Title: Plans for next singing project this summer
Post by: action9000 on June 06, 2009, 01:36:23 PM
Hi all!

Mumbling and I will be meeting up in person this summer and we'll be starting a new LBT singing project together randomly, for fun!  We just wanted to get some opinions of songs that people would like to sing, as well as see who would be interested!

We have decided on one of:

Beyond the Mysterious Beyond
How Do You Know
Kids Like Us

For details on how the singing projects work, everything is explained in this topic:

Yay! Another singing project!  :D

Tough call seeing as all three of those I actually quite like. If I had to pick one, I'd prefer "How Do You Know" but either way, which ever one is picked, I'm game ;)

Ooh good choices. I put my vote for Beyond the Mysterious Beyond, but I would say either that or How Do You Know.

My vote goes to Beyond the Mysterious Beyond. Which sequel is "How do you know" from again? Was it LBT 13?

Yeah it's from LBT XIII. It's the only song that wasn't really childish and corny.

Point to note there Action. Beyond the Mysterious Beyond actually has some harmony sections to it. On a confirmation of numbers, there'd have to be a split as to who sings what part after the line "Or maybe even higher". I assume that will be easy enough to co-ordinate right? ;)

yeah, sure mate. Goldwave is a really good programm to record what you are singing. You should use a headset and not just a mic, that one doesn¥t hear the music in the background. Hmm, if you need help with G-Force and how it works, you can just pm me or I¥ll meet you online in MSN ;-) Oh and there is something else I found out. If you go to effects and put in 0.15 in Delay and -25 in Volume, you get a pretty good sound. But you can play around with it a bit. Sometimes 0.3 and -20.5 makes also a very good sound. Just try different things. Oh, but leave the Feedback and the Echoes at zero ;-)

Alright, just found out something better. Echoes: 2 or 3, Delay 0.3600, Volume -19.2. But how I said, you can still play around with it. OH, and there is a play buttom in this window. If you click this then you can change the options while you are listening to it. It¥s pretty helpful ;-)

The harmonies would sound so cool! I would glady lend my voice to both parts, especially Littlefoot's :D

Actually, I'd prefer if you didn't apply any Echo settings to your recording.  In my software, I have much higher-quality reverb (echo) effects, as well as much greater control over how the recording sounds than one can get in a program like Goldwave.

I'll just show ya something cool here. :p
This is the program I use for echo/reverb effects.  It's a plugin and that's all it does, but it does it very, very well!

If your recording is kept "Dry" (that is, no effects applied to it), it gives me the most freedom, such as being able to use programs like this one.  Thanks! :D

Oh I see, alright. Then I wont give it any effects. Good that you are telling. But now you made me curious. What for a program is that exactly? And is there a demo version of it?

Dang!  They're all good choices.  I'll go for any one of them, thank you! :)

Looking like Beyond the Mysterious Beyond, so far!  Glad to see there's so much interest.  We'll be working on this throughout July, starting around the 10th or so.

Are you from holland too?

Is this a fandub or something?
Title: Plans for next singing project this summer
Post by: Mumbling on June 11, 2009, 09:55:27 AM
No, Action9000 is from Canada. I will just be visiting him. (I am from Holland)

I don't know what a fandub is, so I'll let someone else answer that question :p

I have no idea which of the 3 songs I like best, so I'll just see what comes out of it and won't cast a vote. :)

We'll be using completely new media for our song.  I have the experience and means to reproduce the background music by ear, which we'll be singing to.

Looks like we'll be singing Beyond the Mysterious Beyond! :D

I'm basically finished writing up the background music for it, as of now.  I'm just going to talk to Mumbling and organize what we want to do about the "when"s and "how"s regarding everyone singing!

Stay tuned! :D

Okay, we have a plan!  I'll post up 3 different versions of the background music.  Each version will have a different harmony part playing along on a piano with the music.  You can just pick which part you want to sing (low, medium or high), download that file and sing along to the notes you hear.  In the end, it will all match up together nicely! :D

I"ll put them up here once they're done. :)

Do we still get the option of being able to singing without the melody playing because thats the way that I prefer to sing.

I'm in.  I don't really want to sing "Beyond the Mysterious Beyond" but if it's the majority vote I can handle it.  This time 'round I'll have more advanced equipment and a quieter working environment. :yes  :D
