I shot a man in half in slow-motion, with a shotgun. This was in the game, F.E.A.R.
Another one might be an artillery strike on a goup of footsoldiers in the game Company of Heroes. You'll see arms, legs and torsoes being thrown around by the force of the explosions.

Probably those rail shooters where you can shoot the bad guys that pop-out, and if you keep up a steady barrage, they keep getting hit and don't fall over until you cease fire. Picture getting an entire clip (or two, in 2-player) loaded into your family jewels. Ouch.

I think I've put this up in another thread somewhere but hey...it seems to fit the bill. Straight from Resi 4 (via Youtube) almost every possible convincable way to be knocked off in the game. What worries me the most is that all these scenes linked together total almost 9mins! :blink: :DD. Guess the guys at Capcom really went all out on these huh? :lol

Getting your head shot off with an arrow. Blood spews all over the place and it's super sick. Sometimes the head just floats there while the body collapses. After death, you can zoom up on the headless body and the bodyless head. (Fable TLC)

Sheesh! These are all pretty nasty ways to get whacked!
How about this one: someone takes an uppercut from an opponent which sends them up in the air and crashing through the hardwood floor. They become impaled on some kind of a spike with other spikes branching out of it. As the person slowly slides down the spike, their limbs are severed off by the branching spikes. The limbs are stolen and dragged off by hungry rats as the person continues to convulse and spurt out blood wherever limbs were severed and where they were impaled at (Mortal Kombat: Armageddon).

BioShock has a whole mess of nasty ways to die. Here are some of those ways.
1. Having your guts ripped out with hooks (that guy that you watch get murdered when you first arrive in the city.)
2. Being burned to death (any enemy that you kill with the fire pasmid)
3. being set on fire then electrocuted (setting a splicer on fire and when they jump in water, zapping it with the Electrobolt plasmid.)
4. Stung to death by a swarm of genetically enhanced bees (insect swarm plasmid)
5. Being impaled with a big daddy's drill (that dead guy who was impaled on the desk)
6. Being "harvested" (little sisters)
7. Being beat to death with a monkey wrench (any number of enemies)
8. Being beat to death with a golf club and having the end break off and become imbedded in your skull. (the Andrew Ryan death scene comes to mind)
10. Being stabbed to death by little girls with big needles (Fontain being killed by Little Sisters.)
11. Being shot to death with a nail gun (if you are killed by a Rosie)
12. I shudder to think what kind of death the victims of Dr. Steinmen suffered (the bodies strapped to the roof where you fight him)

The worse video game deaths I've ever seen are all in one game: Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem.
1. Being gradually turned into a zombie, but retaining my human mind and soul. Oh, and I also slowly become insane, and then left locked in a room for hundreds for years to stew in my misery. Finally, I am given the sweet enbrace of death when the newest playable character comes by with a mace. Seriously, it doesn't get any worse than that. <_<
2. The runner up: having my skull exploded by a demigod. :wow
3. Getting jumped by a monster straight out of H.P. Lovecraft and then it makes off with my head. :blink:
4. Being dumped into the still under-construction foundations of a tower, and being one of many corpses that end doing our own impression of "Frozen Han Solo". :o
5. Having skeletal figure called the "bone thief" skin me alive and make off wearing my flesh as a disguise. :x
That's about all I can remember off the top of my head.

Especially in MK: Armageddon. The more ya dismember the opponent, the better fatality. I believe it's called a "killer fatality" when ya rip the opponent's head off :x. Ever play the Konquest part? Talk about brutal! Another one in that game is catapulting the opponent into a wall and SPLAT! It is a violent video game series indeed.

I just don't get how Wind Waker got away with an E rating, especially with the ending. You take on Ganondorf in an epic battle that was seen as one of the best battles ever at the time, and at the very end, you have Link finish him off with driving the Master Sword right through his skull. :o And it doesn't stop there, the Master Sword then turns Ganondorf's entire body, swords included, into stone. :blink:

Spartanguy88 has officially increased my interest in checking out Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe :yes. Some of the fatalities appear lame in that more gore is needed considering the severity of the injuries inflicted :rolleyes:. However, they all looked painful. Green Lantern's giant sledgehammers remind me of the iceblock stunt in Saw IV :x. The Joker's magic card trick fatality was interesting to see as well. This looks interesting even though the gore is less than that of previous games :yes. An interesting combination of opponents indeed.

Everyone here has given examples of the worst way of dying in a game by showing how it happened. The worst game deaths however, can also be called that as to why the character died. Having a character die by something horrible happening to his body can be pretty bad. But the worst way for a character to die in a game could also be contributed to how tragic his passing away was, blood and gore, ot not. I own this game, and I have never disliked a way of dying more than this: having the main character that you've come to know and love and have been playing as for the entire game, let's himself die for what he believed was a greater good. After all that time with him, instead of being rewarded at he end, the one you fought with throughout the whole game gives his last beath before your very eyes and won't ever come back. Most deaths I've read here so far are just game overs that can jus be reloaded. This time it was permanent. Dying and staying that way is worse than a simple "try again" meesage, I think. So this isn't a game you want to start over on because you know he or she is going to die tragically in the end anyway, so you just want to forget about that and end up never playing the game again. It's really terrible. But now I can actually SHOW you what I am talking about since Mumbling just explained to me how to post a link. Since you will only see the ending, it won't be as bad as if you had been with the character from the beginning, but you'll still see himself sacrificing his own life to save others. Sad deaths are far worse than grusome ones for me to watch. Or course, I'm probably the only one here who feels that way.
To understand what you would see here, let me explain the game just a bit, because it is so rare, I doubt many here have even heard of it: Seventh Cross Evolution. The story and main character's actions are always the same, but at the beginning of the game you customize the look of the main character, and I must say, the player here has an unusual taste in character design, as you'll notice. Now the ending of the game here, which is the time he dies, is a little long, so it had to be made in two separate videos, and the dramatic conclusion is of course on the second video toward the bottom. But if you don't at least see the first half of the ending, which is the part right before he dies- the first video here- then his death won't even make any sense at all. The first video starts with a cutscene right before a boss. Since this is the ending, you won't understand why certain events are happening, but as to how horriblly he dies, which is all the topic asks for, that can be understood better if you watch the first part. This will also show people the game type I like best: turn based role playing. This explains why the player here can't just move the character and start hitting. This is about thinking, not reflexes. So as the name implies, in every battle, you and your opponents take turns, each time picking between physical attacks, magic, and items. That may sound strange to some of you, but I enjoy this type of game most of all and this particular game had an excellent story besides the hero dying. Here we go. And sorry to dissapoint any of you, but if I remember correctly, there is no blood here at all. My "worst way to die game ending" that I have seen before:

I can come up with some examples of this too. It does tend to piss one off when they become attached to a character only to see the character killed off in the game.

I agree with you 100%. It is the most humiliating to be beaten by a Jigglypuff on any Super Smash Bros. game. That is why she is my favorite character and the ONLY character I ever play as. When you have friends over and they know that Jigglypuff is the weakest character and actually consider her a joke, it is that much more satisfying to beat them with her. And since I've played Super Smash Bros. for years, I am quite good with her since I don't get confused trying to learn multiple characters' fighting styles. People always laugh when I pick her than get shocked if I beat them. People learn from personal experience that they don't want to get near me when I can get a home run bat. In fact, people that know me well enough frantically try to get the bat before me because of the bat's home run special ability. You know, where you pull the bat back which gives the opponent plenty of time to get away but will instantly K.O. them if they are hit. But they can't really run away from me when they're asleep now, can they? Besides, she is so light that I can move around really easily compared to Donkey Kong, Bowser, Ganondorf, and the like. Actually, when I get a fighter, I always try to learn the weakest character so I can master him or her and be that much more impressive if I win. Just a little quirk I have. Later!

As soul destroying as it is to be KO'd but that annoying fluffball with the googly eyes, some of her attacks are actually quite potent. If anyone thought that her Down Special (Falling asleep) was utterly pointless, think again! If you can fall asleep right on top of someone (as dodgy as that sounds :DD) you can launch them for miles! Also, in Melee and Brawl, her charged up spin attack can obliterate an opponent with only medium damage. Jigglypuff can be a formidable fighter in the right hands but it does leave you feeling somewhat distressed to think that that little puffball nobbled you :lol

Having a Boomer vomit on you, causing about a dozen or so zombies rush at you; at the same time having a Hunter pounce on you and claw at you. With the combined Hunter/Zombie rush on you, you die.
It happened to me before.
EDIT: What's even worse is that you have to hear the character you're playing as screaming his/her head off. They say stuff like:
"GET IT OFF! GET IT OFF ME!!!!!"

for me is the worst way to die in a game, when I must reload my weapon.

^ I get that all the time on MW2 :lol Points to note on FPS multiplayers:
1. There is NEVER a good time to reload!
2. There are NEVER enough bullets in your clip!
3. If you're gonna celebrate about nailing someone, DO IT FAST and DON'T MILK IT! Coz just as quick as you got them.... :lol

Spartanguy88: I don't need to see those videos for I have played the game and have seen the deaths for myself. Every criminal in Arkaham wants Batman Dead! So of course they would kill him in the most grusome and satisfying way possible.
The one that really takes the cake here would be him dying during the times Scarecrow has him in a nightmare. He not only goes through his worst memories, but can't regain his mind. It's just horrible dying that way. Scarecrow is truly EVIL!

It's not quite a death, but-any kart racer-getting hit or accidentally driving into your OWN powerup.

Getting your head lobbed off by a chainsaw weilding "zombie" both in Resident Evil 4 and 5
Or in Fallout 3, shooting your enemy and their limbs randomly explode :lol:
Or even in the classic Prince of Persia game, sliced in half by the slicing trap....or the spikes on the floor!
And of course any fatality in the Mortal Kombat games :lol: I mean come on, getting your spine ripped out! How can that not be one of the worst ways to die?

Dying because of a Gumba in any Mario Game is always terrible... But hilarious at the same time :lol
I think one of the worst ways to die in a Game is in "Until Dawn". If you make wrong decisions, the characters may be killed by 'Wendigos' brutally. It's a Survival Horror game in which the player has to make decisions which influence the story. If the character makes every decisions right, every character survives. But if the player makes too much wrong decisions, every character may die

Literally anything that you can die from in Oregon Trail. Take your pick: Drowning, starvation, thirst, horrible diseases, rattlesnake bites, crushed by a falling wagon... Dysentery seems to be the most infamous because of the internet meme. If you don't know what dysentery actually is, google it. It's not a pleasant way to go. At all.
Oh, you can also randomly get eaten by bears and cougars during the hunting mini game. That's right. Red Dead Redemption may have made getting cougar'd infamous but Oregon Trail invented it.

Virtually any boss fight in which you're just barely a ways off from finishing it off only for the boss to basically sucker punch you and win against you instead. Happens a lot to me more in RPG type games than anything else.

This might not count since it's not a "death", more of a sports loss, but I still cringe thinking of the losing player in this game of Rocket League (https://www.reddit.com/r/RocketLeague/comments/plu7q3/your_arrogance_blinds_you/). Imagine being up 6-2 with 13 seconds left, trash-talking the whole time about how good you are, and then just getting bodied in record time. He may not have died in-game, but he died inside.

I had this kind of moment when I did Mario Kart 8, and I went from first to tenth in five seconds. I could see the finish line!

I've seen three hackers on "Mario Kart 7." I consider myself lucky because I've played for about year, and this is all I've seen. But it makes me so angry when I see one! I'm afraid that hackers could damage my 2DS. They cause an uncomfortable amount of lag when I'm playing with one.

Super Smash Bros has a ton of crazy attacks that'd HURT to get killed/KO'd by.
My favorite is Kirby and Meta Knight's down-throws. They look downright vicious. That'd be sure to break your spine and have you die slowly and painfully :rhett_ohno
