I always wanted to see a total solar eclipse!!
I wasn't in the path of totality for this one, but traveling was well worth it. The photos used in news articles do
no justice to the phenomenon. Standing under the "diamond ring" felt absolutely surreal, and having Venus so close by the moon and sun created an even more magical effect! And
@The Chronicler I was so excited to see those solar prominences as well! What a perfect time in the solar cycle for a total eclipse! I'm glad you got such a great view of the event, and it's nice to see someone else was anticipating this as much as I was. For some reason I can't fathom, most people I know in person seemed to be pretty indifferent about it and certainly weren't interested in traveling to see it. Where are all the astronomy fans these days? Anyway, I'd love to see your photos! I didn't take any myself, having decided I preferred to be able to spend the event in the moment. It was even more incredible than I'd hoped, and I'm so happy I can finally say I've seen a total eclipse!!
