I finally decided to post an idea for a project I had in mind for quite some time now.
Well, the idea is to voice the characters of TLBT. This means:
- picking a movie to do the project(I'd like to start with the Original :))
- cast members( who will voice which character?), that'd mean the members who are interested in this project would have to send me some lines of all needed characters( I/we would choose the lines, e.g. Littlefoot's Mother: "Let your heart guide you..."). The recordings of your voices would be posted here so that everyone can help me to decide who is the best choice for a certain character( e.g. I wouldn't be a good choice for Ducky, I guess :P:).
- After all 'voice actors' had been casted, those voice actors have to record all lines of their character( I think this is the easiest way, isn't it? A live recording very likely won't work after all :confused ) and send it to me or post it here so that I can complete the project...
There is a problem[/u][/b] though... Neither do I have the knowledge and the skills nor the programs to do the project... I hope someone can declair his/her willingness to do this :exactly We need someone who is able to replace the original voices of the voice actors by our recordings of our voices.
I hope this will work, I really think it would strengthen the community :yes
So what do you guys think? :)
EDIT: Iris(Mumbling)will do the computer stuff I'm not able to do :)
Feel free to send any auditions to Mumbling through Discord or by email via thelionqueen@live.nl
Here's the script: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n9Lb5eAjHI7sSLEoIWH3ck69h4fDFeP_WMIwS1WZ6BA/edit
Edit: Just updated all the information - Mumbling

I think it is fine.
-
This could work. We had an audio book project for a while, that didn't work out so well. We could make it work with the first movie (I have all the editing skills necessary). The problem being however that there are a lot of lines. Perhaps starting with a shorter story, such as one of the tv series, would be easier to accomplish.
-
Or if you don't want to try to tackle a whole episode maybe a short scene, from a movie or tv episode so everyone involved will know what it's like and what's involved in doing this sort of thing.

So you would do the editing, Iris? Biggest problem fixed, yep, yep, yep :)
I agree that we should start with something shorter than the original. Refering to Kor's idea I suggest to use the original but to do scene after scene, not necessarily chronological. We could start with a scene like the scene where Littlefoot, Ducky, Petrie and Spike managed to get food together while Cera didn't manage to get food until Littlefoot helps Cera... I think this scene is interesting to start with since we'd have the main cast( the Gang) in it so we can choose the voice actors for the most important characters first :yes
-
Right, in that case you'd have to find suitable voice actors and make a list of who is to say what ;)
-
Right, in that case you'd have to find suitable voice actors and make a list of who is to say what wink.gif
Alright, so I ask the obvious question :lol Who would like to voice a character? I can't promise you'll get the character you wish to have, your voice should (veeeeeeeeeery roughly) sound like the character you'd like to voice ;)
Furthermore, which scene would you like to start with? It should be from the original movie if possible :yes
Maybe we can do a poll to vote on suitable scenes to start with :yes
-
This all sounds good!
-
I am willing to join in, I have a relatively deep female voice. I guess I could also pass for a young guy. Give me any character that suits :)
Perhaps you can edit your first post with the characters playing in the first movie and combine those with interested members.
-
I'd be interested!
-
I'm willing to give this a shot, considering I can do quite a lot of voices (despite my middle baritone voice)! I'd be willing to play Petrie, if possible. I can really do it!
EDIT: I'm considering playing the few lines that Cera's Dad has as well...
-
I'd be interested to be Rooter...
-
Wow! So many are interested :wow You're great guys :exactly

Then maybe Littlefoot's Mother would be the best option for you, Iris :)

Good idea :yes
-
My voice is fairly deep baritone, so I'm not sure it's fit any of the characters. Would love to contribute if I could, though.
-
I'd be up for it! What better chance to get in on a LBT movie than to am-dram the voices. My voice is fairly flexible to a point. Apparently I do a good impression of Mo which is odd considering how high his voice is. Kinda middle toned, male voice but willing to have a go at stretching to fit the character. Anyone from the kids to the adults; I don't mind. :D
-
Sure, this sounds like a cool project! I have a fairly deep female voice, but like Iris, could do a young male, and can also push up the pitch a bit. I'm not too sure of what character I could do, though.
-
To those of you who are not sure which character your voice might fit best yet: I'll write your names under the character list as 'still undecided'. I think we should wait one to two weeks and then start to plan the project. I will start a poll about which scene to start with at the weekend so we could concentrate on one scene of the Original movie (there are 16 after all :DD). The only question I have atm is: Just voting here in this topic (every participant of this topic having one, two or three votes?) or starting a poll where, technically, members who don't participate in this project can vote, too?
-
Making it a poll for everyone seems to be the most reasonable option here.
-
I've just prepared the very first part of the movie (with all the kids being born and the narrator) just to see how much work it'll be. I'll show the results later on. Low quality of course since we shouldn't be sharing too much or the GoF may be in danger.
Edit:
Alright, here goes nothing:
Audio only: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=969B5ucfZUU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=969B5ucfZUU)
Example how voice-over would be put on by me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkiPijCHy2I (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkiPijCHy2I)
PS: Narrator voice starts about 2:20 in normally.
PPS: Ignore the youtube account, I don't want another strike from universal so I uploaded it to one of my less important accounts.
What do you think?
-
I guess I can try my hand at Grandpa.
-
Wait is this even legal to do? Since this is owned by Universal.
-
Wait is this even legal to do? Since this is owned by Universal.
-
No, we're all going to jail for doing this.
It's a fanproject. Sharing the movie or the music would be illegal in a sense, but since we all own copies of the dvd it can't hurt. It'll stay inside our boundaries and well, it's not like we're earning money off it.
-
That's true we're not getting paid for this I just hope this is safe so no legal actions are gonna occur.
-
The vids are fine, you did a great job :)
You'd be a great narrator (narratress? :DD), Iris :yes
Though I think, generally, females are more likely to play the child characters than males due to their higher voices... so I'd rather suggest that a male member will be the narrator :) After all the LBT narrators always are males :DD
On top of that I doubt that any male can voice Ducky (except he is very young) :p
No, we're all going to jail for doing this.
Well, they first have to find us :P:

My thoughts exactly :yes
Loyfe: I just realised the only thing Grandpa actually does is laughing/giggling when Littlefoot yawns  So we actually can leave him out... If we do the sequels, he'd appear more :) There you could have him...
(Do we need Grandpa, Iris?)
-
Well I'm not sure I can do any of the main cast, I would be more than happy to do Pterano for you if you want if we ever get to the seventh movie. XD I voiced him in Vonboy's table readings, and can do a pretty good Michael York. :yes
-
I'm not sure if Grandpa or Grandma have any lines at all, it's been too long since I've seen the entire movie. I'll try to track it for you though :)
-
No, they don't have any lines in the first film. They have a scene where they're chuckling at Littlefoot playing with the treestar, but that's it.
-
Thanks for that info! I suppose we can scrap those roles for the first movie then :)
-
If you still need a voice, I'd be interested. I sound like a hyperactive tween most of the time, but I can tone it down. I can do young or older girls voices, or even young male voices - that is, if by young you mean about until their voices change XDD can't go that low. I'm fairly flexible with most accents, and I can attempt some low, sober, tenors :)
-
Hmm...I'd probably serve as a better narrator than the ones we have in the franchise (well, despite their ages. RIP to both of them). I might narrate as well. I'm not sure yet.
-
Alright, the Grandparents aren't needed then :)
-
Gotcha. Well, other than a very different take on the narrator, I don't see any roles in the first movie that I'd fit into. Oh well.
-
PS the videos have already been taken down lol.
Thanks Universal, we hate you too <3
-
Man that was fast. Are they this tight fisted with all their copyrights?
-
I'm not sure, but they sure are picking on LBT. Not sure why, as they don't even sell their stuff anymore and they don't claim ad revenue... They just straight-out delete it.
-
I think I could give the Narrator a shot. Maybe with a good Patrick Steward impresson or something. :smile
-
I have made a document that anyone can view with what is said in the movie:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n9Lb5eA...dit?usp=sharing (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n9Lb5eAjHI7sSLEoIWH3ck69h4fDFeP_WMIwS1WZ6BA/edit?usp=sharing)
Feel free to let me know if I should correct something I heard wrong.
Also, I have created a skype group for those interested so that we can have conversations about it without spamming the gof or the gof live chat :p If you wish to be part of that group please send me your skype name :)
-
But what if someone doesn't have Skype? :)
-

Almost treating it like a stain. I'm surprised Universal hasn't started harassing Don Bluth by now.
-
If no one's taken it, I'd give either Littlefoot or Petrie a go (given the choice, I'd go for Littlefoot). Probably won't sound anything like the originals but hey, I'll give it a shot.
-
But what if someone doesn't have Skype? :)
You can still post here, don't worry! :) Anything important will still be said in this topic for everyone to follow.
-
Re-uploaded scene 1 and uploaded scene 2 to Vimeo:
1: https://vimeo.com/69384972 (https://vimeo.com/69384972)
2: https://vimeo.com/69384859 (https://vimeo.com/69384859)
PS: Scene 2 was done less professionally, but if you guys still find it sounding ok I will continue this way. It saves me lots of time.
-
Well, there's no doubt that scene 2 sound worse than scene 1 where wasn't any issues I think while the second one indeed sounds less professional... I don't know if we can hear the difference at all because the voices (hopefully) will be louder than the soundtrack in the background. You're doing this, Iris... If you'd rather like to stick to the unprofessional way I won't say no but the professional more time needing way sounds better... I won't decide yet. What about the others??
-
If it turns out to sounds horrible, I can always try to do certain scenes the way I did in the first scene. :yes
-
Then you keep doing it like scene 2 and if it sounds terrible with the dubbing you'd do certain scenes like scene 1? Sounds like a plan ;)
-
I might be able to do Cera.
-
That's cool Zimmy :)
BTW: No action from me doesn't mean this is dead :) I have some problems with my recording equipment and there's so much to do even though I have summer holidays now <_<
-
Though I sound too old to be her :lol .
-
I'm sorry, I've recently realised I may not be able to comply. I don't think I have the right equipment. At the very least I don't know how to operate it. :cry
-
If you have a laptop you most likely have a microphone built into it. If you have a headset with a microphone that most likely works even better :) I will make a little guide later on which will show you how to easily record with any microphone.
-
OK, thanks.
-
Ah, a guide would be great :wow Having some problems myself.
-
The grandparents have a ton of lines in the movies. Don't know where you got that from.
-
^Indeed but we were only talking about the Original movie :)
-

With bloopers:

Little explanation for the bloopers one:
We recorded this in several sessions. Once you get to the 'have you seen the great valley?' part, and we start laughing really hard.... Well, let's just say I was staring Littlefoot straight in the eyes, turning my neck like a reaaaaaal loooooongneck. :P:
PS: It may still be processing, cus Vimeo is a *bleep*service <3
-
Haha :DD
Funny yet well-done!
-
Gotta admit, even for just larking about, that was great fun! :DD Suppose I need to pull my finger out and actually do it for real next time. :D
-
yeah... I feel a little guilty because I haven't really done anything for this project in a while... that and I still need to search for my recording equipment which I haven't used in ages so its whereabouts is unknown :(
Sorry for my inactivity :oops
-
No worries! I'll get a video up soon explaining how to best take care of the recording.
-
Okay! Sounds good :)
-
Here's a little video guide on how to record your voice :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_VI9SwTwqw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_VI9SwTwqw)
1. Get your microphone and plug it into your computer. Most laptops have build-in mics, but an external mic is almost always better quality.
2. Get Goldwave, a free recording program.
3. Do a test recording to make sure that your microphone works.
4. Talk along with the movie, print the script if necessary: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n9Lb5eA...dit?usp=sharing (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n9Lb5eAjHI7sSLEoIWH3ck69h4fDFeP_WMIwS1WZ6BA/edit?usp=sharing)
5. Save the file as your name - scene - littlefoot.wav (no need to install any codecs for mp3 or the like)
6. Send the files to me. Just contact me and we'll figure out a way to get the files to the right side.
7. Have fun :D
-
Thanks for the guide, Iris :)
However, I'm afraid I won't participate at the actual dubbing due to many reasons I don't like to name now. There are plenty of members who want to participate so I don't need to participate anyway :yes
Anyway, what exactly should everyone record? A test recording in which everyone says some lines of the character(s) they want to dub should be the first step imo to find the best dubber for each character :)
-
yeah sounds like a plan. So if everyone can just record several lines of their preferred character I'd love to receive those.
-
This is probably a stupid question, but what format do we use to send the files? I'm finishing up a trial run of scene six but I am unsure of what I should do next O_o
-
Um, well when you've recorded your voice you can save the file as a .wav and send those to me by mail. For now you can send them to the emailaddress thelionqueen@live.nl, or for those who have me on skype, via skype.
-
Oh wow, this looks like a lot of fun! If it's still going on, I would love to take part :)
-
It's definitely still going on! I've only received a couple of files so far from members who want to participate, so yeah... Feel free to join in! :)
-
Maybe you or I could PM those members who said they'd be interested but haven't sent you one yet...
And welcome to the project, DarkWolf91 :wave
-
Yay, awesome! I will work on sending some files :)
-
As soon as I find time (probably thursday or friday) I'll try to organize everything regarding the project and will make a newly updated list of members participating :)
-
Awesome :DD look forward to it!
-
Okay so the files I've received so far are the following:
Littlefoot:
Ducky: StrutEggStealer
Cera: DarkWolf91
Petrie: The Anonymous Person
Mother Longneck:
Narrator: The Anonymous Person
Rooter:
Cera's Father: The Anonymous Person
So, still plenty of space for people who want to join :) I'll audition for Littlefoot's mom myself when I find time.
EDIT:
As I've only rendered scene 1 and 2 without vocals so far, I've only been able to use DarkWolf's recording for cera in the following clip:
https://vimeo.com/76607648 (https://vimeo.com/76607648) (It'll take 40 minutes to process from the moment I post this, but I thought I'd share the link already in case I forget later on)
I will now start working on rendering the other scenes voiceless :)
-
I was pretty sure I sent some files, too, but either I lied or they must not work for you. I'll try again when I have the time, probably this weekend or so.
-
Oh woops! I already had the feeling that I forgot someone. You were the first to send files TAP, they were pretty far back in my inbox already! I received your new files and will take a look at both the old and new for the audition video :)
-
So, bump I guess :angel
I've just talked about this project with Mumbling. We still need at least two more files (Littlefoot & Rooter). Mumbling will do Littlefoot's Mother.
For Littlefoot, we have Littlefoot1616 and somerandomfangirl (write out me :p)
For Rooter, we have Dosu2Dinner
And I've seen that Belmont2500 showed interest in the role of the narrator.
-
*Raises hand* I can do a pretty good Littlefoot voice..even though I'm a girl...
Shorty was voiced by a woman in the TV episode..so was Rhett. So really, can I try for Littlefoot too?
Let me know if yes and I'll send an audition.
Though Littlefoot will suddenly have an Australian accent...xD would that be okay
-
I still need any audition for Littlefoot so feel free to send in something, Nahla!
-
Sure,do I just pick a scene and voice Littlefoot for it? Or do I get given one?
Also I'm gonna practice a few days if thats okay, saying a few words in 'Littlefoot voice' is one thing, adding emotion is another. I'll have it in by Friday or Saturday,as I am supposed to go with my mum and go house looking on Friday as our current one is up for sale and we don't want to stay in it if we change owners. Not sure how long it will take so if not Friday I'll send it Saturday morning. My time anyway.
Also should I just upload it to SoundCloud and link,or do I send it direct to someone?
-
Take your time, I'm kind of busy with exams etc. anyway. There are instructions on how and where to send your audition somewhere in this topic... :p
Anyway, it would be nice if you could do something from the first two scenes since I have got those two prepared. You can send them to my emailaddress thelionqueen@live.nl
-

Better save than sorry ;)
I'm glad that you're going to voice Littlefoot :D
Oh, first two scenes means Littlefoot's birth (where Littlefoot doesn't speak at all anyway) and the Littlefoot playing with his Treestar bit, the Littlefoot & Cera bit and Littlefoot's mother explaining things to Littlefoot (Why can't I play with that Threehorn etc.) until the scene fades out. The rest, we'll do later.
-
Though Littlefoot will suddenly have an Australian accent...xD w
Aussie Littlefoot FTW!
I can't wait to see the end result of all this.
-
Wow this looks really fun :)
I wish I could contribute but I don't have the equipment.
Ah well I really would've like to do Icky if we ever got to lbt 4
Then again this project is probably not even goin on anymore
-
I don't think it is going to ever work out I'm afraid :(
-
It takes up a lot of time to 'remove' voices from a scene manually, and when I do it automatically you still hear traces here and there. Sadly enough, time is one of those things I don't have these days. Graduating next year, maybe if I happen to be jobless for forever I'll pick it up again ;)
-
Just let me know when you have graduated and then we'll do it! :D If there's still enough interest in this project, that is :)
-
Hey @Ducky123 remember when you said I should let you know when I have graduated? Well I did, 2.5 years ago, got a full-time job and even less time... But more than willing to resume this project. Thanks to Vimeo I still have those first two scenes ready to go and I can probably find most sound recordings in my inbox. Just gonna tag the people who originally showed interest, though I realize many of them are no longer around:
Littlefoot: @Littlefoot1616 , @Nahla , @somerandomfangirl
Ducky: @StrutEggStealer
Cera: @DarkWolf91
Petrie: @The Anonymous Person
Mother Longneck: me!
Narrator: @Belmont2500
Rooter: @Dosu2Dinner
Cera's Father: @The Anonymous Person
Let's see if anyone is still interested and if we can get this on the road properly.
-
I probably have no talent but I'm still down if you take the lead, Iris! :DD
-
Might as well try and give this a shot. Could be a lot of fun! :)littlefoot
-
Awesome! Listening back to our admin attempt, I have no talent either, Ducky, so don't worry too much :P It's mostly about having fun and making something silly together.
Cool Flathead! I'll try to set some stuff up today. Try to make something of these last few vacation days I got :D
-
Whoa,interesting project you have here!
I think I can take role of Sharptooth only.XD Or Spike... :^^spike
Anyway: Is there a program than not only records your voice but also changes it to childish one in good quality?
-
Pitch changes can also be done in Goldwave, though I can't guarantee it will sound very good. It's best if you guys send me the 'raw' files to work with so I can do some post-editing here.
I've been working all morning on making a workable movie file and editing in some of the auditions that I got back in the day. I'd like to share the following with you for consideration (and my opinion between brackets):
Narrator + mom: https://vimeo.com/321960534 (This was narrated by The Anonymous Person. I personally think the narrator should have a deeper voice. Me as mom works, though I have to work on my pronunciation :P )
Petrie: https://vimeo.com/321963669 (This is great, do you want to take this role, TAP?)
Ducky: https://vimeo.com/321962886 (I think StrutEggStealer did a wonderful job, but sadly she is no longer around)
Cera: https://vimeo.com/76607648 (old upload, so slightly different quality. I think Darkwolf is excellent at Cera, would love to see her cast as such)
-
Cool that this project is still going! Kinda thought it'd be abandoned by now with everyone's busy lives and such, but glad to see this is not the case. :)
@Mumbling, I must've recorded those auditions like five years ago back when I was sorta crap at voice acting (I was 15 at the time), and I've gotten much better since then. Not to mention my voice has become slightly deeper, so I could have a try at the Narrator yet again, perhaps to show how much I've improved at the very least. Regardless, I'm more than willing to take up Petrie. :)
-
Hey TAP! Good to see you post here :)
'Still going' might be a bit of an exaggeration, but I'd like to revive it best I can. I have the time and energy to make this into something worth watching, given that the rest of the community is willing to jump in and send me their recordings :D
And yes, you sent me those files in mid 2013, so roughly 5.5 years ago. It'd be cool to see how you've changed/improved! If you have the time and patience to send me some new files, that'd be awesome. Personally I think you did Petrie really well, and you were a bit too hasty for the narrator. But I'd love to hear both :)
By now I've got a fully workable file so we are no longer limited to the first 2 scenes. Feel free to send in any part you'd like. My email address is still thelionqueen@live.nl for this project.
-
Cool! I'll see what I can do then. :)
-
I think you should do Petrie Tap :)
Hmm I should try a few characters this weekend. I might be decent as Rooter tbh xD
-

I should say that voice of Petrie here is beyond osomness. :D
And I like Ducky's voice too!
You did great job!
-
Cool! I'll see what I can do then. :)
Cool, looking forward to it!
Hmm I should try a few characters this weekend. I might be decent as Rooter tbh xD
Awesome! If I can get some files today I can still do some editing today/tomorrow before I gotta return to work!
You did great job!
Thanks! :)
-
Aw cool, I'd love to do more work for this! Are there any scenes you'd prefer we do first?
-
Awesome DW! No preference here, I can do any scene at this point, would just need the recordings. No one else has expressed interest in voicing Cera (and I believe the number of female members here is quite low these days anyway), so if you want to take on the full role, go for it! If you want you can send them to me scene by scene (you've sent me scene 2 and one line from 3 as an audition, those were good so no need to send them again), then I can potentially give some feedback for future scenes and edit stuff in as we go.
-
I might be down for trying to voice Littlefoot in any parts where you might need that. My natural voice actually kinda sounds like him, I kid you not :p
-
At this point, I'd like to welcome anyone to send in some recordings, so feel free to send something my way LF505! ^^
-
I do remember that you once created some tracks without the voices back then but do we have a script of all the dialogue somewhere?
-
Yes sir! You can find the script here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n9Lb5eAjHI7sSLEoIWH3ck69h4fDFeP_WMIwS1WZ6BA/edit

Just want to bump this in case anyone feels like recording themselves this week. Still looking forward to any submissions at all to get some editing done soon ;)
-
Which characters are still available? I could take a crack at somebody. Voice-Acting protfolio (https://aabicus.com/voice-acting/)
-
At this point, pretty much everyone. I've recorded all lines for Mother, but I assume you weren't going for that anyway :D Check the first post to see who has expressed interest in which character. But until people actually start sending me some more lines, there's nothing I can do. I believe Rooter hasn't been picked at all as of yet.
-
Sweet, I'm swamped with work at the moment, but I'll put this on my calendar for May. BTW, everyone who signed up in 2014 should be dumped, they're not gonna follow through
-
Yeah maybe, some have still expressed interest by email but have yet to return to the forum. Awesome that you are joining in, aabicus!
-
Hey, sorry for the long absence! I'll try to get some work done on this as soon as I can :D
-
Great, looking forward to it!
-
Well, since Mumbling brought me here, I think I'd express some interest in trying out for Petrie. I have a very good microphone. All I need is to get to have the bedroom to myself for a few minutes so that no one thinks I'm going crazy! :P
-
Sounds good! The script is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n9Lb5eAjHI7sSLEoIWH3ck69h4fDFeP_WMIwS1WZ6BA/edit and you can send the recordings to thelionqueen@live.nl (my email address) when you've got something, so I can edit you into the scenes :D
-
I'll record the lines as soon as I can! ;)
-
I've completed my audition for Petrie. I recorded every single one of his lines (and those noises)! Is there an alternative method I can send you my audio file? I don't use live.nl. I'm a Gmail user.

You should still be able to send me a message, right? Or are the files too big? :) anyway I also have a gmail: claydoodles@gmail.com
Edit: Oh yeah I see you're trying to send me the file through Google Drive. Granting access to the above email address will fix things :D
-
Yeah, I'm somewhat of a noob when it comes to composing emails. :sducky
-
Diddy, these are great! I'll try to work them into the video sometime soon to show them off to everyone else here.
Edit: Here's a quick sample! Helps that you basically have everything properly aligned, thanks for that! I'd be 100% cool with you having the role of Petrie!

Uh, ... w-wow! Me no know what to say! :)petrie LOL!
Now that I've listened to this, I think it's really the first time I've actually felt confident about my voice acting. I was clearly aiming more towards Jeff Bennett than Will Ryan. I had gotten so used to Jeff's Petrie that I had just about forgotten about most of those noises Will's Petrie would make while I was listening to the surround sound track, and also because a friend of mine confided in that he didn't really like Will's voice because he thought it made Petrie sound too old, so I thought I'd go for making him sound as young as he should have sounded. Now that I think about all those original Petrie noises, it makes me look at the original Petrie a bit ... differently than before. No wonder I portray him in my fanfics as not liking to remember his flightless early childhood.
I'm gonna be honest, I'm completely flattered! Thanks for letting me be a part of this project!
-
*biggest thumb up and applauses*
I got sea of positive!!!
Geat job!
-
Wow! That's really impressive! I think it's perfect! :DD
-
Diddy, your Petrie voice is just absolutely adorable! I can only echo the thoughts of what other people here said already. :DD
-
Yeah you completely nailed the voice! Awesome job! :Mo
-
As an additional thought - perhaps it'd be nice to cover 'If we hold on together' again for the final credits. There is a cover already made by the GoF over 12 years ago, but a reboot might be a nice idea with members that are currently active. Do you guys like that idea and would anyone be up for singing it?
-
Great job, Diddy! You did well. :)petrie

Do you suggest that there should be a solo singer, or are you picturing the characters singing it?
Oh, and thanks, everyone! :)petrie I'm so touched!
-
I wasn't thinking of a solo thing, but rather a mix of many voices like we used to do for the singing projects (http://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=1417.0). Would be a nice personal twist to the complete file :)
-
I personally think it'd be cute if I sang it along with whomever gets the roles for Littlefoot, Cera and Ducky. We could each have our own solo at various points during the verses and the bridge, and obviously all four of us would sing the chorus. The McAfee/Curzon version gave me that idea.
My natural singing voice is actually quite ... m-meh. I'm not confident with it. However, my softer Petrie singing voice is actually okay. A few months ago, I recorded myself reciting a scene from one of my own fanfics, as both Petrie and his mother (because I wasn't brave enough to ask anyone else to help me out), and at one point Petrie sings over the Tears for Fears song I placed in the story. The last line of the song, in particular, seemed to have sounded so eerily like Jeff once I listened to it.
So, yeah, I sorta practiced ahead of time before I got myself into this! :)petrie
-
There's not much I can add to what everyone else already said, but still, that was an excellent job there. Well done! You could've done the actual voice in one of the sequels and I wouldn't have thought anything of it. Petrie would be so proud of you.
:)petrie

It's a nice idea - I'm just not sure if we can convince everyone who does a main character voice to sing along. Plus there might be others who wish to sing, but not join into the voice-over. Anyway, just an idea, not necessarily something we have to go along with :)

That's okay with me if we don't have to do it that way. Just thought it'd be cute. :smile
Like I said, I'm not the best singer in the world. If we ever end up doing the sequels, I'd probably be okay trying to do Petrie's singing voice. Preferably, I'd try to mimic his singing from movie 5 onwards. His singing sounded rather low in II, III and IV, and he barely had any solo parts in those movies before The Mysterious Island came out and his singing voice greatly improved, although it probably wasn't until movie 7 when he got his first true solo part in a song ("Good Inside").
-
I don't think you guys need to worry about be able to sing. It's been ages since we've last done a singing project but from what I recall we weren't that good :lol
I'd like to say that I would want to join in on that but given my current track record with my voice acting laziness I'm not sure if I can say that with confidence :p
Could be pretty fun though!
-
Yeah it definitely isn't about quality with the singing projects, haha. Cough. Moreso about making something that is ours, together! :D
-
I've been curious for a while ...
Do you use the stereo track for the movie or do you use a surround sound track?
-
Stereo! Not on purpose, I just don't have access to a surround sound version and I'm not 100% sure if I could easily render that either.
-
I happen to have the surround sound version. :)petrie
And I have quite some experience with surround sound editing on Audacity and Vegas.
-

Ah cool! I am using Vegas Pro 14 for the video editing part and while I'm quite adept at it, I'm afraid I'm rather bad at distinguishing all the different file formats for rendering (so I tend to just go with wmv since that's an easy format to work with). But even if I did know which file format to use, I still don't have the surround sound file to work with.
-
I use Vegas Pro 14.0 as well. I tend to use the MP4 video format, and my preferred audio format is MP3, but WAV will work, too. The audio for this one, though, is in the .ts format, which I'm not sure will work on Vegas, so I'd have to use Audacity for that file. Still, it works. It just takes a while to load because Audacity can be a bit slow with hour-long surround sound files, as was the case while I was getting ready to record Petrie. I opened the surround sound file and muted all the tracks except for the one that had the voices in it so that it'd be easier for me to listen in for those Petrie noises.
Oh, by the way, I can't whistle, so we'd probably have to keep the original whistle in with my spitting.
-
Oh, by the way, I can't whistle...
You're really secretly Petrie, aren't you? ;)

You can DO THIS? Can you do it the other way around too and render a voice-less file? That would be properly amazing, as I've currently just used a very basic program to remove vocals from the track. Doesn't work very well with echos as you heard with Ducky in that clip of yours.

In fact, I can. All I would do is open the file in Audacity, and it'll give me six mono tracks, each containing different portions of the audio, and I would mute the one with the voices in it. I'd probably align our voices first before muting the originals so that everything is in the right place. We'd get perfectly clear music (for the most part) and sound effects.
Oh, and yeah, the echoes can be heard in some of the other tracks, too. I will say, hearing Judith's echo in my sample video gave me chills, well, because we all know what happened to her. :(petrie It felt like listening to someone ... who wasn't even there, because that just so happens to be the truth. She never lived to see this masterpiece. :cry

Amazing! Is there any chance you can just render the file without the vocals and send it to me? I've already got all other voices aligned in Vegas so probably easiest to keep everything in one place.

Poor thing. Her story will haunt me forever. She seemed such a bright and talented young girl. May her soul rest in peace. :(petrie

Sure thing! It'll take a while, though. Like I said, it takes a while just for Audacity to load the file. I'll try to get it sent to you tonight. I'm in a different time zone than you are, so you may find it in your inbox either tonight or first thing tomorrow morning.

:(petrie Yep, yep, yep. :cry

Amazing! I'll try to edit it into the video tomorrow for an even better final product. Thank you so much :D

You're welcome!
I'll also be trying to remove the original echoes, such as the one in the Ducky/Sharptooth scene, so you can add echoes to our own voices. :D The only thing I'll probably keep on is Petrie's whistle, unless we have someone else here who's capable of whistling. :opetrie
-
We'll leave the original whistle in for now, that can be easily edited out later if necessary :) Can definitely not whistle like that :P
-
:(petrie Me wish me could whistle. *sigh*
I'm exporting the audio right now. I couldn't quite get all the echoes out of there (as it would have compromised probably the music with abrupt cuts, which I didn't want), but they're relatively faint, so our voices should be able to drown them out.
Petrie's whistle will be intact. Other than that, the entirety of the voice track has been muted.
-
This sounds like a cool idea!!! I'd like to try out for Rooter I guess. Not sure how it will work considering I'm on android

Awesome! We don't have anyone for Rooter yet so that will be amazing. What device are you working on? :)

Samsung
Update: I found a way to do it. Smart Audio recorder app. I tested it and it works just fine
-
Sent in my Topsy audition. :cerahappy
If TAP returns to dub Topps I'd definitely relinquish the role back to him though since he expressed prior interest.
-
I'm not into voice-over work myself, but I would love to see this when it's done.
:cerahappy
Edit: Although if you guys eventually get around to doing the sequels, I might consider picking up a role.
-
Very cool! Yes I'm very much looking forward to the finished work as well. I'll probably organize a livestream on Discord and put it up on the forum at the same time (if I can find a suitable video host). Once it is done I'm willing to continue with sequels/tv series, the only thing holding me back are the songs haha. Though I guess we can perhaps fill those with GoF singing projects to include more people :)
-
Oh, I wasn't even thinking about the songs when I said that. Hah, well that could be interesting in its own right.
-
I admit, I would be extremely curious to hear people here sing the songs as best as they can. It would certainly be quite an experience for sure. :)

I'm down for a song lol
Leaping Lizards, it's good to be back! Loving the emoji options, too! :PAli
-
@StrutEggStealer Welcome back, buddy! :yes
-
Yay you're back! :D Yes we've worked hard to get some nice new emotes up on the forum and on Discord. Looking forward to continue our collaboration on this project with you ^^
-
Will the people who voice characters in the VO for the 1st movie be reprising roles for future VOs?
Just wondering since me & singing aren't exactly the best mix :lol
And oops...still gotta re-record audition lines :lol
-
I think we'll decide that when and if it happens, haha. Yes, please show us some of that Littlefoot action :D
-
Quick request to put some time into this project if you have holidays coming up and have some time to spare! @DarkWolf91 @UnionRags123 @StrutEggStealer @Belmont2500 @The Anonymous Person
-
I might have to withdraw from the project...my headphones are messed up so volume inputs and outputs aren't fully working :(petrie
shakes fist at headphones :lol
-
Just get new ones? :PAli
-
Yes! Sorry, it appears my holidays this year have not been very relaxing unfortunately
@Mumbling, I will just have to record Ducky's additional lines, correct? I will get that done asap!
-
Yep yep yep! Awesome, thank you Strut! :D
-
We magically got all lines for Littlefoot done! This means only Cera and the Narrator need to be completed now, after which I can reveal the final product to you all.
After discussing things with Vojeds, we've decided to go ahead with @Belmont2500 as the narrator! This means all roles are now officially filled. Thanks to everyone who sent in an audition recording and hopefully I can update you all soon with OUR VERY OWN VOICE-OVER :)
-
Can't wait to see the final product Mumbling! :Mo :^^spike
-
It's happening :duckyhappy
-
Sorry for the wait on the last half of Cera's lines! I keep running into setbacks and losing my weekend free time x.x
I'll get them done as soon as possible!
-
I understand you're busy with the move Mumbling, but is there any status update to this project? :chompysmile
Don't worry if you want to put it off until things settle down, I'm just curious as to the status. :)
-
Just waiting for some final lines from Darkwolf and then it's a wrap! :)
-
Hehe Petrie snuck in at the last minute with one line in the entire film. XD
-
Don't suppose there has been any update on the remaining lines to be recorded?
I know I'm not one to talk seeing as I, myself, held up production due to my..err... not-doing-ness :rhett_smile
Still, I'm hyped to see our work in action after such a long wait time. Any news would be good news :^^spike
-
No updates! Still waiting on some Cera lines :)
-
I have a great update!
We've basically got all lines ready to go - now to rewatch the edit 100 times and add all missing sound effects :lol
In any case, I hope it will be ready by Christmas. Considering I saw the film the very first time on Christmas eve when I was a lil' toddler, I thought it would be nice, especially in these trying times, to get together and watch our dub for Christmas as well. I still have to decide on the right date/time, but I hope as many people as possible can join for the live stream in Discord. Of course, the dub will also be available to watch on Vimeo once it is all done.
This has to be the biggest project we have taken on as the GoF and it has literally been years in the making. I'd like to thank everyone who is a part of it in one way or another for their support and input! I thoroughly enjoyed managing it and would totally be up for future projects in the voice-over department, though perhaps something smaller next time, eh? ;)
-
I didn't contribute in the end but seeing that I started it long ago, I feel a little bit happy to see the project coming to completion very soon. Thank you for keeping it alive and kicking :duckyhappy
-
How nice to hear that progress is going well! I'm happy to have helped in more ways than one. :)petrie
-
Sooooo looking forward to letting the forum see this. It's been a long time coming (phrasing BOOM!).
Can't wait for everyone to see the work everyone's done for this project.
Great work! :chompysmile
-
Well done, Gang of Five! This is very cool news indeed.
:)littlefoot
