General Land Before Time / Should LBT bring up sexism?
« on: March 27, 2015, 06:43:20 PM »
That wasn't my motive to get people to read it.  I think they will on their own.  It was just where I got the idea and thought, I wonder if bringing up sexism would be ok in LBT or weird.

General Land Before Time / Should LBT bring up sexism?
« on: March 27, 2015, 05:23:39 PM »
Mainly this is based off a fanifc idea of mine, where a Threehorn toughness contest comes along and a boy, Alfred, doesn't think Cera will do well because she's a girl and doubts her a lot (at least at first).

While that's just a fanfic, do you think that LBT should ever have one where its'addressed or should they just stick with racism/speciesism?

LBT has brought up racism already.  It's not beyond the realm of possibility.  I think they have a lot of potential of having someone try and put down Cera and her tomboyishness and address sexism that way.

Chomper just saw Ruby in a bikini.

Well, unless you really look at the first film a lot, you'd never know it with Spike's size.

As for their age, I've read it on the Land Before Time wiki.

LBT Fanfiction / Land Before Time XV: The Threehorn Gathering
« on: March 27, 2015, 02:04:25 AM »
CHAPTER FOUR: PREPARATIONS

"The Threehorn Gathering is taking place here this cold time?" asked Grandpa Longneck.

"Yes Ignatius. They put it here so that pesky Sharpteeth won't crash the party like last time." said Topps.

"Just what we need around here: a gathering of hotheads." said Grandma Longneck, shaking her head.

"It was Dad's idea Irene!" complained Topps.

"When will it be held?" asked Cera.

"Two days from now. That's when it starts." said Topps.

"And I look forward to it." said a voice.

Angus was back, followed by his sons and Bradley.

"You again!" said Cera angrily, glaring at them with strong dislike.

"No violence gentlemen, I'm warning you!" said Grandpa Longneck sternly.

"I don't take orders from a Flathead!" said Angus stubbornly.

Grandma Longneck, normally reserved, snarled at him. "How dare you?!"

SPLAT! Angus got hit in the head with a Tree Sweet. "And there's plenty more where that came from." said Topps angrily.

"I cannot wait to kick your tush right in front of your daughter!" said Prong to Topps.

"In your Sleep Stories pal!" said Topps angrily.

"Daddy's been waiting to kick your tush for a long time Prong!" came a voice.

"Olivia?" said Cera in shock. It was her older sister Olivia, a black Threehorn.

"Yes Cera sweetie." said her older sister, smiling at Cera.

"Please don't call me 'sweetie' Oli, I'm nearly to the Time of Great Growing for goodness sake." grumbled Cera.

"Sorry Cer-bear." said Olivia. Cera put her left foreleg to her head in annoyance. Littlefoot and the others chuckled at "Cer-bear".

"Stop it!" Cera snapped at them. They stopped laughing at once.

"It's aunt Cera!" Cera turned and saw her annoying niece and nephew, Dana and Dinah. They had bother the Gang and Chomper and Ruby the last time they had come. In fact, she had privately asked Chomper to eat them, but he'd refused saying "That's not a very nice thing to do!".

"Oh joy of joys!" moaned Cera.

"Yes it is going to be fun." said Dinah happily. Cera groaned. They didn't understand sarcasm and figures of speech yet. She recalled that she had once told them to "Get lost!" and they had wandered off to Saurus Rock.

"I meant that I wasn't thrilled about you coming." said Cera bluntly.

Dana and Dinah started to pout. "Oh poor kids." said Olivia's mate Charger, a golden-colored Threehorn. He frowned at Cera.

"What? It's true!" grumbled Cera at her brother-in-law.

"You don't like us Aunt Cera?" asked Dana.

"Well, it's not that I don't like you. It's just that I'd rather meet Sharpteeth than you." said Cera.

"You mean Chomper?" asked Dana.

"No, like the kind that we met at Saurus Rock." said Cera.

"Why would you want to do that? You might get eaten?" asked Dinah, who didn't get the point of Cera's comment.

Cera had an idea. "Why don't we go and talk about my fun with Sharpteeth?" said Cera, grinning devilishly.

"Oh boy. That will be fun!" said Dana and Dinah, skipping happily.

She told them about her encounter with Sharptooth. She was kind enough not to go into detail about the attack on Littlefoot's mother, for that would make the two freak out. She'd had trouble not wetting herself at about their age when she'd seen it happen personally. She just mentioned it briefly. It still made them shake.

"So, there I was in the canyon. He seemed dead. So I rammed him over and over." said Cera dramatically. Dana and Dianh listened eagerly. "But then, one eye opened and he woke up!' she said even more dramatically. Dana and Dinah gasped. "He went after me, but I'm so awesome that I was able to get away of course!" said Cera, grinning. The two listened eagerly.

Cera continued, telling them about the rest of her encounters with Sharptooth. The two listened eagerly, shaking. Cera hoped they wouldn't freak out. They, however, were tougher than they looked and were able to listen to it. She continued with the story of Chomper's parents, then the Fast Biters before the first Time of Great Giving, then Dil and Ichy in the Land of Mists, then the story of the Plated Sharptooth.

"So, you see, I had plenty of fun with Sharpteeth before you came to meet us that time we went to Saurus Rock. So that dumb ole Sharptooth that we met there didn't bother me that much. I'm not afraid of anything." said Cera. Her niece and nephew were quite impressed with her.

She then told of the Mountain Sharptooth, the Swimming Sharptooth, all the Sharpteeth she'd encountered on her travels to the Crater and the three she'd met there, the ones that came into the Great Valley later, the Spinosaurus that they'd met, the ones that they'd met with the Yellow Bellies, Red Claw, Screech, and Thud, Ptero's mother Agatha and her pack, and the ones that they'd met when Dayo had come and that had been after her.

"And you aren't afraid?" asked Dinah.

"Nothing scares me." said Cera.

Littlefoot poked her in the back. She jumped. She turned around. "What?!" she snapped.

"I know you're having fun with story-time, but it's time for bed." said Littlefoot. The sun had gone down some time ago and they had sat around glowing vents as she had told the twins her adventurous, and, at times, boastful, stories.

Cera was almost asleep when she heard Tryus and Tria talking nearby. "What are they up to?" she whispered. She got her friends up, wondering what the two grownups would be doing at this time of night. They followed them. They hid behind a bush and stayed out of sight.

"So, Tria, how did you and my boy meet up. I mean, what brought you to the Great Valley?" asked Tryus.

"Just wandering. I'd been single all these years. Thought Topsy was happy with Cerata. Her tragic death should never have happened. I don't blame Topsy for it. Still, i think he could have handled it better and that maybe it wouldn't have happened. His hot head always gets him into trouble." said Tria.

Cera gasped silently. She'd always assumed that her mother and siblings had been gotten by Sharpteeth and that her Dad, who could take on even Tyrannosaurus Rex and a pack of Belly Draggers, just couldn't save them. So, maybe there had been a way to save them after all? Cera was totally stunned. Littlefoot and the others were also shocked.

"Could you help me clear this grass. We cannot have it this long for the Threehorn Gathering." came a voice.

"Grandpa!" Littlefoot whispered.

The grownups were clearing away the grass. Kosh (Mr. Clubtail) was helping a lot by eating a lot of the grass. He belched.

"You're nasty!" said Olivia.

The grownups cleared the place. "The first task will be to smash all of these rocks. They will get progressively more difficult.' said Grandma Longneck. The kids noticed rocks, some quite small that even Tricia could smash. However, near the other side were some that Cera thought might even possibly give her dad and grandpa problems.

Spike stepped on a pinecone. "What was that?" asked Mama Swimmer.

The kids, meanwhile, had taken off. They went to bed. Cera, however, thought before falling asleep that there was something that her dad and stepmother weren't telling her about what happened to her mother and her siblings. But what was it?

General Land Before Time / What exactly did Ichy mean?

Still am curious as to what it might have meant.  Does he have exceptional eyesight?

General Land Before Time / Is Dil completely blind?
« on: March 26, 2015, 11:21:48 PM »
We know her sight, for whatever reason, isn't the best, and that she's gotta have poor vision, but I don't think she's totally blind as why would she have tried to throw Ducky up in the air and catch her if she couldn't see and she was jumping at Ducky too.

(Also, I'm surprised that Ichy didn't try and fly and grab her, as he and Dil seemed at the breaking point, as she swatted him him right afterward, though perhaps that's because she almost ate him.)

General Land Before Time / What exactly did Ichy mean?
« on: March 26, 2015, 11:16:08 PM »
He said "I'm the eyes!" and Dil replied "I'm the teeth!"

I know that probably referred to their partnership and how they complemented each other but I was wondering, does Ichy have great eyesight as many predatory birds like eagles and hawks actually DO!  I mean, he can navigate around in a cave, which might not be the most lit place.

Well, I have read that they were about 5 at the time that Mama Longneck died.  So, to be older, Spike would have had to be in that egg for over five years so forgive me if I'm a bit skeptical.

Even saying that different dinos hatch at different rates, I don't buy the "Spike is older" thing.

General Land Before Time / LBT 14
« on: March 26, 2015, 10:46:40 PM »
Dalek, if they got rid of the songs at this point, it would be weird.  Besides, even Frozen has songs and that was a hit so songs don't make something bad.

Also, I'm writing a fanfic on Topps (whom I once considered one of the villains in Time of Great Giving, at least as a kid, I found him to be a big jerk in that movie, especially as to how he almost got Cera killed in the wildfire.  Even in film V, he's still cocky with "As much as I hate to agree with a Longneck...... and his almost breaking up the herds.  (On the other hand, we'd have never seen Chomper again likely had he not tried that, prompting Littlefoot to try the runaway scheme so I guess it worked out for the best.  :lol   )  And let's not start about his "kill the beasts" routine in film XI where he almost got the Tinysaures with a rock and called Guido a weirdo. )  anyway, I wrote one on him plus Cera (whom I liked least of the Gang of Five, mainly due to her "well, then she must have been a stupid Longneck too!" comment, which was really cold, not to mention her attack from behind.  I honestly think that, due to her pride, had she not changed, she'd have ended up, if not like Hyp then like Pterano.  I mean, her own pride kept her from admitting she was wrong after she lead them into danger.  If she'd kept on that path, I think it not beyond the realm of possibility that she'd have an overinflated ego like Pterano and perhaps gotten others killed.) anyway, I put her in there too.

So if I can do it on a character I"m not overly fond of and if I can also do one later that tries to put Rhett in a better light, despite how much I hated him (I originally thought of making him a villain who joined with the bad guy and hoped to kill Littlefoot in hopes of taking Ali and having Rhett killed off in the end, that's how much I hated him), but I digress, I'm doing one with him and with Shorty (whom I disliked at first too).

Oh, and yes, I put my least favorite characters, Dana and Dinah, in a better light in a fanfic.

So, why can't you be nice to poor Shorty and at least give him a chance?

Anyway, enough about Shorty in that regard , you don't think that they will try and say that Grandpa Longneck and Topps, er, died, as a way to not have to bring in new VAs, do you?  That would stink!!!!  (Though, if they had one of Littlefoot's grandparents die, he'd be even more desperate to go after his father, so it's possible, though I hope not as I love those two characters!)

As for Chomper and Ruby, I keep having this deep seated fear that they will just pretend that the TV Series never happened and that Chomper and Ruby will be neither seen nor mentioned.  I hope I'm wrong.  I really do.    Ignoring the TV Series would be a bad move, though having it in there would confuse anyone who didn't see the series.  It's going to take extra effort to explain them if they bring them in.

On the flip side, there is a hope for how they could handle that, though it would require a Season 2, especially as Red Claw would still be out there in film XIV otherwise.  They say that XIV came before the TV Series and then, if XIV does well enough, they start production on Season 2 for the series.   That would actually be what would be best.  That way, they could have the series at least be fresh if they bring back Chomper and Ruby in later movies, rather than 8 year old episodes from season 1.   Also, by going that route, they won't possibly be left trying to explain why Chomper and Ruby came exactly in the movie itself but could push it off to the series.

Also, this movie could establish something that WASN'T seen in the sequels to X but WAS seen in the series: Bron visiting.  Bron's never been around in XI, XII, or XIII.    Perhaps he started to come around again in XIV and whatever happens there happened,  then Bron comes more often.

Though Bron does mention the parent being the one to administer the Big Longneck Test, one would have thought that Grandma or Grandpa Longneck would have done it for Littlefoot as Bron often is away with his herd and seems much closer to them than Bron.

Maybe XIV makes them closer and hence deals with the problem of Bron seeming to not care enough for Littlefoot and made him go to the Great Valley to give that test when otherwise he might not have wanted to, leaving it to his in-laws to do it so he wouldn't have to leave his herd.

Also, Shorty wanted to run away right before the Sharpteeth showed up in X so it seems that Shorty might not want to come with Bron for the Big Longneck Test and might want to stay with the herd, if for no other reason than that he is jealous that Littlefoot, whom he wishes he could trade places with, is getting Bron's love and attention while Bron won't let him, though some think he's slightly older than Littlefoot, take the test yet.

If something dramatic were to happen in XIV that would make Shorty like Littlefoot more (maybe Littlefoot saves his life), then that might explain why he even wanted to come and wasn't hostile to Littlefoot during their visit.
