Yeah I let the movie silently play in the background on Netflix yesterday just to boost their numbers. Every bit helps.

Interesting - I didn't notice any glaring out-of-character moments. What examples stood out to you?

Not out-of-character, but it annoyed me that Chomper was able to track their scent when we wasted so much screentime on stickweed and how it made their scents unsmellable.
YES I noticed that right away. They made a whole song out of it!
The songs in this movie weren't my favorite, and usually the songs make or break the LBT sequel for me. Maybe once they're on YouTube and I can listen to them more they'll grow on me. There weren't any real deep ones this time, though. Maybe that last song about being apart, but I'll have to hear it again to see.

General Land Before Time / Sequels Personal Ranking
« on: February 13, 2016, 10:53:51 AM »
I actually made this list after I finished re watching all the sequels.. I don't remember why I would have ranked Wisdom of Friends so high but I trust my judgement immediately after seeing them more than how I feel now, at least a year after. I know the last 3 were ranked so low because they were most boring, to me. I have to add Big Freeze and JOTB bc they weren't on my original list.

The Mysterious Island
The Great Longneck Migration
Journey to Big Water
Journey Through the Mists
The Big Freeze
The Great Valley Adventure
Invasion of the Tinysauruses
Journey of the Brave
The Time of the Great Giving
The Wisdom of Friends
The Stone of Cold Fire
The Secret of Saurus Rock
The Great Day of the Flyers

General Land Before Time / Worst movie 7 song?

Not a fan of Good Inside or Very Important Creature. This was one of the worst movies song wise, to me.

General Land Before Time / The Good Dinosaur LBT similarity
« on: November 28, 2015, 02:18:47 AM »
In one of the first scenes of the new Pixar movie, the Good Dinosaur, one of Arlo's siblings hatches and runs around with his legs sticking out of his shell and head-butts his dad. It looked just like the opening of LBT, where Cera does that when she hatched. Coincidence or could they have been referencing The Land Before Time?

General Land Before Time / Journey of the Brave (LBT 14)

I'm glad Anndi is still voicing Cera. Her singing voice is great and Cera's character sounds much better with an older voice. I didn't like the first voice actor much at all, they made her sound way too bratty.

Character Discussion / Petrie's blind defense of Pterano
« on: July 26, 2015, 02:05:39 AM »
Hated the song "Good Inside". I can't believe they just forgive him for kidnapping Ducky..
I agree though. That's probably one of the reason why Petrie is my least favorite of the gang of five. I also dislike Pterano, his little savior act at the end didn't make up for his selfishness.

General Land Before Time / Rate the 5 in order of favorite
« on: July 25, 2015, 03:20:38 PM »
Sorry if there's already a thread like this, but what are you opinions on the 5 in order of favorite and why?
These all all just personal opinions
1- Cera. When I was little I was a fan of triceratops and the color orange (It could have been a result of liking Cera but I'm guessing I started liking Cera because of that haha). I know that's a silly reason but now, being older, I still like her best. I like her attitude, she's stubborn but still cares. I also really like her singing voice, haha.
2- Littlefoot. He's the main character so obviously he's a favorite. He's nice and just an overall good character (he has to be, being the main)
3- Spike. I know he doesn't add much but I like the fact that there's a character who can't talk in the gang. I thought it was really sweet in 7 when he drew Ducky in the sand.
4- Ducky. She's cute. Nothing I specifically dislike or like about her though, she's just kinda there to me.
5- Petrie. I dunno, I think, especially in the TV series (which I know is hardly reliable but I personally consider it canon), he's too much of a "scaredy egg". <I'm prepared for arguments on that since he's a fan favorite.

I love all the main characters though. They all have very distinct personalities which is pretty good for a mainly direct-to-video kids series.
What do you think?

Edit- If I were to add Ruby and Chomper in there, I think Ruby would be third and Chomper 6th or 7th.
Also, thinking about it, I know that Petrie HAS to be a nervous wreck sometimes or else he could solve half of their problems by flying to get help xD

General Land Before Time / Would a 3D LBT be good or bad?

CGI has to some extend already been used in LBT. I think the first time was in the opening of LBT 7 where I got to say it looked really terrible and artificial. Same goes for moments in LBT 10 (the scene in which Littlefoot runs along the branch before spotting the crater valley) where the CGI in my opinion looked like the graphics of a poor computer game. On the other hand I think there was some good use of what I assume to have been CGI in LBT 9 where I believe it was used to create some water effects which, I think fitted in nicely. If used correctly CGI needn't constitute a total breach of style, but if used poorly it may become just that.
I remember that branch scene, I always knew something was off about it.
Yeah, I suppose if they kept the "cartoony" style it could look good. When I think GCI though I picture the characters looking like disney and pixar characters. I don't know that I've seen a full CGI movie in the "cartoon" style of LBT..

I wouldn't like it. It's like how they changed that kids show Franklin to CGI. When I saw my little cousin watching it I was like, "What the heck happened to Franklin?". I would though, be kind of interested to see what the characters looked like in a more CGI form (as fan art, not an actual movie).

General Land Before Time / Does 4 or 5 have more nostalgia?
« on: July 24, 2015, 04:48:59 PM »
The LBT movie I always remembered best was 5. The songs were easier to sing along to-- I remember singing "Friends for Dinner" when I had friends over for dinner haha. Big Water is catchy too, for younger kids. LBT 4 was a little more deep and sad when you think about how Grandpa Longneck was dying and Littlefoot was separated from his friends for most of the movie. This isn't a bad thing at all, I loved LBT 4, but going on nostalgia, I think 5 was better that way.
4 and 5 are two of my three favorite LBT movies.

General Land Before Time / If you could change one of the sequels...
« on: July 24, 2015, 10:26:22 AM »
I found 6 to be a little slow, but it was a nice story so I don't know what they could really add to it. I guess I'm just not a big fan of the ones where they don't go on a journey.
12 was the same way, 12 was actually my least favorite LBT movie. The part where they were following Guido was a total *yawn*. Not to mention he had wings, and was the same size and body type as Petrie, so why was it so hard for everyone to figure out that he could be a flyer? The only part I liked of that movie was Cera's story with her little sister and the song "Things Change".

General Land Before Time / Regarding ANY LBT 14 Topics

I'm just going to say this.  To me, Anndi McAfee IS Crea!  There's just no one else I can see doing the role these days.  You can get the greatest voice actor ever, and I would STILL choose Anndi McAfee over the great voice actor.  It's also the same with Aria as Ducky.

Disagree about that all you want!  I'll support the role they have until the end.
I agree! I love Cera and she just isn't the same without Anndi Mcafee voicing her.. In movies 1-4, Cera sounded like too much of a brat. Now she sounds more tough, proud, and a bit stuck up, which is more like her character that I love haha

General Land Before Time / Land Before Time Canon and Sequel Haters
« on: May 17, 2015, 02:40:18 AM »
The sequels cause many people love The Land Before Time, I think. Sure, you can love a movie, but you don't get as attached to the characters in just one film. The sequels made LBT more of a franchise than just one movie. I love the sequels. Most of the sequels I actually enjoy more than the original. I definitely think they should be considered canon. They were made by universal, after all.

Nah, I really like the sound of the plot. LBT has always been one of my favorite, if not my favorite, sequel. I like the idea of Littlefoots having a father and I think it sounds really interesting for him to go out in search of him. The LBT movies where they go on a journey are the best.

I think it may be helping to define what everyone understands as an "anti-hero" since several different views of what an anti-hero is or istn't and does or doesn't seem to be about.
I think an anti-hero usually shows a very distinct lack of the physical or psychological qualities usually associated with a "classical hero". The abilities an anti hero may lack (not necessarily all of them) may include strength, intelligence, courage, adventurousness, loyalty, idealism, devotion, sense of purpose etc. Very often "anti-heros" are thrown into adventures against their will, but sometimes they end up living up to their role as a hero (examples for this may be the hobbits in J.R.R. Tolkien's books).
I can't say I ever considered Cera any kind of anti hero. She does possess many of the "traditional" heroic qualities and her reluctance against company (even against representatives of another species) doesn't make her an anti-hero (if that was enough to turn her into an anti-hero we would have to put that selfsame label on the "lone dinosaur" too).
A character whom I always saw as an interesting case of "anti-hero" was Weasel from the Animals of Farthing Wood (just in the TV-series, not in the books).
The one character who I think could arguably be called an anti hero in the LBT franchise may be Pterano whose self-righteousness, lack of actual courage, greed for power etc. may all be qualities of an anti-hero. Personally I am not really sure though if "anti-hero" really fits for I somewhat don't really see much of the redeeming qualities or actions that usually make up for the "hero" in the word anti hero (he just happens to be considered "good inside" by the kids and saves Ducky from a fall (without risking anything in doing so) she would have never had had he not abducted her for uncertain reasons).
What does everyone else think makes a character an anti-hero?
I know this is unrelated but I love Animals of Farthing Wood ^^ Weasel is definitely an antihero. I feel like Cera could be in the first movie (she's my favorite character, I don't mean it in a bad way); she does actually get into a physical fight with Littlefoot and she leads the others away from him.

Episode 24 where Ducky went psycho and abandoned Spike for some rocks. Wth was that about? Her creepy, evil, smile though..
The fact that Cera, Ruby, and Spike were left out of the last episode
How Doc became mean and Ally became annoying
How they used the same songs over and over again
How Petrie was scared of everything
