How ironic... I'm listening to an improvisation (played live) of Miles Davis' "B****es Brew," done a couple of years ago. What makes it ironic, is that it, the same guy who spearheaded the remaster of that album, was also somewhat in charge of this live performance... However, as I said earlier, I have no problem with "interpretations" of someone else's music... That's all fine and good. It's when they start remastering EXISTING ALBUMS, changing THEIR sound, and adding new tracks; that's when I blow the cork...
Naw, I have no problem with "cover artists," "cover bands," or anything like that. As a matter of fact, that's how most amature musicians start out; playing other people's music. (Of which, Bob Belden isn't, necessarily - an amature... (Though, with the butchering of those remasters... <_< ))
Only when, like I said, they start messing with the sound of pre-existing albums, and adding tracks that have no business on said albums, and whatnot, that I have an issue... And actually, it is interesting to hear just how differently the same piece of music can be interpreted, between multiple artists... I find it somewhat fascinating...
