #5 :p
-
I like the first one, cause it¥s the original. I like the fifth, cause the kids meet chomper again, I like the eight one, don¥t know why, I like the tenths film very much: the story of chorty is very nice and I like the eleventh one, cause the little longnecks are so cute :^.^:
-
the story of chorty is very nice
Nice typo :P: :lol
-
I don't think English is his first language, mistakes are allowed...
-
I know English isn't his first language, but it was a typo, not a language issue.
-
LBT 10 (despite being home to one of the most biggest blunders in the series, if not THE biggest)
What was that blunder?
-
Malte279 is probably thinking about the incident where Shorty tripped the sharptooth instead of more realistically getting crushed, but I think that the following is even worse.
Somewhere in the middle of the movie, a volcanic disturbance shot flames/whatever out at Pat's foot, hurting him pretty badly and causing him to limp for practically the rest of the movie. This hindered his ability in the sharptooth fight at the end.
However, in perspective, Bron, Littlefoot's father, suffered a sharptooth bite -- on his foot. Pat suffered an injury like that on his foot, so one would think Bron would basically be powered toast at this point. But, there's no blood. There's no injury. There's no limping. Just a mild yell, and it's like he was never even bit in the first place! THAT seems VERY unlikely.
Nevertheless, I like the movie, all the same. :)
-
Sounds like the movie had 2 blunders. Maybe someone needs to look the script over before animation starts on it.
-
Malte279 will argue that there's at least a dozen more....
-
As for what I perceive as the shortcomings of LBT and the arguments against my point of view I recommend to take a look at this thread (http://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=381.0) (provided that you have a lot of time to read it all ;)).
-
What a surprise at which film is #1 in the poll...
-
Out of 53 votes, I'm the only one who voted for #2 and #3? :p I feel special. :lol
-
You are indeed special, in many other ways too.
-
I didn't cast any vote in the pol as I am very cautious about ranking the movies (though I could name a few which are definitely not on my favorite list). I have heard many people speak up against LBT 3. While I admit that they were pushing the moral button to hard towards the end I did like the movie in general and more so than some later episodes. The same goes for LBT 2 which had some rather sentimental moments.
-
What a surprise at which film is #1 in the poll...
Yeah, but for the 11 members that voted for the original, there are 39 more that favored one of the sequels. :P:
-
I guess everyone has their own movies that they like the best. Some of the movies have a different feel then the others do.
-
EDIT: Whoops, never mind, I mistook this for another poll. :P:
-
Well these are my top 5:
5. Journey to Big Water.
4. The Mysterious Island.
3. The Great Day of the Flyers.
2. The Great Valley Adventure.
1. The original movie.
-
If I would have to decide, which one is my favourite, I would choose the tenth film. How I said before: The story of shorty (not chorty XD) is very nice, and that Littlefoot meets his father there is very impressive to me. There were many sad moments in the film, too. And I like the LBT films with much emotion.
-
I think the point of this poll was to select your top 5 in the poll options. ;)
-
I know^^, I did that yet. I just wanted to say if I had to decide, I would choose the tenth movie.
-
Wow, I'm a major minority here. -chose Secret of Saurus Rock-
-
That is a great one. Interesting guest characters. At least this time it makes sense why we likely won't see the rainbow faces again, or the 2 flyers who were with Pterano. No reason Pterano can't help the gang sometime when they are outside the great valley. Though maybe he moved to one of the other nice places Doc mentioned exist.
-
I was expecting that the first one would have the most votes.
-
It looks like LBT 10 is hot on the original film's heels. It looks like there is hope for this community yet.
-
Huh? Has there ever been any lack of hope about this community???
The day the hopes of this community is based on LBT 10 is the day when I will give up any hope -_-
-
I was joking. :P: LBT 10 isn't as bad as it's brought out to be, though....
-
I enjoyed it, but it could have been batter. Though I liked Sue and Pat. I still think it would have been better with Ali and Doc making an appearance in it instead of making up a bunch of new characters and no old characters returning at all.
-
I just editted the poll to add LBT 13 as an option.
-
LBT 10 isn't as bad as it's brought out to be, though....
LBT 10 is my second favorite sequel! I didn't like the animation too much though. I still can't believe that some people didn't like it. If any of them are bad, it's LBT 6, 11, and 13 in my opinion.
-
My Favorite Land Before Time Movie Is Part 7. The One With Petrie's Uncle Pterano And His Two Henchmen Rinkus And Sierra.
The Stone Of Cold Fire Was My Favorite Sequel And It Will Always Be Loved By People.
-
I love them all.
-
The Land Before Time 7 Got 11.02% Votes? Maybe Some Of Us Voted For Our Favorite Land Before Time Movie.

3.The Land Before Time III
4.The Land Before Time V
5.The Land Beforet Time VII.
-
Can't really place the sequels one over the other coz I think they all have their own merits. To pick out one it would have to be the original but I've got no gripes with any of the others. I'll still sit down and watch them all :DD
-
I don't really have a top five. I love them all. :D But if I had to pick it would be this. (in no particular order)
The Land Before Time. Nuff said
The Land Before Time II. Mostly because Chompers in it. :)
The Land Before Time III. I have no idea why I like this one. I just...do.
The Land Before time X. Littlefoot meets his father and they have a flashback of his mother. It's cute.
The Land Before Time V. Chompers back!
-
Land of mists, with Time of the Great Giving and Great Valley Adventure coming in right behind. I'd vote for all three if I could. :)
EDIT: I changed my opinion upon seeing 3 and 4 again. 3 is the best, bar none! I plan to enjoy it in the years to come! :D
-
Here are my votes. There's no first film here, but that's because I don't even remember what it is like. And there's no DVD available, so I can't rewatch it.
- The Land Before Time II: Chomper is adorable, the egg-stealers were incredibly funny, and the songs were good.
- The Land Before Time IV: My favorite. Words cannot describe how I love this movie. The Land of Mists was probably the best thing ever. Ali, Archie, Tickles, even the villains - everything was great. The songs were good. Ali's promise is the most touching moment in the whole series for me. I'm pretty sure that even the first film won't be able to become my number one, because this place is forever taken by The Land Before Time IV.
- The Land Before Time V: Chomper returns in this one. "Always There" is impossible to forget, it was such a great song. Sadly, the island wasn't as "mysterious" as the Land of Mists. Still, I love this movie.
- The Land Before Time IX: The songs are very good (yes, this includes Petrie's song), and Mo is such an interesting character. The whole movie is very beautiful and heartwarming, too.
- The Land Before Time X: It's epic. Spectacular, beautiful and epic. The songs were some of the best, especially the last one.
-
LBT 1: Nothing can beat it! It is so beautiful and heartwarming but also tearjerking. The animation was better than in most of the other sequels and a lot of my favourite quotes are in the original.
The soundtrack completes the awesomeness of the original.
LBT 3: It has a fire and the best Sharptooth battle after the original. Over all a nice movie.
LBT 4: I consider the message of the movie as one of the best ones of all movies. Besides I really like Ali.
LBT 8: My favourite sequel. The whole story's just cool: Snow's a cool thing and the movie was about Ducky and Spike so I really like it. It likely was the first of them I ever watched. Besides Family is a great song.
LBT 12: It's the movie with the best songs imo. The plot is quite enjoyable and Guido is pretty funny.
