Not a flash game! But its on Steam for a few euros I think.
Ah, yes, Steam. A deep, rich well of enjoyable, lovable crap and the occasional diamond in the rough.

Ever played a game where you just can't figure out what to do, so you look it up? Then, when you discover the insanely obtuse solution, you're left speechless at your computer, thinking "How was I supposed to figure that out?" What are some game puzzle/level solutions so obtuse that there is no way a player could discover it on their own?

Forbidden Siren.
It has some deep moon logic adventure-game style. I think one character had to put a wet towel in a freezer, so that several chapters later another character could take the frozen towel, put a glass on top of it, and wait for the towel to melt to make the glass drop to distract a guard. There is nothing in the game that prompts you to do this, and yet if you don't, you will fail the mission where you have to distract that guard.

Anyone else seen it yet?

Silver Screen / So Sonic 2 was really good.

A huge improvement over the first movie. More Sonic-related stuff, more story, more character beats, more action. The stakes were higher, the story felt bigger, oh, and TAILS AND KNUCKLES! It was a really fun ride which continued to evolve Sonic's character. I highly recommend the film.

I haven't seen the film yet, but I would like to.
:ChomperPOG

I do have a subscription to Disney+, so soon hopefully.
Right, I forgot every place doesn't have an open theater yet.

Silver Screen / Raya and the Last Dragon

No "Raya" topic yet? You guys are slouching.

SPOILERS ABOUND

I was almost afraid it'd be too political when it leaned in heavy with the "WE NEED COME TOGETHER" message at the beginning a bit too strongly. Then it picked when... everything goes wrong for everyone. It was a thoroughly enjoyable, fun, funny, and emotional movie. Sisu the Last Dragon is an absolute delight of a character, and I grinned every time she was on-screen. And man, this film went darker at the end than I was anticipating.

And that third act, I have to say, I don't think I've seen the supporting cast of a Disney film this empowered in a long, long time. I liked how Raya's companions stayed on-mission while she was busy throwing her temper tantrum and were the ones to FINALLY really start to get through to her when everything was going to literal Hell. I think the last time I saw the plucky comic relief do this much in the finale of a Disney film was when Fagan and the dogs saved Oliver and Jenny from Sykes in Oliver and Company.

So, it was actually pretty refreshing. 8.8/10.

I finally got around to watching this, I enjoy the stylistic callbacks to different eras of sitcoms, and the storyline is very well-done in how it slowly delivers just enough info to keep the viewer hooked and add mystery and complications to the situation while keeping the true nature of the core premise opaque.

My only personal criticism, and it's a weird one, is that the superhero setting and the Marvel universe in general don't add much to the experience, and mostly distract from what would otherwise have been an excellent standalone story. I would have preferred it be an entirely orignal series, it would have added a lot more opportunity for discovering who the two protagonists really are and their relation to the real world. It's hard for me to make my point here because it would involve posting and discussing massive spoilers, but things like the protagonists having special powers, the status of whether the husband is alive or dead, even the reveal that there IS a world outside the sitcom, could all have been additional twists instead of things we took for granted going in because it's Marvel.

I totally understand the show would never have happened without the Marvel green light, but the pre-existing universe still felt like something the writers struggled to integrate rather than a fundamental part of the narrative arc, mostly because they kept needing to shoehorn in "as you know" segments and clumsily explain any references/callbacks to things the viewers might not have seen already. The story is already 95% contained, and it could have been all that tighter without the extracurricular baggage.
It's less self-contained than you might think. This series is actually part of a "Multiverse Trilogy" comprised of Wandavision, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, and the as-of-yet Untitled Spider-Man 3. The ending of Wandavision leads directly into the next Doctor Strange movie, which Wanda is also one of the lead characters in.

You know, I shouldn't be surprised by the lack of replies. My attempts to get traction with Marvel movies in the discussion around here never really did get any momentum.

It's Disney-Marvel's newest entry into the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). It's on Disney+ and it is a fascinating bit of fiction to behold. If you haven't already sen it, I highly trecommend you check it out.

Silver Screen / Re: So who wants to go back to theaters?

Yeah, while personally I don't go to the theatre too often, I still like it and would not want it to go away.
Yes, I like to have options. And besides, if everything goes to Streaming, it'll be real easy for the companies to censor and ban works they deem "politically unaccaptable".

There's been a big push for Streaming lately, what with the Coronavirus, and... I can't say I'm comfortable with it. I really enjoy the theater experience and hope it survives this.

I've recently rewatched this one, and honestly, I found the entire subplot with the blocked water source way, WAY more engaging than the bully subplot with Hyp, Mutt, and Nod, and honestly, I don't think either one ended up being as fleshed out and explored as they should have been.

I think I'd have liked "The Time of the Great Giving" to have focused more on the flood story and flesh out Daddy Tops and Cera's plotline more. A more nuanced look at the pros and cons of Topsy's hardline "YOU WILL WAIT YOUR TURN AND DRINK SPARINGLY, NO EXCEPTIONS!" vs. the more generous approach Littlefoot's Grandparents wanted to take.

Then the bullies could have been saved for a hypothetical film between "The Time of the Great Giving" and "The Valley of Mists" where they could be put in a story that didn't feel like it was competing with them for screentime dominance.

Speaking as someone who hated how you were basically forced to lose at the end of ME3, I'd love if they finally fixed that problem.

Silver Screen / Re: So I've been watching the old Disney classics.

If there is one thing I can admire about Classic Disney, it's the quality of their creations.  Even if I end up hating it for one reason or another, I have to give them credit for all the hard work they put into it.  There's no denying that Classic Disney knew what they were doing.  Even when they went into Experimental Territory, they did a good job.  It's part of what made their Classic Movies Timeless.  It's part of why so many people love Classic Disney, even to this day.
Oh, yes. Like I said in the OP, a lot of their stuff holds up on a technical level more than more recent animated works. It's insane how they perfected the technique even before other people perfected the technology.

I agree! The animation in Fantasia was gorgeous, not to mention the backgrounds from Bambi. As much as I love 3D animation, I have to admit that 2D animation just hits different.  :littlefoot:)
You wouldn't a scene with a bunch of mushrooms dancing would be so entertaining, but it is. And it of course "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" is the essential Mickey Mouse short.

The ones the Disney brothers and the Nine Old Men worked on (Snow White, Pinocchio, Fantasia, etc.) and man, the animation is fiendishly smooth. It holds up better than most stuff that's been animated between now and then despite being so much older. I can scarcely believe human hands animated these movies. The insane amount of work and polish that went even into the first one, Snow White, is insane. The complexity of the facial expressions alone is a technical marvel.

I'm a bit more skeptical on it. Mainly that they will dumb down the humor the original was known for.
I know so many people who thinks that's what is going to happen.

Sure thing, but give me a couple weeks. I'm also running another one of these on another forum, which is why I slipped up a few times on this one.
