I'm conducting a inquiry here into how many people know and liked the old "Animorphs" books, written from 1996-2001 by K.A. Applegate and some ghostwriters. If enough people know it and like it, I will look into making an RP based on that book series.
-
Does anyone else even know what the Animorphs book series was? I used to read it quite a bit...
-
I'm familiar with it. I used to read the books when I was younger, but never finished the series. I probably read a little more than 10 books and that's it, plus a couple other books a bit later on.
-
Oh. Okay, that's fine. I didn't read the whole series myself either.
-
I've read a few books.
-
It is an older series... it began 13 years ago... and ended a little over 8 years ago... still, it has some fans...
-
I've read quite a few of the books, but never managed to collect the whole series.
-
I've read a few of them, but that was a long time ago..
-
Does anyone think that they could play as one of those characters if they wanted to?
-
I don't have the books on me so I doubt I could play as any of the fc's. The only one who's name I recall is Tobias (I think his name is) and he was in hawk (or some other bird) form to long. The rest I have no memory of, just some bits of plots here and there.
-
Ok. That's fine. If we DO get an RP going, it doesn't have to have the original characters at its helm.
-
I was a massive Animorphs fan back in junior high. I read all of them, including the extra books that weren't part of the storyline. I really didn't like the ending to the final book.
Sadly, I don't have enough time to join a new RP, as college will be starting back up soon. I wish you all luck, though!
-
O_O I loved this show and the books as a kid! You can count me in...I actually had a few of the episodes on VHS for a while.
-
I didn't know they did it as a tv show.
-
Alright GVG. That's good to hear. I'm not sure whether it is best to place it here or on my own site... http://z6.invisionfree.com/Fantasy_RP_Boar...dex.php?act=idx (http://z6.invisionfree.com/Fantasy_RP_Board/index.php?act=idx)
If I get more people for it here than my new site, then it will be on the GoF.
-
^^ Yes, it was a short lived TV show Kor, but it was certainly entertaining for those who remember it.
^ Actually Noname, I'd post it on both...just in case and for the sake of ease.
-
On BOTH forums? You mean the exact same RP, or two different ones based on the same topic?
As it is, my board is fantasy more than sci-fi, but I can bend it a bit, especially because of the non-scientific elements in the Animorphs series (Ellimist, Crayak, Drode, etc)
-
Keeping the RP the same on both forums may be slightly easier in my opinion, but it is your RP, and with your website being mostly Sci-fi, how you run the game is ultimately your call. But I do have faith in your abilities and am sure that whatever you choose, you'll be a grand GM.
-
Thank you for the advice... although... how exactly do you propose to have the same one? Not the same text, of course... you mean, have the same topic?
And my site is mostly Fantasy, NOT sci-fi.

it's a great series, i'm in the middle of reading "Visser"
-
If you are interested, I am happy to DM that game as well... but we will keep it only a month in length, real-time. If we REALLY like it, we can make a longer-lasting sequel.
-
Keeping it real time sounds like a plausible idea, however before we begin we should also take into account that some of the players tend to have things to do on certain days and may not be around for two or three days at a time...but I'm confident we'll find a way around that issue.
-
Hmm... we'd have to find a good month for the players... and ask them if they anticipate anything happening in real life which would take up a lot of their time.
-
On BOTH forums? You mean the exact same RP, or two different ones based on the same topic?
It's not that uncommon. Serris did that with Darwin's Soldiers. Here (http://forums.furtopia.org/index.php?topic=33419.0) it is on Furtopia, a completely different forum, with the exact same premise. He even played the same character, at least at the beginning.
-
Well, I have no problems with the same setting in two different sites, but I prefer the premise to be different, like my two RPs here have the same setting, but different premise, or at least, the same universe, different time and different characters.
I can't see why he would do that, but... it would make a "parallel universe" in my RP... kinda hard to keep track of, and not very conducive toward story telling. But that's just my take on it.
-
Actually, in regards to Darwin's Soldiers they were originally just two different stories, branching out independant of each other. It was later discovered in my story Card of Ten that the Furtopia RP was indeed the anti-matter universe, relative to the GOF RP, which is our universe. It serves to make the world of the RP bigger, I think. :)
-
Heh. Sounds like an explanation for why there are two different continuities. As I said, some people like it, I don't. It's cool either way.
