My choice is Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007)

It was long, and so boring I actually fell asleep in the theater, and that never happens to me.

I love the original Pirates trilogy, including this one. :smile To each their own, though! I did think that the first two Pirates movies were better than the third. The third did start out pretty slow, and I remember wondering, the first time I saw it, when things were going to pick up. Also, I thought the 4th and 5th movies were pretty bland...without much of Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom, things just weren't the same.

With a gasp, Wild Arms tried, very unsuccessfully, to hide behind Guido. "WORSE than sharpteeth??" he squeaked.

"I mean, it was a sharptooth!" Cera blurted. "It was Red Claw! But--but..."

"But what??" cried Guido, clinging to Wild Arms's neck.

"But...he...he was with YELLOWBELLIES!" gasped Cera.

Wild Arms and Guido stared at each other for a moment, then sighed in relief. "Phew..."

"Alright, heh-heh, very funny," Guido said.

"You really scared us!" Wild Arms gasped.

I've seen almost the entire show! Only thing I've missed is a lot of the Season 9 episodes. I went to YouTube for a handful that I just had to see, but aside from that I'm waiting on Netflix to pick up that season. My pony phase, too, faded out for a few years, but lately I've started re-watching the show, and I'm really enjoying it.

While Season 9 is still not yet available on Netflix, it has recently become available on Hulu, if you're interested.

I don't have Hulu, but thanks for letting me know about this anyway! I'm glad to know this season's at least starting to become available for streaming now!

Absurb idea for thought? What if some of the characters start seeing the yellowbellies as amazing and want to join in with them? Example: Hyp, Wild Arms, and or Thud? XD

That could be fun! :lol "Absurb" is pretty much the point of this RP, right? :lol

"Well, what do you wanna do now?" Guido asked the others, glad to be back on firm ground at the bottom of the Looking Rock.

Chomper and Wild Arms didn't even have time to answer, however, before they heard a cry of panic. "GUYS!"

Wild Arms and Guido spun around and saw that Cera was barreling straight towards them. And if there was one thing that made Wild Arms nervous, it was a threehorn barreling towards him.

"Stay back!" Wild Arms yelled, waving his arms in front of him as if to stop Cera. "That was an accident when I ate your dad's tree stars, I swear!"

Cera frowned. "You ate my dad's tree stars?"

Wild Arms giggled anxiously. "Wait--what? Did I say that?"

"Oh, forget it," Cera said, "there's something more important to worry about!"

"What's the matter?" Guido asked. "Is it what was going on between you and Hyp?" As soon as those words left his mouth, he blushed. "Not to say a-anything's, uh, going on between you guys, so to speak...heh, that was a bad choice of words..." He glanced towards Chomper, hoping his friend would say something to change the subject.

Character Discussion / Re: Tickles!
« on: April 24, 2020, 02:25:34 PM »
Tickles is one of those characters that failed to make any impact whatsoever on me when I watched LBT as a kid. I think it basically boiled down to "he's not a dinosaur, so therefore I don't care." Harsh, but true! :p Nowadays, though, I'd say he's cute, though I still tend to forget about him when I'm thinking about LBT's one-off characters.

That was my mentality as well. The series was basically all about dinosaurs, so if something wasn't a dinosaur, why bother paying attention? From the start, Tickles to me didn't make a very good first impression. I don't know whether I would pay more attention to his character if I happened to rewatch the film or would my opinion stay the same. Guess there's only one way to find out and that is to actually watch the darn movie in the near future. :lol
Phew, it's not just me. :SmugSpike In fact, I think LBT IV overall never thrilled me much because it had so many of those non-dinosaurs in it--Ichy, Dil, Tickles. I couldn't stand those small mammals from the TV series, either--I got into LBT for the dinosaurs, not some random mammals!! :rolleyes

Yeah, that trio of mammals was not my cup of tea either. They had a whole variety of dinosaurs to choose from, yet they pull a stunt like that? Come on. :rolleyes

I know...why not some small dinosaurs or something, instead? :rolleyes And the crabs, while maybe not as annoying to me as the mammals, were similar offenders as far as I'm concerned.

Hmm, I'm sure I've seen plenty of bad movies, but it's hard to think up one that stands out to me as being the WORST. If I think about specifically animated movies, though, the Dinotopia cartoon Quest for the Ruby Sunstone comes to mind. *Sigh*...I'm ashamed to say this movie was a big part of my childhood, right alongside LBT. Then, years later, I dug it out of the cabinet, hoping for nostalgia. Instead, I was shocked I'd ever thought the obnoxious movie was good! There were WAY too many mean-spirited, annoying characters who were there for no reason but supposed comic relief. The villain sidekicks were irritating, and the good-guy sidekick was even MORE irritating, to the point of being unbearable! (His name was Spaz. I don't really need to say more!) :x A heaping of Spaz-induced torture forced me to turn off the insufferable movie halfway through. UGH! :anger The only part of that movie I was able to squeeze any nostalgia from was skipping to the end credits for the song that played there, which, amazingly, was as good as I had remembered (unfortunate that it had to be in THIS movie).

I guess the bright side is how that crummy movie introduced me to the REAL Dinotopia: the book series that is interesting, imaginative, welcoming, and everything else the cartoon is not! (I've also seen the author, James Gurney, mention online that he'd objected to the making of that dumb cartoon version--no surprise there!) :p But here's what really shocked me: Davis Doi, the director of LBT XIV, also directed that poor excuse for Dinotopia. Thank goodness we didn't get some Spaz 2.0 in Journey of the Brave!

Role Play Discussion / Re: Idea: TLBT Oopsie RP

Another idea to throw out there if Pterano get's involved. He constantly tries to help the gang by lending out some of his wisdoms and things he learned while staying in the Mysterious Beyond. However he is on the recieving end of the bad luck as slapstick happens to him repeatedly.  :PCera If and when there is a showdown with Rinkus and Sierra it becomes a litteral slapstick survival match rather than a fight as crazy things keep happening during the fight.

Is there any characters that you think should be involved outside of the main seven? Personally I feel like characters like RedClaw could take the backseat unless there is a fun idea to incorporate him.

Haha, sounds like a fun idea to me. I can see the flyers trying to duke it out but failing (hilariously) miserably. :p And I agree that Red Claw probably doesn't need to be in here. His home is in "Yellowbellies Rule!" for now! :lol

Flathead, this looks awesome! You captured the style of a video game so perfectly, pixels and all! There isn't really much else I can say that other people haven't already said, but fantastic work! I would totally play this game--as long as the Gang is just pretending, right? :lol ("Sharptooth Attack" went a little too far!)

Character Discussion / Re: Wild Arms
« on: April 24, 2020, 01:29:27 PM »
I was hoping at least someone would've told me what he was. :p  I couldn't figure it out.

He's a Nothronychus, according to a post from the official LBT FB page. (So glad they made him look more like a proper therizinosaur than the yellowbellies!)

I gotta admit, I actually like Wild Arms. I can see where his hyperactive/cowardly antics would be annoying to some people, but for the most part, I thought he was quite funny! The scenes where he plays off Mr. Threehorn are gold! :lol And when he and Chomper meet...THAT got actual laughter out of me! (Few LBT movies have ever made that happen.) I think part of the humor of him is that he's not the type of character you'd typically find in the LBT universe. They have him use more modern language like "up top," but they don't overdo that kind of thing to the point where it goes from funny to annoying. Actually, Wild Arms seems like what you would get if you dropped some normal, modern-day dude into the dinosaur world--while other characters are like, "Oh, it's a sharptooth, it must be Tuesday," he's flying into a panic. Let's face it: if any of us got dropped in the LBT world, we would react in the same way as Wild Arms. :p

Can't help but suspect Wild Arms will continue to feel he owes Bron for his kindness to the point that he will feel independently moved to save someone Bron cares about. He'd be the type who'd be dragged kicking and moaning into adventures while, in spite of himself, coming to like these adventuring people.

Ever since XIV, I've had a headcanon quite similar to this. I really don't think we can say Wild Arms is completely selfish. He may not have wanted to lead Grandpa Longneck and Mr. Threehorn to the Fire Mountain, and he may have tried to convince them to go back early on, but as soon as Grandpa Longneck mentions the children to him, Wild Arms is defeated--he knows he can't argue with that, not wanting the kids to be in danger. Maybe he also felt guilty over it being his fault Littlefoot knew how to get to the Fire Mountain in the first place. So even as important as saving his own skin is to Wild Arms, I can't help thinking his good side ultimately overcomes that.

I do wish, however, that he'd gotten his proper chance to be an unexpected hero before the movie's end, helping to fend of a sharptooth or save Bron. Felt like he should have gotten that sort of character arc. Also, it would have been nice to see more of him and Etta interacting, seeing as how they seemed to be good friends from the brief moment of screen time they had together, plus Etta's reaction to Littlefoot mentioning him.

(Oh, and I've noticed, by the way, that there must be some person on the internet who downright hates this character. The wiki descriptions of Wild Arms I've seen paint him in a very negative light, all but calling him an antagonist!)

I would just like to say that with academics out of the way, I will indeed be writing a piece for the March OC prompt and have gotten the permission from the author in question to write their OCs, but my entry will be a belated one due to personal matters plaguing me throughout March and April. I won't ask for an extension, but I feel rather sheepish that the OC idea which I'd indirectly pushed for ended up being beset by time pressure. :lol

Aha, so you're the one responsible for this prompt! :p When I first joined the forum, I thought, "I'm gonna participate in every prompt, no matter how hard it is!" Now, only a month later, this tricky prompt has already forced me to abandon that goal. :whatdidyousay

@ImpracticalDino Ah, I'm happy I could catch your attention, then! :Mo Thank you!! Who knows? Maybe they've been inspired by some certain heroic residents of space out there. Their voyages probably take them past Asgard, Sakaar, etc. every now and then. :p
@Gentle Sharptooth Indeed. :rainbowwave Fortunately, we come in peace! ;)Cera

Well, back to movie style now! Here's Pterano looking like he's about to recite Shakespeare! :lol I was looping Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" while I did this, trying to hit the right mood for this guy's character. (Who else thinks that song really suits him?)

(EDIT: Feel free to correct me on that, because I've never looked up the actual meaning of the song and don't know all the words. Heh, I think I just associate it with Pterano because the instrumentals remind me of "Very Important Creature.") :p

General Land Before Time / Re: LBT in the new 2020s decade
« on: April 22, 2020, 08:55:20 PM »
If they were to ever try to reboot at all, I would prefer them to do it in a style of like a series of small movies like The Dark Crystal Age of Resistance. Though I'd be hesitant with a reboot at all because I feel like it would probably throw out all what the franchise has developed out the window (Characters and world development).

I feel the same, a reboot I fear will purge all the character development that has transpired ober 14 films.

This perfectly sums up why I despise reboots. The Monster High DTV films come to mind. I'm not sure how many other people here would know anything about those, but the bottom line is that character traits which had come about only as a result of growth and development in the original series became taken for granted in the rebooted set of characters, even though their pre-reboot history had been erased. Worse, some characters basically swapped personalities!
