Title: One Of The Best Sequels
Post by: AnimeLover on February 14, 2009, 09:51:36 PM
The Land Before Time 7 Became A Success After I Watched The Whole Movie. It Was Brilliant Except Some Scary Images That Came Back To Haunt Me. But Still, It's The Best Sequel.

 :lol

The New Characters Were The Best Even Though They Scared Me. The Songs Were The Best And The Animation Is Beautiful.

The Land Before Time 7 Is The Best Sequel Since A Few Sequels Were Released Every One Or Two Years.

To be honest I Totally go for The Land Before Time 11.  I don't know why but it was so epic dramatic and I think the tinysaurus were interesting characters.

I like number nine a lot... I dunno, I found the whole thing really engaging. Plus, I love Mo. I used to watch that one all of the time.

I tend to like the earlier ones best, 2- some parts of 5.

I agree Anime Lover! LBT 7 was my favorite sequel of all.

I remember watching it obsessively when I was a little tyke. Pterano to me is a complexed character, for LBT at least, and he has a nice appearance. If you look at my member title below my username, you can tell I am a HUGE Sierra fan. Rinkus I thought was pretty cool. And I think we saw a much bolder side of Petrie in this sequel.

7 did have a more multi-layered villian and the plot was pretty well written, though the rainbow faces being from a more advanced civilization didn't exactly fully fit with the plot.  They are interesting characters, but can be removed and it would not really effect the movie much.   The main story is fairly serious, more like in the tradition of the earlier sequels.

What drove me to like 7 was the characters. I LOVE Rinkus, Sierra and the rainbowfaces. Pterano is cool because he's realistic and has depth. Plus, Michael York, Jim Cummings, and Rob Paulsen are a brilliant combination.

My favorite sequel is 3, though. I did find it preachy, but something about it really makes me like it. I dunno. I also love 4 and 7. Excluding the opinions of this website, it looks like I prefer the underrated sequels. :p This is my preference:

1 > 3 > 4 > 7 >> 2 > 5 >> 6 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> All the others and the TV show. I feel like I should give the "others" a chance, but it annoys me how the movies seem to get more kiddie as they go on.

Hmm personally, I these following LBT films: 1-5, 7, & 12. I didn't care for 6, 8, 9, 10, or 13. I thought those were the not so strong sequels. :p

I didn't really like LBT 7 too much. When I started to watch it for the first time, I couldn't even finish the movie and shut it off. I eventually get around to watching the rest of it and I didn't like the ending when the rainbow faces disappear in the manner that they do. It seemed rather unLBT-like to me.

Its interesting seeing how everyone has such different impressions of the sequels.  When I was a kid LBT 2 was my favorite, I remember one day I was home sick from school and I just watched it over and over again.  Must have watched it 6 times that day.  Today I like LBT 10 the best, for me it is the sequel that comes close to creating the emotions I feel while watching LBT 1.

As for LBT 7 it was the first sequel I had some serious problems with. No doubt it has some great elements (Pterano and his background story for example), but I heartily dislike the elements of those aliens being used as a deus ex machina device to give the gang the hint for a highly unrealistic way to reach the top of Threehorn Peak. Their departure left little Mysteriousness about them (unlike in case of LBT 6's Doc) and the whole Stone of Cold Fire plot in itself was rather shaky.
Unfortunately this trend to neglect a plausible or interesting story was continued and driven further in most of the later sequels. LBT 8 could have been great if only they had taken a little more care to make it so. LBT 10 could have been awesome had it not been for an unrivaled neglect of all previous movies and a total abandoning of anything LBT used to be based on (see here (http://www.gangoffive.net/index.php?topic=381.0) for more details). Anyway, I'm getting off topic.

I think the plot for LBT 12 and 13 could have been used as TV show episodes instead of actual movies. They didn't seem too developed enough for a whole movie.

Personally, I enjoyed LBT 7, but I do not believe it is the best. I would say LBT 5 was the best sequel (I probably changed my mind from before). It gave the dinosaurs the first conflict which really forces them to leave the Great Valley (the water crisis in LBT 3 was bad but not enough to force them to leave). In my opinion, it reflected how in real life people left their homes and went to America for a better life, but the journey was perilous. It also shows that in a time of crisis, a scapegoat must be found and dissension erupts in a once calm group (Topsy causing most of the argument and going as far as blaming Littlefoot for Cera leaving).

What really clicked for me was how the movie revived past prejudice themes between the characters and Chomper. Cera is the main character to continuously show such feelings towards Chomper, constantly holding her grudge onto him when he bit her in LBT 2, and eventually for a brief moment Petrie and Ducky begin to agree with her that Chomper is too dangerous. I thought this brought up a great conflict on trust and moral beliefs, as Littlefoot never doubted that Chomper would not hurt them despite how the others felt.

The song Always There is in my opinion the best song of the sequels. It shows the true message that nobody is truly alone and there's always someone there for you whenever you need them. Also beside the message, this was in my opinion the best desplay of singing for Littlefoot, even though it was Thomas Dekker instead of the original voice actor.

I realize this is ranting and off topic, but I had to get my opinion out

5 is probably one of my fav sequels too because it presents sharpteeth in a different way, showing that sharpteeth are capable of showing love, something that is rarely seen in LBT. It's also the only LBT movie I can recall where the kids come to terms with the sharpteeth, as in realize that they aren't so different from each other after all (to quote Cera, "Chomper and his folks may be different from us, but they're family, just like our families". It was also interesting how Chomper's folks were able to set aside their instincts to want to eat the children (considering they are meat-eaters) to let them stay on the island, likely as a thank-you for saving their kid. Not sure how long that promise would've lasted had Littlefoot and his friends stayed on the island, but it still probably took a lot of willpower for Chomper's parents to suppress the urge to try to eat the leaf-eater kids for the sake of their son Chomper.

Though the original is undispuitedly the best, I found the second, fifth and seventh movies interesting =D.

From what I see, a lot of people favor LBT IV because it started the whole LittlefootxAli fandom. In my opinion, I liked LBT IV a lot, but the whole idea of LittlefootxAli is so overused. I also believe it sticks too much with the idea that dinousaurs can only mate with those in their species (although this is probably correct by nature). I think LBT IV is one of the most controversial sequels because it involves more with dealing with the death of a loved one, as Grandpa Longneck warns Littlefoot that he must leave the Great Valley if he dies, as well as this first sign of possible love between Ali and Littlefoot.

Ok how can I say this without sounding awkward?

.........................................................................................................

It doesn't really bother me as much as I implied it did in my last post. I guess it just seems wierd that the movie is all about accepting different kinds of people (or in this case dinosaurs), and yet here the slight sign of romance is only between two dinosaurs of the same species. That's what I really like about the bond between Ducky and Petrie. They are of opposite species, but one could almost believe that they were brother and sister because of how much they care for each other. I just don't see why it had to be between two characters of the same type that any sign of romance occurred. I guess that's why in my fanfic I develop a romance between Littlefoot and Cera in stead of Littlefoot and Ali, because to me it makes more sense that he would feel something for Cera because of everything they've been through, whereas with Ali it was "love at first sight" and kind of too bold.

That probably made no sense at all

I don't know LBTfan13 I actually agree with you on that.  Especially with Littlefoot and Cera they are the Closet Companions in the Franchise.

LOL...don't be so hard on yourself metadude! Everyone has their reasons as to why they have their favourites. Doesn't make you a retard :D I personally can say which of the LBTs I like the most (not any more) coz they all pretty much hit the same bandlength with me. All of them hvae their highlights and their low points but I generally just take them with a pinch of salt ;)

Hard for me to pick just 1.  I'd have to say the first 4 movies with most of 5 also.  Though 5 ends up like the following sequels it does start out as good as the earlier movies in my opinion.

I have to say number 2 or 3 were my favories. I personally like the older ones better. I don't really know why but the just give me more of a cozy, warm feeling inside. I like these ones because I watched them more than the others. Well, actually I haven't watched an LBT movie in a long time. I'll have to make some time for it I guess. I also like them because they (in my opinion anyways) had some of the best songs. i.e. Peaceful Valley, Eggs, and Kids Like Us. Hey I  like them. Also Chompers in number 2. I love that little guy! As for 3 I just like it. For me it holds up as one of the better sequals. Too bad this is the sequals, otherwise, I would have picked the first one. But, oh well I'll add it anyway, the first one is my favorite.

3 and 4 are the best; 2 is great as well---it's the only sequel that's even remotely as good as 3 and 4
