Hey All,
I have decided to start a topic dedicated to databasing the LBT TV series as it is produced.  Unfortunately, I missed episode 1, as did everyone else here so I will post it the next time it comes on the air.

Until then, I'll keep a running list of LBT TV episodes on this topic as well as a temporary download link to an AVI video of the episode (low quality of course, for legal and storage space reasons).  If the link expires, I will not be updating the link.  If you wish to receieve a copy of the video after the link has expired, PM, e-mail, or MSN me your request and I will send it to you when I can.

Everyone, you Will need DivX support in order to play these videos, as I compressed them with DivX.

Episode 1: Unknown Title
Unknown Description
No download link

Episode 3: The Star Day Celebration
Ruby misses her family on her 'Star Day' (aka. Birthday) and the Gang tries to help cheer her up by being true friends and bringing Ruby her favorite food.

Contains 2 songs:
"Remembering" sung by Ruby
and a happy-go-lucky celebration song near the end of the episode (unknown title), sung by the Gang of....Seven... (that still sounds strange to me).
Download Link: Expired

Well, this was... interesting. Did that anklyosaurus get drunk on the juice from those grape-like fruits? And did Ruby's family all get killed?  You don't see things like that on the disney channel, that's for sure. Since we can all see this, I don't see any need to place a spoiler warning.

EDIT: It isn't clear whether Ruby's family is dead or not, but that anklyosaurus was probably intoxicated from having way too many... fruits (I think we had a discussion on this in a much earlier thread.)

...drunken dinos...

...the slaughter of entire families...

....as morbid as it is to say that, I say this show's looking up. The episode was almost more like the original movie than any of the sequels have been. A definite plus.

Its...not bad.

It will not let me download the episode.

Edit: Okay now it's downloading. I had to create an account before I could download.

Well, legally, I do know this. As long as this downloading doesn't interfere with Universal's ability to make money from their copyright, it is technically legal (with the exception of claiming that we own a copyright which we don't own.) Anyway, this is why its is...acceptable to download taped episodes, but NOT okay to download ripped dvds (remember the Betamax decision; taping shows is legal, showing them to one's friends is legal; selling taped shows out on the street is illegal.) As it is, copyright holders can be very protective of what they own, and like to take undue action to defend their property, even if the copyright law is technically not being violated. This is why a temporary link is a good idea.

How would the download of a single episode have any impact on the company itself? I do not see how a single download link could jeopardize Universal in any way.

I never actually heard this. I thought companies considered any downloading to be illegal, regardless if its taped or on a dvd. But whether or not it's okay does not stop people from doing it. Does this mean these people who download are bad? Nope, not at all.

I'm not sure all companies are like that. Some just might see places like YouTube and PutFile as a good thing because it's sort of like free advertisement. It costs money to put a trailer, even a small one, on TV, but costs nothing to allow some people to post different copies of the trailer on YouTube or PutFile. In a way, this allows more people to see the trailer, and thus, allows more people to become interested. The same thing goes for music videos.

So while it is illegal, downloading/viewing videos online doesn't always have a negative impact on the company; it can have a positive impact too.

Temporary links are good to a certain extent. They do get the job done; but the negative part about them is this: it only stays up for a short amount of time, and thus anyone who wanted to download the vid cannot because they missed the deadline.

I experienced the negative side of temp links when I sent someone a music video, and had to reupload it because when they got the message, the link already expired.

See the Betamax decision. That's why taping shows is legal, but recording movies from a theater isn't.

You didn't mention the theatre bit earlier. You just said recording a ripped DVD was illegal. But yes I already knew about that part then. Recording things on a dvd isn't illegal either, especially with DVD Recorders out now. But recording straight from a movie theatre is. It's called bootlegging, isn't it?

I assumed that the illegality of theater recording was common knowledge. Yes, it is called bootlegging to sell copyrighted property without authorization. DVD ripping and  movie theater recording are illegal, but taping a show is legal (once again, see the Betamax decision.)

I was told that ripping a DVD to put on the computer was legal as long as you owned that DVD, and as long as you didn't distribute it for profit.

Okay, that much is true; when one buys a DVD, they buy the right to view that piece of material for themselves, and in order to protect that right, they can copy it to their computer. It isn't legal to distribute bootleg DVDs though.

Legal or illegal the truth is we all want to see the episodes, no one cares about this, and nothing is going to happen.
I'm hip, I'm cool. I'm a happening fool

Don't worry; we're marginally legally safe, and no one will probably do anything anyway.

I think as long as we eventually watch the ep. on TV and then buy the official DVD that Universal releases, we should be fine and make up for watching an illegal version. Just my view. I'm against this kind of thing, generally, and when I do do it, I always end up buying the real thing to make up for the crime, so to speak.

Also those of us not from an English speaking country may not even be able to ever watch the series in any other way. So far there is no indication of the series being translated to other languages (and many would prefer the English original anyway). Apparently there are two DvDs of Curious George including LBT TV series episodes. However, we have no idea how many episodes are on the DvDs. It is as likely as not (or more likely not considering the number and legth of the sequels altogether) that only some were selected for the DvD. It wouldn't be the first time for only some sequels of a series to make it onto a DvD.
I haven't watched the Episode II of the series yet. Call me nuts, but I may wait a bit longer. On the one hand this may be because I like the joy of anticipation, even if it is drawn out. On the other hand I confess that I'm a little worried about what I might get to see. I have several tough university exams impending and may not risk any "emotional upheaval" (the term is exaggerating of course, but new LBT movies DO affect my mood one way or another, at least for a while) before the exams are done. Till then I shall not read the discussions of the sequels or participate in them, but I shall once I have more time and leisure :)

Thank you so much Tim for enabeling many of us who might never ever get a chance to watch the series to do just that :yes

Nope, it all played okay for me. Just got done watching.

I must say about the theme song though... why the heck is it in the African style of music!? What is this, The Lion King?

I don't know if I like Ruby very much. Mostly teh character design. Well, I will admit I never liked dinosaurs portrayed with sparse feathers. But maybe she will grow on me. Haha.

I also have to say, I find it doubtful that Ruby's family was killed. Or I should say, there's no real evidence for it. On the contrary, when she and Chomper split up from her family, Red Claw and his raptors actually go after them, not Ruby's family. Although it's possible Red Claw found her family after, I find it more likely that they are just separated and will appear in the Greay Valley in a later episode.

Anyway, for the most part, I love it!!! Man, I am so glad we have these eps available. Thank you for making it downloadable!!
