Here is a game called Mafia.
Here are the rules:- There are 10 people.
- There are 3 Mafia members.
- There is is one Guardian Angel.
- There is one detective.
- Each night, the 3 Mafia members decide to kill one person. The Guardian angel then decides on who to save. Then the detective asks God if a person is mafia or not.
- I am God until I relinquish position.
- God is all-knowing, but powerless. (Game only)
- Each morning, the people decide to lynch one person.
- There is a vote on who is lynched. Someone is accused of being Mafia, and then that person defends himself.
I need 10 people. Who is in? I will do the Mafia, Guardian Angel, and Detective discussions with PM. It is an awesome game. I will give more specific rules when I get enough people.
-
haha, I played a variation of this in real life back in high school. It is actually quite fun. :yes
I'm game! B)
-
Can you help me explain the rules?
-
It sounds like the game I played was simpler than what we have going here, but I'll give it a shot. We never had guardian angels but they don't seem to complicate things too much. I should be fine for helping explain it if anything arises. You covered the basics of the game fine in your first post.
-
It isn't complicated. It is easy.
-
you seem to make pretty macabre games sir...
-
They are games I played at camp. Here is a funny game.
The Game
Rule One: you are always playing the game
Rule Two: If you think about the game, you lose
Rule Three: If you lose, you must announce it loudly.
Rule Four: After you lose, you get thirty minutes in which you cannot lose.
Rule Five: If you die while in that grace period, you will forever lose the game.
Rule Six: You win if you die on your birthday.
I LOSE!

Here is one of the ways you can die in Mafia.
You go to Starbucks. You get coffee, but a Mafia member slips some sleeping medication in the drink. You begin to drive, but you then fall asleep. You swerve onto the wrong side of the road. You get hit by a truck driven by a Mafia member. You die.
God thinks up how people die. Anyways, what is wrong with macabre games?
-
If I understand/recall this game correctly, each round goes:
1)The mafia chooses WHO to kill, but not HOW to kill them?
2) God tells this person how he died.
3) The Angels randomly pick a person to save, and hope it's the same person that the Mafia is trying to kill?
4) The detectives pick a person who they think committed the murder (somebody on the Mafia).
5)The person suspected needs to defend him/herself.
6) God informs the detective whether or not they are correct.
Proceed to Step 1 until all people are killed or all mafia are caught.
-
I play it differently. The detective investigates at night, before everybody wakes up. The angels pick someone to save at night, the mafia chooses who to kill, and then it is morning.
God tells everybody how the person died.
Townspeople accuse someone, then the accused people defend themselves, and the accused with the most votes is killed. God then informs the townspeople if they actually killed a Mafia member.
-
Hmm..
If the townspeople vote on who is killed, what is the role of the detective? To inquire the townspeople to find out who the mafia are?
-
The detective should try to lobby for people who he discovered to be mafia members.
-
IMPORTANT: I have decreased the number of people from 25 to 10.
