As the subject says, what genre of music do you have the most of or find yourself listening to the most often?

A good majority of what I have are movie soundtrack scores and instrumental albums.  There's something about the masterful work of Williams, Horner, Hisaishi, Newton-Howard, Powell, Rodgers and Hammerstein, (and many others) which make each piece either move with energy or move to tears.  Its like you're in a huge concert hall that was set just for you and you got a special VIP performance of a masterpiece.

I think its all those years in concert bands and orchestras that make me fond of this type of style and work because it takes many talented individuals to pull this off.    :D

[biasty]the best band in the world[/biasty]

Linkin Park is a band that started in 1996 technically, the band as is was formed in roughly 1999, they are a band with styles of their own kind, sure they're Rock/Rap/Techno in a bland, blunt statement, but they try to break the boundaries of music, and, to me anyway, they succeeded, their most well known tracks are In The End and Numb, to know more their site is simply http://www.linkinpark.com there you can view all of their videos except their slough from Reanimation, which they made a video for each track

their most recent release was May 15, 2007, with Minutes to Midnight

for more fan-based info go to http://www.lpfuse.co.uk/ they're on top of it ;)

I would have to be counted to the soundtrack listeners you mentioned Petrie. James Horner, Howard Shore, James Newton Howard, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and Randy Edelman wrotes most of the music I really enjoy. Much of Mike Batt's work is very beautiful too in my opinion.
Apart from soundtracks there are many, many old tunes I really like. I seem to have a particular fondness for Scotish and Irish music. Very often I'm associating something with the music I'm listening to. Perhaps this the reason why I like some tunes usually refered to in history books :lol
I love to sing and whistle, something very rare over here (and considered as kind of strange). Therefore I prefer music which has a distinctive melody which can be sung or whistled while I'm nos so fond of the loud kind of music which can not be "immitated" by a human voice.

New Order, New Order, New Order, and so on :D
I more of an indie kind of guy. Just love most of the great brit rock bands from the 80's, like Joy Division, New Order, Happy Mondays, The Cure, The Smiths, etc.
As for more current tastes, I like Artic Monkeys, Arcade Fire, The Klaxons, The Kills, Explosions in the Sky, 30 seconds to mars, Bloc Party, and so on

For even more alternative takes, I like jazz, blues and celtic music =P Although these depend on my state of mind.

As for metal, I have a lot of metalhead friends so sometimes I end up going allong to concerts, I like to listen to some bands live, mostly because of all that ambience surrounding them, I can't listen to metal on a cd or mp3.

Yup, I expecifically like the base, a rock band with a good base finds it way into my CD collection with no problems :D
Although I don't have any Artic Monkeys album

There's so many variations of rock out there....classic, soft, hard, Christian....which do you favor?  I can handle the classic and soft rock stuff, but I find the hard rock stuff is just too loud for my taste and for the fact I'm not a religious one, no Christian rock.

I like indie and alternative rock. I also like classic and soft, anything mellow or with a good rythim, as long as the base is alright and you can understand the lyrics (these can't suck either =P).

And also opera rock, I just love the musical Jesus Christ Superstar :D
