Yeah to the multi billion dollar companies it's a small amount but to family owned businesses not really a small amount.
True. However, seeing as how actually quite a few businesses stayed with Windows XP for way longer than advisable, continous upgrades seem the better solution to me.

Now, you are also right, of course. It is harsh on them, which is why I am still looking at this with mixed emotions. I see no problem with offering what MS has in mind, yet when they try to force their way it becomes very much debatable.

Will have to see what they make of it, in the end.

Yeah, I agree on the business side. I should make clear that I was solely talking about the home users, and charging them fees for using an operating system.

You are totally right with businesses. It is a small amount of money to them and also encourages them to stay up-to-date all the time.

This is probably gonna be difficult, so the hint is: It's dinosaur related again, but not to LBT. Good luck! :)

Can't say I'm surprised either. XBox live service already costs money for absolutely no reason, which is why I own a PS4. And then even Sony moved on to make online gaming cost a few bucks, and lost me as future customer. It absolutely enrages me, as I see no benefit for the user. Sure, you get a crappy game for free now and then, and a few discounts, but other than that it's just a mindless money-grab that hurts them more than benefit. Same goes for an OS. Especially considering how much fixing Win10 still needs.

Now, I personally doubt Microsoft will end up charging for existing OSs for home users. I for one, when I bought my new PC, paid 100Ä for Win10 to be included, as I wanted a solid disc copy of it for restore purposes (which I used once already). But I'm not keen at all on switching over to another OS. I've grown fond of Win10 once I learned how to access every area. However, given what they stated about making Win10 'universal' for cellphones, tablets, PCs, I highly doubt they want to risk every market and Apple completely taking over. It's mind-boggeling how stupid people in these big companies can be, with absolutely no connection to reality.

So here's hoping that they get an overwhelmingly bad feedback for this heinous move to screw over their customers, and show insight like they did with XBox One already (where they had planned to make it a forced always-online platform). Otherwise, I can see a bright future for Microsoft's competitors.

Thanks to all of you amerifa*s, the servers are overloaded and no one else can play it. :p  Guess us germans, europeans in general, will have to wait a couple more weeks until it's at least available here.

However, to everyone playing the game, be careful, will ya? I've already read about some teenage lowlifes using the app to lure people into a trap and perform an armed robbery. Hurray to guns in America, but despite the country and jokes aside, don't get too distracted by it. ;)

Update:
I have managed to get the android APK through a quick google search, so I can enjoy the game as well now. Really is addicting as all hell, though the battery drain certainly is ridiculous. Tested it out on my HTC One M7, and my battery basically went from 80 to 70% in a matter of minutes. But apart from that, I can understand where the hype comes from.
Ha, not completely surprised... the servers were terrible for us, too!  :lol I could only get on a couple of times over the past few days. They seem to be leveling out now though- they're only offline 20% of the time rather than 80%  :smile
We definitely wrecked them!
Well, I don't know what they were expecting. Pokemon and VR? Seriously? That's one of the best ideas in a long time, and it works pretty nicely, too.

Yes, I would second vonboy's statement, Chomper having met Ruby. Partially, that is. Though it is odd, it's the only logical explanation there is for Chomper being bilingual. And also, several months must have passed between Movie 2 and 5. And in my mind, as in Rhombus' and my own fanfiction, I think leaf-eater is an immensely easy language to pick up. Logically, being a language spoken by "less intelligent" dinosaurs. Still, don't forget we're talking about LBT here, not a scientific series by any means, and don't forget you cannot compare that with "our" languages such as English or German. We humans used to communicate via grunts and snarls, too, a long time ago.

However, I would like to make clear that Chomper will have hunted leaf-eaters on that island. Before he recognized Littlefoot, you could see it in is eyes. He was hunting, and willing to kill. And it's good they hinted at this, because Chomper was living with his parents, two full-grown T-Rex, on that island. It makes no sense whatsoever for him having lived off insects and such small creatures. Even if Chomper never killed on his own, he will have eaten several herbivores his parents killed.
Remember his own words towards his parents in sharptooth, where he claims to have just eaten a longneck, making his parents ignore the scent of Littlefoot. If Chomper had never killed, or at least eaten, a Sauropod, his parents would have been surprised by this, at least commented on that.

So yeah, this is my take because I'd like to be realistic about this. There is no shame in a carnivore's actions, and even in cartoons mostly made for younger audiences, I would welcome it if not every carnivore was depicted as a monster, or if a carnivore happens to be a "good guy" (such as Chomper), not to make him look unnatural by forcing his diet to be borderline vegan. I can only refer to the Lion King on that matter once again.

Okay, so i saw you didn't exactly understand what i meant with 'Until you die' so what i mean with it is if you die in the LBT world you also die in the real world. (It seems very dark)

So let me ask another question that goes further into the one i asked before:

If you were able to be born into one of the Land before time families (Littlefoot, Cera, Ruby & Chomper, Ducky & Spike, Petrie or perhaps the Clubtails? Or with Guido.) would you do it? and if you want to know: Yes, you will still have all your knowledge , intellect , memories , abilities from this world however you can't use them all because maybe you don't have 2 legs and 2 arms.

You can't go back to the human world though, it would be strange: A dinosaur just walking around humans like nothing happened :p

I wonder what your answer will be to this one :)

You can also be born into one of your favorite fanfiction families. :)
Ah, I see...

Well, in this case, and only under the circumstance I keep my memories, I'd definitely choose to be a theropod. I would never trade my arms in, though I guess I would be alright with two or three less fingers and decreased flexibility. So, Ruby & Chomper if it would have to be a LBT family, preferrably Chomper's as I can't imagine myself liking to have no real teeth and a beak, as it would be the case for an Oviraptor. Then again, Tyrannosaurus, even though it is one of my favorite dinosaurs, would be just too big and clunky, not to mention the tiny arms...

As I said before, something in the direction of Utahraptor or Dakotaraptor I'd be more willing to accept, which is the case in my FanFiction.

But the big question remains, of course. Would I seriously do it if I could not go back?
And this is just impossible for me to answer honestly and straight away, as it is just too complicated. I have friends, I have family, and it would be incredibly selfish to throw all this away. In my opinion, this would be basically the same as committing suicide. I mean, I'd be gone from the human world forever, even though I might live on in this dinosaur world. Not to mention that I wouldn't want anything happen to my family and friends because of my presence in another world/time.

Again, in the case this impossible scenario really happened, I would at least consider it. But this would be a decision I could ponder for years. :)

(This may seem something like painful which i do not consciously do)

If you were able to live in the LBT universe for a year (which only 1 second passes irl) would you do it? Note: you cant go back for that year.

Would your answer change if it was till the end of your life?
(You do age in there like irl and however you look will go over)

And note that even thought it seems like 1 sec for them you will get older

Sorry if it's a painful question  :sducky  :(petrie
Don't worry, I'm fine with dark stuff, and I actually like this one and don't find it to be painful at all. But I'm afraid I don't quite understand to the fullest.

"If you were able to live in the LBT universe for a year (which only 1 second passes irl) would you do it? Note: you cant go back for that year.

Would your answer change if it was till the end of your life?
(You do age in there like irl and however you look will go over)"

If I understand this part correctly, I basically go there for a whole year while in the human world only a second passes.

Honestly, I've heeded these thoughts in some way already. Would I trade in my human life for a new one in a different world? This is one of the reasons I've started writing, and my FanFiction, The Eighth Hunter, is partly the answer already. There are obviously a lot of factors to account for, but if I was to stay there for one year, one second in my human life, and death wouldn't be a problem, I'd do it. Without hesitation.

Would I do it for my whole life? Probably not, since I believe it would be too much to handle as a human. I think it would be physically impossible to stay alive for so long, no one to understand and help you. If you would let me choose to be... let's say... a raptor instead, however, I think I just might go for it. ;)

I'm curious, I love dinosaurs, and I dislike a lot of things about the human society. It would be hard leaving everything behind but... I'd take my chances. Now, I'm saying all this while lying in my bed, typing on my iPad, connected to the whole world over wireless internet, of course, so let's say I'd at least consider it.

A bit of a random question: how much of the LBT television series have you seen?  And, if you have seen any episodes, which episodes were your most and least favorite?
I have actually seen every single one, pretty much a straight run from movie 1 to 13 and then the series last summer, before I started writing. That's how I got back into the fandom, and of course FanFiction. :)

One of my favorites definitely is that with Guido and Swooper, "The Hermit of Blackrock", as I always liked Guido as a character, partly because he's a Microraptor and I love me my raptors. :D
Though I have to say, apart from his feathers, they really messed up on his design. They could've at least made him look a tiny little bit like a sharptooth, give him an actual snout and tail, if they already wanted to avoid the sickle claws. But oh well, I like Guido, still. :)

"Search for the Skycolor Stones" was also quite deep, as it showed forms of obsession and addiction. I was actually surprised to see how borderline insane the dinosaurs went over those geodes.

"Lonely Journey" as well, showing Chomper's struggle to fit in with herbivores, though I found the message just stupid. "They're not yet ready to be friendly.", of course adult carnivores are not and will never be friendly. :D

"Lone Dinosaur Returns" I liked very much, Doc making peace with Chomper was nice to see.

"Days of Rising Water" where especially Chomper helps out a lot, saves Volant's life (yeah I use your name for Petrie's mother ;)).

"The Big Longneck Test" showing off Littlefoot's growing leadership skills.

"Return to Hanging Rock", too. Nice to see Ruby's family.

I pretty much liked 90% of the episodes, because most had returning characters from the movies such as Guido, Mo or Doc, but my least liked would have to be the very last.

I think "The Great Egg Adventure" started off too rash, had too many cliches, and was just overall pretty damn boring. I mean yeah, it was nice to see some little raptors hatching and their eggs not getting crushed by the three bullies, but I just felt like it was the wrong finale. It felt pushed out, not thought through one bit.
I know that "Through the Eyes of a Spiketail" is supposedly the actual finale, but I disliked this one just as much.

I just felt like they were seriously running out of ideas, instead of doing something cool with Red Claw, Thud and Screech as a finale. Those are supposed to be the bad boys, after all.

So yeah, these are my thoughts on the series. :)

As I said already:

Praise the gods you gave him two fingers and proper, pointed claws! :D
Jokes aside, this is another scene I remember perfectly, just another intense one. Chomper's immense loyalty to his leaf-eater friends could've turned this scene into quite the fatal outcome, had he not recognized Ruby via her unique way of speaking even in the carnivore language, if I remember that detail correctly.
Now, this turned out really, really good once again! I especially must stress how awesome the night sky looks, but how you are torn between focusing on that and Chomper's murderous gleam in his eyes. Not to mention Ruby's expression.
Literally, the only detail I would've liked to see added were the dewclaws on Chomper's feet, though I understand that LBT isn't really consistent when it comes to anatomical correctness. :D

Looking forward to whatever comes next! :)

As I said on dA already:

A hommage to the scene from Littlefoot's mother's death... Wow...

As always, you managed to recreate it perfectly and turned it into something very powerful, not to mention the overall detail even with something this simple in terms of background. Just simply awesome. Very well done there!

Truly, Erica, you exceed yourself with each and every single one of your works, whether it might be LBT art or anything else you do. I really can't wait for whatever you focus on next. :)

Excellent! Really excellent! Don't have anything deep or insightful to say at the moment, I just finished reading and feel like I need to digest it all :smile
Really enjoying the story so far, though! And now I need to go read the Seven Hunters to get up to speed :lol
Why thank you! I'm really happy you find a liking to it thus far! :)
The next chapter is already finished and posted, actually, but on the FanFiction site. It always takes me some time, and most often the right mood, to reformat the text and post it here, too. So, if you're interested, you could head over to read Chapter 27 already. ;)

That being said, a few parts of this version here are a little outdated by now, which is because updating here takes an awful lot of time, since I can't just copy the text over. Again, this is because I have to reformat every bold or italic passage.

And finally, yes, I wholeheartedly recommend you reading the original story by Rhombus. :)

Yup, I think I can go as far as say that this is right up there with your best works, if not THE best in terms of background, shading and mood visualization. The kiss looks a bit... uhm... awkward, but I guess that is somewhat intentional, isn't it? :D
If it is, then it fits perfectly. The designs of Ducky and Trough, though I do not know his exact details, seem 100% spot on, and the detail is incredible.
Really, really breathtaking work from you again. Can't wait to see the next pieces, and even further, I can't wait to see how you will develop over the next years. ;)

Oh, wow! Almost missed this. And it's absolutely magnificent!

It is just one of the many scenes from TSH I can remember quite well, and it certainly becomes even more powerful in visuals. As always, your background looks breathtaking, and the overall quality and detail is right up there with the highest standards.

Seeing this almost makes me want to burden you some more with my own ideas, but I will hold something special back for now. :)

To express my gratitude over this once more, I will simply copy over my dA comment:
____

You couldn't have made in any better in almost every aspect.
And what really surprises and gives me shivers again and again are your backgrounds. The level of detail, beauty but also darkness, in this case, you manage to put into them is simply magnificent.

So, all in all, I just want to say that I wouldn't have commissioned anyone else but you for such a scene, and yes, you obviously delivered and did it justice!
Certainly looking forward to your next works, commissions and requests. Other than that, and to make Rhombus relax a bit, though he should know where I'm going with those two as this is from a past chapter, 20 :lol, my head is filled with more joyful scenes, so we'll be in touch! :)
