General Land Before Time / What screw ups
« on: January 29, 2008, 10:15:19 PM »
I haven't seen that movie since I was 12, what's missing? Is the Elasmasaurus supposed to have a crest or a sail on her head? Or is it the sun? (I bet it 's really obvious and I'm gonna feel so stupid when someone explains it to me)

Also, don't know if counts, but in The Great Day of the Flyers when Guido, Petrie, and his brothers are holding Cera's little sister in the air and drops her, she falls for like 10 seconds and Cera catches her by sticking her snout out and her sister lands belly-first. There was no visible suspension or shock absorption. If her sistger had really fallen that fast and for that long, stopping her downward velocity so quickly would subject her to some serious g's. Realistically, she couldn't fall like that, land like that, and walk away giggling.

This isn't an animation mistake, so I'm not sure if this is what people are looking for.

The Fridge / Psychology: The Dancing Girl
« on: January 28, 2008, 08:26:59 PM »
When I first looked at it, she was going counter-clockwise. Then I read the bit of information on the left and it said most people see her going clockwise. I looked again, and plain as day I could see she was going clockwise! Five minutes later, I couldn't change her direction back.  :bang

General Land Before Time / How did they get down there?

They weren't wet when we see them next on the log.

Due to the animation, it's impossible to tell when any characters are wet or not. After getting dunked into the water, both Cera and Petrie looked completely normal mere seconds afterwards.

General Land Before Time / Should the songs be removed?
« on: January 27, 2008, 05:17:53 PM »
I can't think of any songs I flat out hated, most songs fit into three categories:

1) Memorable songs (a few days later I could still remember a few words and/or the tune)

2) Average songs (they were nice to listen to at the time but afterwards I couldn't remember a bit of it)

3) Redeemed songs (Didn't like them the first time I heard them, but after a few more times they grew on me)

My favorite songs are ones sung on a very small scale (i.e. ones sung only by the five main characters while they're alone). I didn't like as much the giant songs where everyone in the Great Valley is dancing and singing along ("Creepy Crawlies," "Flip Flap and Fly," "Yellow Belly Hop"). I just don't think of the adults as people who would break out into song and dance like that.

General Land Before Time / Locations in LBT movies

I think it was in the first one. And on Wikipedia it says Jeff Bennett played Petrie and the narrator/spokes dinosaur in LBT 7 (ironically the one you're missing   <_<  )

I've seen all of the LBT, except for VIII, IX, XII, and XIII. Yes, I can't lie; I have yet to see those.
Finally, someone else who hasn't finished watching the series! I still haven't seen the 9th one (Journey to Big Water), or the... 11?, 12? (the Tinysaurus one).

I also agree with you on many points, including having to laugh about the excessive number of sequels, while secretly wishing the movies would never stop. Kinda gets to be a little trying after a while.

Also, Malte, that is an awesome picture. I once drew the five original characters, though not original drawings (I traced their images off the back of VHS boxes, and colored them in.) Sorry about the contest letdown. Personally, I'll bet the "surprise" was a coupon for a free Littlefoot plush toy :wow .

By the way, I'm 20 years old now. At the time, I was around twelve.

General Land Before Time / Visiting the Great Valley

It would be hard to get protein though seeing as the dino's certainly wouldn't allow me to eat meat.
Well, Chomper pulls it off somehow, and there are humans who eat insects (like chocolate covered ants, my aunt used to love those   :x ).

As for me, I'd be a swimmer like Ducky. I've always loved the water. And actually Ducky's family is the closest species to looking and having the same body structure as a human (not to mention opposable thumbs, who nobody else gets), and hadrosaurs were thought to be good mothers.

Also, to counter the boredom problem, I'd simply have to be born in the Great Valley, and live my life not knowing about the modern world I'm missing.  Ignorance is bliss, you know.

Besides, if I live in the same period of time as Littlefoot & co. there'll be plenty of action to live through (how many storms have they gone through by now?) and with the exception of that one song from Journey to Big Water, the real characters have never seemed bored for too long.

Can we count places named by the Narrator (or "Spokes Dinosaur," according to the credits)? Cause then we can add Earth :DD .

Land Before Time TV Series (2007) / The FIRST episode you saw
« on: January 25, 2008, 09:15:54 PM »
Since I don't normally watch TV, the only one I've seen is "The Hidden Canyon," which was an extra on the LBT13 DVD. It was pretty good, and I wish I could see more, but unless there's any available online I have no way of watching them.

Also, on Wikipedia it said that Ruby has an odd way of talking, but in this episode her grammar and syntax were perfectly normal. Is it different in most other episodes (cause even Yoda sounded right sometimes  :) )

General Land Before Time / which character weighs more?
« on: January 25, 2008, 09:06:43 PM »
In "The Big Freeze" Spike was the only one who broke through the ice at the end.

After that, I'd vote Cera, since in LBT 5 during the locust plague Littlefoot and Ducky ran inside the log but Cera tried and got stuck.

General Land Before Time / Favorite Sharptooth in the series?
« on: January 25, 2008, 09:01:51 PM »
Definitely the original. That guy just wouldn't quit. Chomper would be my 2nd pick, only because when I read the title of this forum, I didn't even think of Chomper (he's never really qualified as a bona fide sharptooth in my opinion).

General Land Before Time / Should the songs be removed?
« on: January 24, 2008, 10:44:25 PM »
I definitely think the songs should stay. After 13 ovies, watching one without songs would just feel odd.

My personal favorite song is "Beyond the Mstterious Beyond," and I have about five 2nd favorites, including but not limited to "One of a Kind," "Kids Like Us," "Things Change," "Family," and "Bestest Friends."

I wish Ducky would get some songs where she's the lead singer; the other three get so many of those (except Spike  :^.^: )!

General Land Before Time / i need to get this off my chest

Ducky's an awesome character to have a crush on. I didn't care about LBT in the period of my life where I developed crushes, but if I had, Ducky would've been the one I chose too (kinda helps that she's my all-time favoite character :D )!

mcr mad, you should add   to your original post.

General Land Before Time / LBT 14
« on: January 24, 2008, 10:24:26 PM »
Chomper's nice, but he still isn't a longneck. And it's a bit late for the producers to add another relative.

Anyway, this is supposed to be about LBT 14, not 9. Let's deviate back to the original topic.

1988 Theatrical Release / Tell Your Story About LBT
« on: January 24, 2008, 10:08:03 PM »
When my dad showed me my first LBT (don't know which one, probably the first, 'cause my dad's chronologically inclined like that  :lol ) I enjoyed it, and ranked it somewhere on my mental list of good movies. That was enough for mom, and she quickly bought the first three movies, which were all that existed then.

After that, she bought 4-7 (plus the Sing Along Song one) when each one came out. At some point, probably around 12, LBT became my favorite movie series, and I wanted to contribute. I had lots of of good ideas for future films, and for the next two months I typed up and sent a series of 15-20 letters to Universal Studios, each one teling them how big a fan I was, some ideas I had for future movies, and my exitement at waiting for The Big Freeze to come out. Each letter ended with a small request that they send a letter back, or at least acknowledge me.

I never got a letter back.

Seeing how this saddened me, my father decided to help. I remember how he actually called Universal Studios, got in contact with somebody high up, and spoke to them about the letters I'd been sending, and asked that they write one back. Whoever it was assured him they would. They didn't.

This (coupled with the fact that my brother, who had scribbled a hand-written "I Love You" note to the makers of G.I.Joe, and recieved in the mail a coupon for $3 off his next action figure) sort of turned me off the series. When Big Freeze came out, I watched it, and (probably because of the letter fiasco) decided that it wasn't any good. After that, I gave up Land Before Time entirely.  :cry

For the next 8 year of my life, I had absolutely no contact with anything LBT. I develope new intrests: Star Trek, soccer, Drama, this one girl in my English class   .

I don't know what got me reintrested. I think it was during a conversation a few weeks before with my firends about the "Good ole days," that I remembered my passion for the series. I looked it up on youtube, and watched a few clips. I decided that dislike for the producing comany is no reason to stop lovng the series itself, and two days later watched my first of the 'new' LBT movies, The Stone of Cold Fire (still my all-time favorite). One of the Youtube videos included the link to this forum, which is why I'm here!

General Land Before Time / Most hated/liked LBT character
« on: January 23, 2008, 10:35:59 PM »
While Ducky is my personal favorite character, I like all of the Big 5 just as much. They really work well together as a group, personality-wise (I just wish Cera had someone else to back her up during disputes)...

As for dislike, I know they were supposed to be comical characters, but I really didn't like any of the yellow bellies (except the mute one). They were just too clownish, and didn't take anything seriously. I can't imagine such a species suriviving as long as they did, and once they strip clean the Berry Valley I can't imagine what they'll possibly do to stay alive.

I'd seen that review before; I was googling "Great Valley Heaven" in the hopes of finding some more information on that theory, and his was the second link. Suffice to say it wasn't quite what I had in mind!
